With marijuana legalization set to come into effect in Ontario on October 17, a cannabis company is looking to hire five pot lovers for what is probably their dream job. Toronto-based cannabis firm AHLOT is offering up to $1,000 a month to five “cannabis connoisseurs” to sample various strains of marijuana. These new hires will form the company’s “Cannabis Curation Committee”, and it will be their jobs to create reports on the characteristics and quality of the company’s product. The company’s “bud brain-trust” will be paid $50 per hour for up to 16 hours of “work” per month, plus a $200 expense account. The marijuana enthusiasts — who must be 19 or older — will also write social media posts, appear in videos, and show up at company events. Recruitment started last week.

You would have to live under a rock not to have heard of the video game “Fortnite”. Well, it turns out it’s not just kids enjoying it. Problem is, some adults are enjoying it at the expense of their better half. According to a U.K. divorce website the online game has caused at least 200 divorces there this year. The website provides services, advice and a community for people facing divorce. They said they have received 200 divorce petitions which identify “Fortnite” as a cause for a couple to part ways. That’s about five percent of the total cases filed. The game rewards players for playing longer, which could make it tougher to stop.

The very last cars personally owned by Burt Reynolds will go on auction Saturday at the Mandalay Bay Resort in Las Vegas. As you might imagine, one of them is a 1978 Pontiac Firebird Trans Am, a recreation of his iconic ride in “Smokey and the Bandit.” There’s another ’78 Trans Am that’s a recreation of the one used in “Hooper” and an ’84 Trans Am that was used to promote the USFL Tampa Bay Bandits, which Burt owned. It’s not all Trans Ams though, there is also a 1987 Chevrolet pickup up for grabs. It’s a recreation of the one used in ‘Cannonball Run.’

COUNTRY MUSIC NOTE
Heartland is one of the few acts to have a #1 country hit but no other songs that even entered the top 40: specifically, their 2006 smash “I Loved Her First”. Although it was the first Top 40 hit for their entire label, and it made them only the second country band ever to send a debut single to #1, their label’s inexperience with Top 40 radio and indecision over what the next single should be stopped them in their tracks. The band later scored a second Top 10 hit in 2015… with a re-entry of the same song, which had a momentary surge due to a viral video in which a man translates the song into sign language at a wedding.

A new study found that people who followed an anti-inflammatory diet of fruits, vegetables, tea, coffee and, yes, even a moderate amount of wine and chocolate were 18 percent less likely to die prematurely.
Researchers from The Warsaw University of Life Sciences in Poland followed the eating habits of 68,000 Swedish men and women for 16 years. They found that participants who stuck to the diet were 13 percent less likely to die from cancer by 13 percent and 20 percent less likely to die from cardiovascular problems.
Even smokers who ate anti-inflammatory foods saw greater health benefits than smokers who didn’t. “Even partial adherence to the anti-inflammatory diet may provide a health benefit,” Joanna Kaluza, a professor at the Karolinska Institute in Solna, Sweden, wrote in the study.

Chug Four Cups of Coffee Right Before You Hit the Gym
According to a new study, you’ll get a better workout in if you chug FOUR CUPS OF COFFEE right before you hit the gym.
Researchers in Brazil gave people 400 milligrams of caffeine . . . which is roughly like four small cups of coffee, or two Five Hour Energy drinks. And they performed about 3% better than they did without caffeine.
Obviously 3% doesn’t sound like much, but a little boost like that can make a big difference after a while. And it also helped burn more fat.
Previous studies had found that caffeine can give you a workout boost, but only if you hadn’t had any for several days beforehand. This one found it doesn’t matter. Even if you drink coffee every day, it still works.
400 milligrams of caffeine is the upper limit of what you’re supposed to have per DAY though. So if you want to try it, you should only drink coffee before your workout, and skip it the rest of the day.
The people in the study didn’t actually drink coffee though. They took caffeine PILLS, which is probably the less pukey option.

CUT THE CORD:
People are increasingly opting to live without cable or satellite television. And that trend is moving faster than ever before, according to a new report which estimates that about 22.2 million have cut the cord this year.
And then there are the “cord-nevers.” The number of people who have never subscribed to cable or satellite television will reach about 35 million.
The report credits the growth of live streaming and over-the-top options like DirecTV and YouTube TV for the increasing pace of cable’s decline.

Sometimes GOOD things happen when movie or TV productions run out of money . . . because it forces them to IMPROVISE . . . and then something AMAZING happens.
Here’s a list of Five Iconic Onscreen Moments Made Possible by a Lack of Money:
- The Quick Stop sign in “Clerks”: Kevin Smithdidn’t have the money for movie sets, so he had to film in a real convenience store. But he only had permission to shoot at night, and he had to keep the window shutters down. So he wrote it into the script that they were STUCK that way, which led to the big sign outside that says, “I assure you we’re open!”
- The coconuts in “Monty Python and the Holy Grail”: They were supposed to have real horses, but there was no money in the budget for that. So they trotted on foot and banged coconut halves together to simulate the sound of the hooves . . .
Which was ultimately one of the funniest gags in the movie.
- The ice rink date in “Rocky”: Rocky and Adrian were supposed to go skating on a busy day, but they couldn’t afford to pay extras. So they did it in an empty rink, which made the scene more intimate and romantic.
- The TARDIS on “Dr. Who”: Dr. Who’s time-travel device was supposed to change shape to fit into its surroundings . . . but that would have cost too much. So they just kept it as the blue police box . . . which became of the most iconic vehicles in sci-fi history.
- “Breaking Bad”filming in New Mexico: Creator VINCE GILLIGAN originally wanted to set the series in Riverside, California. But they shot the pilot in Albuquerque, New Mexico because that’s all they could afford.
It gave the show a grittier feel that, according to Gilligan, made it a contemporary Western.

- With their 6-2 victory over the Baltimore Orioles yesterday, the Red Sox set a franchise record that dated back to 1912. It was their 106th win, making them officially the winningest team in the history of the franchise. The 1912 Red Sox went 105-47 on their way to the World Series championship.
- The Pittsburgh Steelers got their first win of the season yesterday, beating the Tampa Bay Buccaneers 30-27.
- Mother Nature struck again during filming of “Survivor: David vs. Goliath”, which premieres Sept. 26. And not once, but twice. Just like on “Millennials vs. Gen X”, a cyclone hit the Mamanuca Islands in Fiji during filming on the very first episode of David vs. Goliath. But that’s not all. A second, even more destructive cyclone hit during filming on a later episode as well. That apparently is the danger of filming in Fiji. Survivor has set up shop permanently in the country and shoots back-to-back seasons there, with about a two-week break between them.
- In light of his arrest last week for domestic violence against his wife, America’s Got Talentfinalist Michael Ketterer will not be joining Garth Brooks when he plays at Notre Dame Stadium next month.

In light of his arrest last week for domestic violence against his wife, America’s Got Talent finalist Michael Ketterer will not be joining Garth Brooks when he plays at Notre Dame Stadium next month.
Brooks extended the invitation last Wednesday (September 19th), the day before Ketterer was arrested. Brooks addressed the issue during his weekly Inside Studio G Facebook Live show yesterday (Monday, September 24th) saying, “Called him this weekend, we talked. We decided it was better that he not appear at Notre Dame and not perform there. That family will figure it out and find it within themselves, and of course the good Lord, and figure it out. Michael Ketterer will not be at Notre Dame.”
The Notre Dame Stadium concert is already sold out. It takes place on October 20th, and will be the venue’s very first concert ever.

Brett Eldredge has a brand new video out and it features the other celebrity in his household, his beloved dog, Edgar. The clip for “Love Someone” was shot in Nashville and sums up the perfect day as imagined by Edgar, including candle-lit steak dinners, motorcycle rides across the city, afternoons at the park and more.

Dustin Lynch on Going from Playing Frat Parties, to Having Dozens of Employees
There’s something interesting that happens to country artists when they start doing really well. There’s a moment when they realize they’re not just a performer, they’re also an employer with people counting on them for a paycheck.
DUSTIN LYNCH was recently talking about that. “Life has changed. I’ve gotta keep all my success to buy diapers for all these guys. It’s changed a lot.
“It’s gone from just me and my buds in my Ford Excursion playing frat parties and worried about where our next Waffle House stop is gonna be and more cold beer . . . to now having dozens of people that rely on us to keep this train going.” He says that motivates him to work hard every day.
