CK Mornings

A Canadian dairy co-operative says it is recalling two types of ice cream sandwiches over concerns there might be metal particles in the product.

The company Agropur says the Iceberg brand sandwiches sold in boxes of 8 and the Originale Augustin brand sold in boxes of 30 are being recalled and were sold in Ontario, Quebec, and Atlantic Canada.

Customers can return the boxes to stores for a full refund.

This one might give you nightmares. A doctor in Vietnam has shared a video of himself removing a butterfly from a patient’s ear canal. Dr. Tuan says the patient came in recently complaining of ear pain, and thought an insect may have crawled into his ear. The doctor used a camera to look into the patient’s ear and discovered a small butterfly deep in his ear canal. He removed the bug with a pair of tweezers.

TODAY’S GOOD NEWS

Three teenage boys in the Niagara area were driving to a Tim Horton’s last week to get some snacks around one in the morning.  And they saw a woman’s car broken down in the middle of an intersection.

Their names are Bailey Campbell, Aeron McQuillin, and Billy Tarbett.  And they’re all between 15 and 18 years old.

Her car was smoking, so they knew it wasn’t drivable.  And she didn’t have money for a tow truck, but they wanted to help her out.

So they talked it through, then offered to PUSH her car all the way home . . . just over FOUR MILES.

Another random guy stopped to help, then followed behind them with his four-ways on to make sure no one crashed into them.

It ended up taking almost two hours to get her home.  Then they all went to bed around 4:00 AM.  And when they woke up, they’d gone viral.

The guy who followed them posted photos on Facebook praising them for it.  Aeron says he hopes it inspires more people to step in and help someone in need.

Swedes Are Getting Implants in Their Hands to Replace Cash, Credit Cards

Thousands of people in Sweden are having futuristic microchips implanted into their skin to carry out everyday activities and replace credit cards and cash.

More than 4,000 people have already had the sci-fi-ish chips, about the size of a grain of rice, inserted into their hands and they soon hope to take it global.

Like glorified smartwatches, the chips help monitor their health and even replace keycards to allow them to enter offices and buildings. They have particularly caught on, however, by enabling owners to pay in stores with a simple swipe of the hand.

The microchips were pioneered by former body piercer Jowan Österlund. “Tech will move into the body,” the Biohax International founder said. “I am sure of that.”

Österlund insists the technology is safe — but that has not stopped alarm bells from ringing, with some fearing a link to a doubling in cybercrime in the country over the last decade.

WHY TWO OUT OF THREE BABIES ARE HELD ON THE LEFT

If you’ve ever held a baby, you likely cradled it on the left side of your body.

Researchers analyzed old studies, and found between 66 and 72 percent of people hold an infant with their left arm. They found 74 percent of right-handed people held the baby on their left, while just 61 percent of left-handed people did the same.

It’s thought that right-handed people might hold a baby on their left to free up their dominant hand, but it’s also possible that since emotions are primarily processed in the right hemisphere of the brain, people may also tend to move their baby to their left side, which is linked to the right hemisphere of the brain.

The latter theory could be especially true for mothers who established a strong emotional bond with their baby during pregnancy.

LUKE COMBS WILL DONATE RATHER THAN DANCE AFTER THOMAS RHETT’S CHALLENGE

If you’re waiting for Luke Combs to accept Thomas Rhett‘s recent Dance or Donate challenge to bust a move and post it on social media for the United Cancer Front, you will be waiting forever. Of course, Luke supports the cause — and he says he’ll definitely donate dollars — but as he tells us, dancing is just not his deal. [“I’m not much of a dancer. I’m working on it enough for my upcoming nuptials in the next year or so. I’ve got enough pressure on me doing that, so I guess I’m just gonna have to donate, which I think, to me, is a lot better than people seeing my horrible dance moves.”]

Luke is still celebrating becoming the newest member of the Grand Ole Opry on Tuesday (July 16th) night.

He will join Sheryl Crow and Country Music Hall of Fame members Vince Gill and Emmylou Harris at this year’s All for the Hall benefit in Los Angeles on Tuesday, Sept. 17th at The Novo in the L.A. Live complex. Proceeds benefit the Country Music Hall of Fame and Museum in Nashville.
