A Belgian man spent 116 consecutive hours sitting on a toilet in a local bar in a bid to set a new Guinness World Record. Jimmy De Frenne sat on the toilet, which was not hooked up to any plumbing, in the main room of a bar. De Frenne said Guinness does not yet have a record for longest time sitting on a toilet, but he was able to best an unofficial record of 100 hours.

The record-seeker’s goal had been 165 hours, but he said he was forced to stop at 116 hours when lack of sleep started to catch up with him. De Frenne was allowed five-minute breaks every hour to stretch and use a real toilet.

A prototype of a “Star Wars” action figure sold for $112,926 at an auction last week.  It was a 3.75 inch Boba Fett figure, which never made it to toy stores.

It was put on display at the 1979 New York Toy Fair, but it was never mass produced, because it shot a little plastic rocket, so it was deemed a “possible safety hazard” for children.

Hake’s Auctions of York, Pennsylvania claims the sale set a new “world auction record” for the purchase of a “Star Wars” toy.

One of the most infamous murder houses is hitting the market in Los Angeles and you can own it for just $1,988,800. The house was the scene of the infamous LaBianca murders, where supermarket chain owner Leno LaBianca and his wife, Rosemary were both brutally murdered by the Manson family. The victim’s blood was used to spell out “Helter Skelter” on the refrigerator. The LaBiancos were killed the night after the grisly Sharon Tate murder. Next month marks the 50-year anniversary of the infamous murders, just as Quentin Tarantino’s movie, “Once Upon a Time In Hollywood” premieres.

Coffee Could Help You Burn Fat, According to a New Study

According to a new study out of England, drinking coffee just might help you burn off fat.

The researchers found that coffee can stimulate something called “brown fat” in your body.  That’s a special kind of fat that heats up and burns calories. Now . . . this isn’t a license to start drinking two dozen cups of coffee a day and hoping it makes you supermodel skinny.

The researchers say that more studies are needed . . . but for now, this link between coffee and burning fat DOES look promising.

HERE’S HOW MUCH CAFFEINE IS IN DECAF COFFEE

If you think decaf coffee is actually free from caffeine, think again. Regulations require decaffeinated coffee to be just 97 percent caffeine-free, so you’re looking at about three percent in your cup to decaf.

And some decaf brews have more caffeine than others. Generally speaking, Robusta beans will have more caffeine left after the decaffeination process than Arabica beans.

Also, the longer than coffee is brewed, the more caffeinated it is– so if looking to avoid caffeine, opt for a blend that brews quickly.

TODAY’S GOOD NEWS

There’s a 56-year-old guy named Jeff Saville in Friendswood, Texas.

He’s single, and last week, he had a date.  But he didn’t know what to wear . . . so he took pictures in a few different shirts and sent them to his 19-year-old daughter Carli for advice.

She gave him some . . . then put the pictures on Twitter and wrote, quote, “Life with a single dad, asking for advice on date outfits” with a few “laughing so hard I’m crying” emojis.

Well, unfortunately for Jeff, the date stood him up and he was bummed.

But Carli’s tweet went VIRAL.

And since then, he’s been getting a TON of offers for dates from women online.

That “Old” Face App Comes From a Russian Company With a Very Loose Privacy Policy

If you’ve looked at any social media site in the past few days, you’ve seen someone using the Face App.  It’s the app that uses AI to alter your photos . . . and the most popular way to use it has been the filter that makes you look OLD.

And now that’s it’s been trending for a few days, time to dump a bucket of cold water on it:  Yup, it’s a privacy nightmare.

Turns out Face App is made by a company in Russia.  You’re giving it access to all of your photos.  And in their privacy policy, by using the app, you grant them permission to use your altered AND non-altered photos however they want for eternity.

It also immediately uploads your photos to a server rather than just processing them on your phone.  The company says they’re using a data center in the U.S., but there’s nothing stopping them from moving those photos elsewhere.

So is this a Russian project to build a facial recognition database on all of us?  It doesn’t seem that way.  Could it turn into that if they wanted it to?  Yep.  And there’s nothing you can do about it now if you’ve used the app.

Naomi Campbell Scrubs down Her Entire Seat before Plane Rides

Supermodel Naomi Campbell just revealed her airport routine in a YouTube video.

As soon as she finds her seat on the plane Campbell breaks out a pair of disposable gloves (!) and gets to work. In the video, Campbell first wipes down  anything that you could possibly touch, and she means it: the tray, the TV, the remote, the headrest even the back of the seat in front of her. “I do not care what people think of me,” she says, bluntly. “Its my health and it makes me feel better.” Post-wipedown, she pulls out a pink, fabric cover for her seat. On land, she has them hand-washed.

Then, Campbell moves onto her beauty routine. She has an entire plastic bag filled with beauty gear that she calls a “hydration pack,” and shes also been chugging water throughout the video. Also: “masks, masks, masks.” She means the beauty kind — but she also means the literal kind. Yep, the final step Campbell takes is putting on an actual face mask that she wears the entire flight. “No matter what plane you take, private or commercial, as the plane descends, people start coughing and sneezing,” Campbell says. “The coughing and sneezing makes me … I just cant.”

WORKIN’ HARD…OR HARDLY WORKIN’?
We all say that we’d have a lot less stress if only we worked less. But how much less?

A University of Cambridge study claims to have found the work pattern that would be best for employees’ mental health.

It took into account links between how much people work, their mental health and life satisfaction, and found that it is best for mental well-being to work just one day per week. Or eight hours in the course of a week.

That’s correct…the study found that those who work eight hours per week can expect to enjoy better boosts to mental health than either those who work full-time, or those who do not work at all.

While the study’s authors are quite aware that most of us can’t even imagine being able to survive on an eight-hour workweek, they suggest looking at other options, such as five-day weekends, limiting work to just a couple of hours per day, or increasing vacations and time off to months rather than weeks.

ERIC CHURCH’S LATEST HIT IS ‘COMING OF AGE’ TUNE

Eric Church is nearing the top spot on the country charts with his latest single, “Some of It.” He tells us the song is one that, like his fan base, shows growth and maturity. [“That’s a coming-of-age song, it’s an adult song. It’s adult music. If you listen to the thematics in that and what it’s about, it’s about being older and having some wisdom about you. I think that’s something that I appreciate in my fan base now that early on probably wasn’t there. We were young and drunk and fighting and stupid. But I think now to see them grow – to see the fan base grow – it’s just one of those songs that came along at the right time.”]

FAST FACTS

“Some Of It” is the second single from Eric’s Desperate Man album.

MIRANDA LAMBERT RELEASES NEW SINGLE TODAY – (07/18/2019)

Miranda Lambert‘s brand new single, “It All Comes Out In The Wash,” arrives at radio today (Thursday, July 18th). It’s the lead single from her upcoming project, and she co-wrote the song with a group of female hit songwriters who call themselves the Love Junkies — Hillary Lindsey, Liz Rose and Lori McKenna.

Miranda is a frequent co-writer of theirs, and she tells us their usual talks and her title came together to create this song. [“I had the title for awhile written down in my phone, and we like to talk about girlie things and things going on in life when we write together so I feel like this song is just kind of a mix of scenarios that either all of us have been a part of or seen or something that’s happened in all of our lives and realizing that when you have something in your life that’s a little hurtful or, you know, a moment that you wish would pass, it does all pass and it all comes out in the wash, and that’s something that all of our moms would say to us when we were little — let’s not worry about a stain — so I’m really proud of it. It’s a really fun song.”]

FAST FACTS

Miranda’s headlining Roadside Bars & Pink Guitars Tour 2019 launches on Friday, September 13th in Uncasville, Conn. She’ll be joined by special guests Maren Morris and Elle King as well as Pistol Annies, Tenille Townes, Ashley McBryde and Caylee Hammack on various dates.
