CK Mornings

Have you started your holiday shopping yet?  And no . . . that bag of Halloween candy you already ate doesn’t count.  A new poll found 16% of Americans . . . or around one in six . . . have already started shopping for the holidays.

Another 14% plan to start in October . . . 28% said November . . . and 15% won’t start shopping until December.

That includes 3% of Americans who won’t buy anything until the WEEK of Christmas.  Men are twice as likely as women to wait until the last minute.

“Tiger King 2” is coming to Netflix before the end of the year, and CAROLE BASKIN is NOT happy about it.  Carole did NOT take part in this one.  She says the director said they wanted to “clear the air” about how she was treated in the first “Tiger King”, but she told them to LOSE HER NUMBER.

She adds, quote, “There is no explanation for such a betrayal and false portrayal.  If people want to know the actual truth behind the big cat crisis in the U.S. and how it all started, they should be demanding to see ‘The Conservation Game’ film by Michael Webber.

Netflix isn’t saying much about “TK2” yet, but obviously, JOE EXOTIC could only participate from BEHIND BARS.

A woman’s Tweet is going viral, where she says that her son is sick . . . so HER mother gave her a bottle of Vicks VapoRub.  It looked old, so she checked the expiration date.  And it was 01-1987 . . . 34 years ago!

People started sharing their old bottles of Vicks VapoRub, and other “vintage” medications . . . from their grandparents’ cabinets and their own.  Then, the maker of Vicks warned that you shouldn’t use expired product, because they “couldn’t guarantee its safety and effectiveness.”

The woman didn’t care.  She said she used it, and it worked as expected.  She also confirmed that it hasn’t been refilled, and described it as, “single barrel aged.”

Researches from the University of California-Davis say that squirrels actually have personalities.  The personality traits can range from aggressive, to social, to careful, and even shy.  (Here’s a drop of the world “squirrel” from the movie “Up”.)

TOM FELTON . . . who you might know as Draco Malfoy from the “Harry Potter” movies . . . collapsed yesterday while participating in the Ryder Cup’s celebrity golf match in Wisconsin.

Tom suffered an unknown medical emergency that caused him to pass out.  Luckily, medical staff were around to help him onto a cart and take him for further evaluation.

Tom was playing with former NHL star Teemu Selänne, 1980 U.S. Olympic hockey team captain Mike Eruzione, and retired speed skater Dan Jansen.

No word yet on what caused the collapse, but he was conscious when he left on the cart.  Poor guy . . . he just turned 34 on Wednesday.

Five Questions We’re Googling About Pumpkins Right Now

Google sent out a list of the top five PUMPKIN questions we’re googling right now.  So we looked them up and answered them for you . . .

  1. “How can I make pumpkins last longer outside?”  Put them in a dry, shady spot.  And don’t carve them until closer to Halloween.

  1. “Where can I get pumpkins near me?”  A lot of grocery stores have them.  So do most Lowe’s and Home Depots.  Or just google, “closest pumpkin patch.”

  1. “How long do uncut pumpkins last?”  Uncarved pumpkins canlast two to three months before they start to rot.  (Is it just me, or is “uncut” a weird word to use?)

  1. “How long do carved pumpkins last?”  Jack-o-lanterns only lastfive to ten days.

  1. “Is a pumpkin a fruit or a vegetable?”  They’re technicallya FRUIT, because they’re the, quote, “edible reproductive body of a seed plant.”  Vegetables are the other parts of a plant that don’t have seeds, like leaves, stems, roots, and flowers.

That said, people in the culinary world don’t use that definition.  They think of them as vegetables, because pumpkins aren’t sweet like most fruit.

OH, BOTHER:
If Winnie the Pooh was a big deal to you when you were a kid (and really, wasn’t he a big deal to EVERYONE?), now you can live the Winnie the Pooh life. Pooh illustrator Kim Raymond is offering the chance to stay overnight at a replica of the storied bear’s tree house.

He is hosting two one-night stays at the “Bearbnb,” custom-built at the real site that inspired the fictional ‘Hundred Acre Wood’ in England, to celebrate the 95th anniversary of Pooh’s creation by A. A. Milne.

The house consists of one room that looks like it is built into a tree, complete with the Mr. Sanders sign above the door, and “hunny pots” in the cupboard inside. Guests will be taken on a tour of the area in Ashdown Forest that was the inspiration for books’ setting, and the stay includes playing “poohsticks” on Poohsticks Bridge and “hunny-inspired meals,” according to the Airbnb listing.

The house sleeps 4, and house rules permit “multiple naps” and encourage snacks of “a little something” at 11 a.m., the time Pooh famously took his refreshment. “Poohsticks” are mandatory and “strictly no heffalumps” are allowed. LINK: https://tinyurl.com/cb7x4n96

ASHLEY McBRYDE ON THE MEND AFTER HORSEBACK RIDING ACCIDENT

Ashley McBryde had to postpone Wednesday (September 22nd) night’s concert in Montana and last night’s (Thursday, September 23rd) show in Washington after getting injured in a horseback riding accident in Missoula. She received stitches at a local hospital on Wednesday, however no details about the incident were offered.

A story posted on Ashley’s Instagram on Wednesday read, “Earlier today, Ashley was enjoying her time in the beautiful state of Montana and had an accident while riding a horse. Will Thomas Rhett Have an Eric Church Duet on His Next Album?

THOMAS RHETT spent a lot of time during the pandemic writing music.  That’s how we got the album “Country Again, Side A”, which came out in April.  So, when is “Side B” going to drop?

Quote, “We’re getting close.  I thought it would be sooner, but I kept writing songs and recording them, and the label finally said, ‘You need to be finished’ and that’s all I needed to know.  So we’re getting close [and] will announce when it’s coming.”

He says it’ll have three or four collaborations, but he’s keeping the names close to the vest until the tracklist is announced.  You may have heard that Thomas and ERIC CHURCH wrote a song called “Salt”.  Will that be one of the collaborations?

Quote, “We’ve been talking and texting about revisiting that song.  He was down [with] . . . and it’s my dream to do a collaboration with Eric, so maybe one of these days in the near future we’ll make that happen.”

BRETT ELDREDGE TO RELEASE NEW HOLIDAY ALBUM

Brett Eldredge will be releasing a new holiday album on October 22nd called Mr. Christmas. The project features the classics along with two originals, including the title track “Mr. Christmas,” which Brett co-wrote.

He said, “‘Mr. Christmas’ is something that I’ve been planning out for quite a while. This album is so much fun and full of joy and magic. From the album cover, you can find the magic of Mr. Christmas standing in the windowfront, looking out just like the old stores on the Rockefeller Plaza in New York City and people passing by in the window. We captured that nostalgic, classic feel that Christmas brings and mixed it with the soulful side of my music influences. It’s got a lot of heart and magic – it’s a special one for people to hear.”

Brett will support the holiday project with his annual Glow Tour, scheduled to kick off on November 13th in Las Vegas.

Mr. Christmas is Brett’s second holiday project. The first, Glow, was released in 2016
