➢ To get the city’s attention, a guy in Massachusetts planted Christmas trees in two potholes after they caused $600 in damages to his car. (Here’s the guy, Kevin Martin, talking about it.)
➢ A guy who worked on Amazon’s Alexa has a new app called MeowTalk that translates cat sounds into English. It comes with nine preset emotions that he says all cats use to try to communicate with us.
➢ The city of Montreal, Quebec has embarked on an interesting recycling project. Construction crews are using old wine bottles to make bridges. A project has been launched to use 70,000 glass bottles to create a bridge on the city’s Nuns’ Island. Similar to the way wine bottles have been used in pavement, the glass will be powdered and mixed with cement to achieve a strong structure. A second bridge is set to begin construction next year. About 10% of the bridges will be made from recycled glass, which is said to not only be good for the environment, but also effective at strengthening the bridge.
➢ A new survey found close to a third of us are so desperate to impress people, we’ll lie about all sorts of things in social situations. The top three are are our job, how much we’ve travelled, and how often we exercise. (It reminded us of the “Seinfeld” episode where George does the “opposite” and tries to pick a woman up by being brutally honest about himself.)
➢ On “The Tonight Show”, Julia Louis-Dreyfus explained how she came up with Elaine’s infamous dance on “Seinfeld”. (There was no music playing to keep her rhythm)

Singles released from this album include “Beer Run (B Double E Double Are You In?)” (a duet with George Jones, “Wrapped Up in You”, and “Squeeze Me In” (a duet with Trisha Yearwood). It was the last album by Brooks before his ten-year hiatus.

FRIENDS FIND LOOPHOLE IN IRELAND’S COVID-19 DRINKING RESTRICTIONS
Some people get really creative when it comes to finding loopholes in COVID-19-related rules.
A group of friends in Ireland recently skirted lockdown rules by buying airline tickets costing about $12, not boarding their flight, and then just enjoying a few pints at the Dublin Airport.
The Dublin Airport is considered an essential business and therefore is allowed to stay open despite the Level 5 lockdown restrictions in Ireland. People there have been banned from visiting each other’s homes and yards, and pubs are only allowed to serve takeout pints until December 1st.
There is, however, a rule in place that anyone who buys alcohol (even at the airport) must also make a minimum food purchase of about $10.65. The four men who bought the cheap tickets posted on Facebook, “When the pubs are closed and the only place serving is the airport, so you book a €9.99 flight (that you have no intention of getting on) to go for beers with the lads, down there for dancing.”
A Dublin Airport spokesperson said this behavior could potentially be punished as the individuals could be in breach of airport by-laws.

⇒ Changing your bed on a Friday: An old wives’ tales says if you turn your mattress that day, you’ll be cursed with bad dreams.
⇒ Carrying bananas on a ship: In the 1700s, many ships that were lost or shipwrecked were carrying bananas, so sailors, who were a superstitious bunch, decided that bananas on a boat meant bad news.
⇒ Renaming a boat: This goes back to ancient times, when sailors believed that the name of every boat was written in the ledger of Poseidon. If you dared change the name of a boat, you’d incur the sea god’s wrath.
⇒ Mixing beers: In the Czech Republic, whose people drink more beer per capita than anywhere else, it’s believed that if you pour one type of beer into a mug containing another type, you’re in for some misfortune.
⇒ Tuesday the 13th: While many cultures see Friday the 13th as bad news, in Spain, the 13th day of the month is unlucky when it falls on a Tuesday. In Spanish, the word for Tuesday is “Martes,” which comes from “Mars”, the Roman god of war, so Tuesday spells trouble.

A guy in Ohio recently found out the Akron marathon would be virtual this year because of the pandemic.
So he signed up . . . ran 35 laps around the hospital that’s treating his four-year-old son’s cancer . . . and raised $16,000 for them.

It’s Friday the 13th! Here Are the Top Ten Superstitious Things We Do
Does Friday the 13th make you nervous, or is it just another day? A new poll found 29% of adults believe they’ve been INJURED because they didn’t follow a superstition they should have. Here are the top ten superstitions we believe in . . .
- Avoiding walking under a ladder. 62% said they’d never do it.
- Knocking on wood.
- Crossing your fingers.
- Saying “bless you” when someone sneezes.
- Not opening umbrellas indoors.
- “Find a penny, pick it up.” But only if it’s heads up.
- Don’t put new shoes on a table. It’s supposed to be bad luck . . . and unsanitary.
- Breaking the wishbone on a turkey.
- Throwing salt over your shoulder if you spill some.
- Keeping your wish a secret when you blow out your candles.
The poll also found 36% of us have a lucky number.
FRIDAY NOVEMBER 13TH
- The University of Oxford posted a videoexplaining how they and other groups are coming up with vaccines in record time. The average vaccine takes 15 years. And before this, the record was four years for the mumps vaccine.
- A volunteer who was part of the Pfizer vaccine study saysthere’s one side effect that kind of sucks. He got two shots. And after the first one, it felt like he had a really bad hangover. His doctor told him it could have been the placebo effect, but he doesn’t think so.
- A news crew was live on the air, reportingon flooding in North Carolina, when part of the bridge collapsed just a few feet from where they were standing.
- Comedian Pablo Francisco does a pretty spot-on impersonation of the movie trailer voice guy . . . and Arnold.
Carly Pearce Lost Her Two Front Teeth in an Accident on Halloween
CARLY PEARCE was doing an interview at the CMAs on Wednesday talking about the usual stuff, when out of nowhere she said this: Quote, “People don’t know, but on Halloween I fell and knocked my two front teeth out.
“I had a bunch of stitches in my mouth, looked completely different than what I looked like right now, and it was kind of scary because I knew I was going into the biggest week of my life.”
She was wearing some kind of temporary device and looked the same as usual. Plus, everyone knew about her and Charles Kelley performing “I Hope You’re Happy Now” . . . which they pre-taped on Sunday.
And yet, things were still touch-and-go. Quote, “I was fortunate to get doctors that helped and knew the pressure I was under. But with every day, I was like, ‘Please, Lord, let my face heal so I can do this, because this is such a huge moment.'”
She added, quote, “Right now I just have a little issue on my top lip and after [this] I gotta go get new teeth.” (Here’s the clip.)
THOMAS RHETT, LAUREN AKINS TO CO-HOST CMA COUNTRY CHRISTMAS SPECIAL
Thomas Rhett and his wife, Lauren Akins, will co-host this year’s CMA Country Christmas special, set to air on Monday, Nov. 30th at 9 p.m. ET on ABC. Thomas and Lauren made the announcement yesterday (Wednesday, Nov. 11th) during an appearance on ABC’s Good Morning America.
Thomas said, “We can’t wait for you all to get to watch that and get into the holiday spirit with us.”
Lauren added, “I feel like this year, everyone’s needed things to celebrate and look forward to and so it was like the second Halloween was over…I started decorating for Christmas.”
Performers for CMA Country Christmas will be revealed at a later date.
Thomas Rhett and his wife put their Christmas lights up on Halloween day. He says they go straight from Halloween to Christmas every year.
KELSEA BALLERINI CLEARS UP PREGNANCY SPECULATION
Kelsea Ballerini is definitely not pregnant and she’s offended you would ask. After her performance on the CMA Awards this week, a fan tweeted, “Could our sweet adorable @KelseaBallerini be pregnant???”
Kelsea immediately responded, “I’m sure you mean well, but it’s incredibly insensitive to ask or assume if another woman is pregnant. I’m not, by the way. Just carrying around my organs. But if I were, I’d want to share that in my own time when I felt ready. Let’s not judge bloat levels on the internet.”
In other Kelsea news, she has released a new version of her single, Hole In The Bottle,” featuring Shania Twain just today (Friday, Nov. 13th).
Kelsea said, “She’s inspired me in every way and has become a mentor and friend and added some major sass and spice to hole in the bottle the way only Shania could.”
Shania added, “She’s an incredible raw talent. I love ‘hole in the bottle,’ it really speaks to my own sense of humor and it was so cool to get to do it with a friend.”
Kelsea sang “Hole In The Bottle” on the CMA Awards and she gave a nod to Shania during the performance by sporting a top hat and ending the song by saying, “Let’s go girls,” which is the opening line to Shania’s “Man, I Feel Like A Woman.”
