CK Mornings

A 37-year-old guy named Jason Mackenrodt robbed a bank at gunpoint in Waterville, Maine on Tuesday morning.  And then he ran away.

But as he ran through the parking lot of a Chinese restaurant across the street, he slipped on some ice.  Which made his gun fall out of his pocket . . . and a bunch of the cash he stole flew into the air.

And . . . it turned out he’d fallen and slid right in front of a police officer who randomly happened to be parked there at the time.

So Jason was arrested for robbery.

Here’s a police spokesman and an eyewitness talking about it.

A new study has found that insect populations are declining in big numbers around the world and it could potentially have a “catastrophic” effect on the planet’s ecosystems.

Scientists found that the number of insects is falling at 2.5 percent a year, and more than 40 percent of insect species could become extinct in the next few decades.

Causes of the insect decline include pesticides, habitat loss, pathogens, and climate change. Species that rely on insects for their food, like birds, and animals higher up the food chain that eat those species, would be hurt by the insect decline, as would the pollination of crops and wild plants.

TODAY IS……………….

  • “Valentine’s Day”, the most widely celebrated unofficial holiday. A few interesting facts …

– About 1 billion Valentine cards are exchanged, making it the 2nd largest card-sending occasion after Christmas.
– It may come as no surprise that Valentine’s Day ranks number one in terms of the freshest flowers sold and delivered.

  • “Donor Day”, encouraging us to fill out an organ & tissue donation card and also to donate blood. How appropriate that it’s on the day when we give hearts.

2005  YouTube is launched by a group of college students.
Fun Fact:  Jawed Karim uploaded the first YouTube video “Me at the zoo”.  He later made

$66 million from YouTube’s sale to Google.

Wedding Turns to Chaos When the Groom Hits on and Gropes an Underage Waitress

There’s a 31-year-old guy named Matthew Aimers, and he got married in Northampton Township, Pennsylvania back in late November.

And it’s safe to say the reception didn’t go as planned.  Apparently, Matthew got super drunk and did the following things . . .

  1. Hit on an underage waitress.
  2. Eventually followed her into the women’s bathroom, groped her, and exposed himself.
  3. Tried to pay her $100 to have sex with him.
  4. Got into a brawl with the country club staff when they wouldn’t let him take alcohol outside.
  5. Fought with the cops when they showed up.

He was hit with a ton of charges on Wednesday, including indecent assault, indecent exposure, imprisonment of a minor, harassment, simple assault, disorderly conduct, and resisting arrest.

There’s no word on how his new wife feels about all of this.

TODAY’S GOOD NEWS

Back in mid-December, a 24-year-old guy in San Diego named Ryan Caine went to the E.R. with pneumonia, which turned septic.  And he almost died.

He had to be in a medically-induced coma for six-and-a-half weeks, and doctors weren’t sure if he’d ever wake up.  But he did, and finally got to go home last Wednesday.

One of the first things he said when he woke up was, “Did I miss CHRISTMAS,” because it’s his favorite holiday.

His parents live on a street in San Diego where everyone goes all-out with their decorations.  People come from all over to see them, and locals call it “Christmas Card Lane.”

Anyway, Ryan was excited to be heading home.  But he was also bummed he missed the holidays.  So his mom told him not to worry.  And when he showed up on Wednesday, their Christmas decorations were still up, including their tree.

But the best part is a bunch of their neighbors put their decorations back up too.  They even did some caroling out on the street.

DOCTOR ONLY RECOMMENDS ONE FOOD TO PREVENT COLDS

We’re well into winter, and if you’ve managed to avoid getting sick– good for you. If you haven’t, you might want to add probiotics to your diet.

Steven Bowers, DO, says you can eat either a probiotic-rich yogurt, or take a probiotic supplement. A study from 2017 found people who ate probiotic-rich yogurt were found to have beefed up immune systems compared to those who only took a sugar pill. Probiotics seem to interact with microbes in our intestines, doing a variety of things, including helping keep viruses and bacteria from taking hold.

If you’re buying yogurt you should look for one that has to be refrigerated, says it contains “live and active cultures,” and contains at least six grams of protein, but no more than 200 calories, 4 grams of fat, or 30 grams of sugar.

HOW MANY COLDS HAVE YOU HAD SO FAR THIS WINTER?
An online poll of over 1,400 people reveals how many colds they caught last year:

36% none, zero

31% one

17% two

9% three

5% four or more

Getting Some Sleep

Can you remember the last time you woke up without an alarm clock, feeling refreshed, not needing caffeine?

If not, you aren’t alone.  But despite the fact that many people report not getting sufficient sleep, a professor of neuroscience and psychology and author of a book about sleep says that getting a consistent seven- to nine-hours of sleep is the single most effective thing we can do for our brain and body health.  Among the negative effects of skimping on sleep that you may not be aware of:

✓ Increased desire to eat (usually high-calorie snacks).
✓ Reduced effectiveness of weight-loss efforts.
✓ Increased risk of Alzheimer’s disease.
✓ Reduced physical stamina (10-30%).
✓ Increased risk of physical injury.
✓ Compromised immune system, increased risk of cancer.
✓ Increased risk of all major psychiatric conditions (depression, anxiety, suicidality, etc.)

Scientists have even started lobbying doctors to start “prescribing” a good night’s sleep (but not sleeping pills). Sounds like good advice.

Over 500 men were asked what they want, and 41% said they don’t want anything for Valentine’s Day.  It’s possible a lot of those guys just aren’t in relationships though.

The survey only asked if they were married or not.  And about a third of the guys weren’t.  So some of them are probably just single and don’t EXPECT to get anything.  25% of women also said they don’t want anything this year.

Did Miranda Lambert Dump a Salad in Some Woman’s Lap?

Would you like to hear a story about MIRANDA LAMBERT dumping a salad into some woman’s lap?  Who wouldn’t?  It happened Sunday at the Stoney River Steakhouse in Nashville.

Miranda was there with her mom and a family friend.  According to TMZ, it started when Miranda’s friend was in the men’s room and some older guy made a comment about Millennials and their phones.

Somehow, that led to a beef between the two of them.  At one point the old guy came over to Miranda’s table and started “screaming” at them.  That got Miranda so fired up she had to be held back.

Then the guy’s wife got into the mix and started “provoking” Miranda . . . so she walked over and dumped a salad in the woman’s lap.  The police were called, but by then Miranda and her people had left.  The cops didn’t file a report.

TMZ reached out to Miranda’s team, but they had no comment.  Reps for the restaurant aren’t talking either.

There’s a cell phone video and some photos that were taken during the chaos.  Unfortunately, you don’t see Miranda dumping the greens.  That already happened.

MITCHELL TENPENNY MAKES OPRY DEBUT THIS WEEKEND – (02/14/2019)

Mitchell Tenpenny will cross a big bucket list item off his list this weekend. He’ll make his debut appearance on the stage of the Grand Ole Opry on Saturday (February 16th). A Nashville native who has grown up in the music business, Mitchell tells us the moment will be nothing short of a dream come true and he’ll get to celebrate it with his entire family.[“The whole fam damily! Yeah, we’re gonna have everybody here. I can’t tell you what it’s gonna feel like. It’s something I’ve dreamed about my whole life. I’m just gonna have to step up there and let it just overtake me because that’s something that’s just . . . I don’t even . . . It’s not real yet. It’s not real yet, so I’ll see when I get there. This is something that I’ve always dreamed of ‘what would it look like’ and I don’t even know. I’m just so blown away that we have the opportunity to play it and (I’m) very grateful.”]

Mitchell celebrated his first Number One hit, “Drunk Me,” with an industry party in Nashville earlier this week.

JIMMIE ALLEN ON VALENTINE’S DAY: ‘IT’S UNNECESSARY PRESSURE FOR MEN’

Today is Valentine’s Day (Thursday, February 14th), but it shouldn’t really matter because if you’re with someone you love, everyday should be Valentine’s Day. Right? So says Jimmie Allen. In fact, not only does he think the holiday is useless, he tells us exclusively that it’s very one-sided. [“I feel like it’s a bunch of unnecessary pressure for men because it’s supposed to be a day where you celebrate the person you love, men and women, but yet a lot of times the pressure falls on men where men have to buy the flowers and men have to make the reservations, men have to do this, and if we don’t we’re a horrible person, but I’m like, ‘Wait a minute. What do men get for Valentine’s Day?’ I feel like if it’s supposed to be about the person you love both people should be doing something to make the other person . . . but also, there’s 365 days in the year. If you really love someone you’re not waiting for one day.”]

He hits the road with Kane Brown on the Live Forever tour beginning tomorrow
