CK Mornings

There’s a woman named Kristin Gyldenege who’s a real estate agent in the Houston area.  And she was recently struggling to get ANY interest in a house she was selling in Conroe, Texas.

So . . . she took new photos of the house, featuring two fitness models in their UNDERWEAR.

Unfortunately, the Houston Association of Realtors pulled the photos off the listing because, apparently, a bunch of people complained.

But Kristin is still happy.  Quote, “When I found out I had 100 complaints, I’m like, ‘Sweet, that’s like 10,000 people that have seen it.'”

So her plan WORKED.  She says the house hasn’t gotten any offers yet, but it’s finally drawing some interest.  Quote, “We had six showings yesterday.”

When’s your next getaway? Research shows that frequent traveling can help you handle stress more easily in your life, mostly because it allows you to literally withdraw yourself from stressful situations and environments for a little while. Also, according to a study traveling also helps increase your empathy– or your ability to relate to others. According to that study, 76 percent of respondents said they believe that traveling gave them “a more positive view on people from the countries they have visited, other cultures in general and on differences and diversity.”

ENTERTAINMENT

If you believe in UFO’s, Kurt Russel reported one to the tower while flying a plane in Phoenix.  Years later, his common law wife, Goldie Hawn, was watching a show about the UFO that had the most reports, including one from an aviator, and Kurt told her “That’s me!”  By the way, “Ollie” is actor Oliver Hudson, Goldie’s son, but was raised by both her and Kurt.

TODAY IS……………….

  • “Letter Writing Day”, when we’re encouraged to take a few minutes to send someone a handwritten letter. Letter-writing has almost become a lost art. When was the last time you wrote a letter to someone, either printed or in cursive?

  • “Red Planet Day”, commemorates the launch of the Spacecraft Mariner 4 on November 28,1964. The 228-day mission of Mariner 4 brought the spacecraft within 6,118 miles of Mars on July 14, 1965.

1895, the FIRST AUTOMOBILE RACE was held.  It took place over 52 miles of snowy roads from Chicago to Waukegan, Illinois.  The winner picked up $2,000. It took him 7 hours and 53 minutes to complete the round-trip.  His average speed was seven miles-per-hour!

1925, the GRAND OLE OPRY made its radio debut on station WSM.

1948, the very first POLAROID CAMERAS, went on sale.

TODAY’S GOOD NEWS

There’s a sheriff’s deputy in California named Jeff Dishmon who’s been colorblind his whole life, but he got a cool gift from his co-workers last week . . .

Special glasses that allow him to see colors for the first time.

He got pretty emotional when he tried them on, said it was a different world, and talked about watching a sunset with his wife.

HOUSEHOLD HACKS:
✓ Next time you want to clean away the grime in your shower or bathtub just cut a grapefruit

in half and sprinkle some salt on it. Scrub using the grapefruit halves and then rinse.

✓ To clean your dishwasher, leave a bowl filled with white vinegar in the top rack and run it on the hottest possible cycle.

✓ To clean a coffee grinder, grind up some uncooked white rice (to remove odors). Afterward, grind up 1 tablespoon of baking soda and then wipe it clean.

✓ You can create an automatic oven cleaner by leaving a bowl with ½ cup of ammonia in the oven overnight (don’t turn it on!). In the morning you can just wipe away the grime.

✓ Vomit on your carpet quite literally stinks. Mix baking soda with water into a paste, spread the mixture on the upchuck and let it sit overnight. You’ll be able to vacuum it up in the morning.

✓ Leather furniture looking a bit tired? Use some shoe polish on that leather sofa or La-Z-Boy and the markings will be no more.

✓ It doesn’t matter where the grease stain is (walls, clothes, etc). Just cover it with chalk, then after a few minutes wipe the chalk away with a moist towel. Bam, it’s grease-free!

WEIGHT FOR IT:
There are lots of benefits of being in a stable relationship.

There is, however, also a big drawback.  Researchers have found that couples who truly love each other have higher odds of gaining weight than those who are single.

One study found an average weight gain among those in a close relationship of 5kg (11 lbs).  Why does this happen?  Scientists are still working on that, but they have a few ideas:

Some people easily adapt their partner’s way of life (including eating and [lack] exercising).  And couples tend to make extra efforts to cook large meals together or go out to restaurants more often than those who aren’t in a relationship.

There is also the theory that weight gain among those who are in love can be brought on by the relaxed feeling that one gets from being in a secure relationship.  As we feel safe and secure, those relaxed feelings can bring on an increased appetite.

RANDOM REPORT

  1. Men in North Korea get beer rations, where they can get up to six free beers each month.

  1. Detroit is the only American city that’s ever had its population hit one million, then drop back below.  It had 1.8 million people in 1950 and now has about 680,000.  Every other city that’s made it to one million has stayed above that threshold for good.

  1. Human DNA and banana DNA are 50% identical.

  1. The most common city or town name in America is Springfield . . . there are 41 of them, including five in Wisconsin.

  1. How much did you sleep last night? Researchers have found that losing just a couple of hours of sleep at night makes you angrier, especially in frustrating situations.

Researchers say “Despite typical tendencies to get somewhat used to irritating conditions– an uncomfortable shirt or a barking dog– sleep-restricted individuals actually showed a trend toward increased anger and distress, essentially reversing their ability to adapt to frustrating conditions over time. No one has shown that before.”

  1. • “Christmas in Rockefeller Center” (NBC):  The 86thannual lighting of the iconic tree in the heart of New York City
  • “National Lampoon’s Christmas Vacation” (AMC): The classic tale of the Griswold family Christmas
  1. A youth football team was asked to meet at a Dick’s Sporting Goods for an end-of-the-year party, but that was a trick.  Once they lined up for the picture, Chiefs QB Patrick Mahomes surprised everyone and gave each of the kids a $125 gift card.

  1. Talk about having a rough day. A Michigan man’s dashboard camera was recording when snow flung from a highway overpass by a plow fell on his car and broke the windshield. Kevin Hoffer posted a video to Facebook showing his plight, which happened Monday morning (November 26th) on U.S. 131 near Michigan Avenue in Kalamazoo. Hoffer says he’s trying to find out if the county’s insurance company will cover the cost of a new windshield.

ERIC CHURCH TAKES TOURING TO A ‘DIFFERENT LEVEL’ IN 2019 – (11/28/2018)
