CK Mornings

➢ Celebrity chef José Andrés was one of the first people to use his restaurants to give out free food when COVID hit.  And after the chaos at the Capitol this week, he stepped up again, handing out a bunch of free food to cops and first responders in D.C.

➢ A Brampton, ON man is facing charges after allegedly stealing a package from a home, and getting stuck in the snow as he was trying to flee. Video of the afternoon incident shows the 33-year-old attempting to make off with the package before the home’s front door swings open and the person filming can be heard saying, “You’re done.” The suspect then hops in his car and attempts to flee, before backing into a snowbank and getting stuck. The man can then be seen getting in and out of the car and trying to remove the snow and free his front wheels to no avail. Police eventually arrived and arrested him.

➢ You can recycle your Christmas tree and help out some animals in the process. The Lewis Adventure Farm in New Era, Michigan, is asking residents to donate their Christmas trees to them so they can be played with and eaten by the facility’s goats. The farm says the trees will be given to their herd of over 40 goats for enrichment and nourishment. They note that the needles are a good source of Vitamin C for the animals, and also that goats have very hard mouths, so they can safely eat the needles. Those looking to donate can leave their trees (with all decorations removed) at a drop-off spot in the facility’s front driveway.

➢ There’s a new cookbook out called “How to Eat Your Christmas Tree” that features a bunch of recipes you can make using your tree, including everything from fish to ice cream.  The author is an “artisan baker and cook” in the U.K. named Julia Georgallis.

➢ You won’t find many people who loved the 2013 series finale of “Dexter,” which left everybody’s favorite serial killer in a self-imposed isolation as a lumberjack. But Michael C. Hall, who played ‘Dexter Morgan’ over eight seasons of the Showtime series, says he hopes the upcoming revival can make up for it. A 10-episode limited run is tentatively scheduled to premiere this fall. As Hall put it: “I include myself in the group of people that wondered, ‘What the (heck) happened to that guy?’ So, I’m excited to step back into it.”

GOOD NEWS

A drive-thru worker in Vaughn recently mentioned to a customer that he used to go to college but had to drop out because he couldn’t afford it.

So, a bunch of customers started a GoFundMe page that’s now raised over $20,000 to send him back to school.

They surprised him in the parking lot outside of the Tim Hortons where he works.

SPLISH-SPLASH:
So, you’re working from home these days…do you REALLY need to shower every day?

Short answer: No. For most adults, the biggest reason for showering is to reduce body odor, according to Elaine Larson, professor emerita at Columbia University School of Nursing in New York.

She says showering less can be a good idea because it helps keep beneficial microbes on your skin. She recommends that adults shower every 3-7 days, unless they are very active or prone to infections.

And older people with drier skin may benefit from showering less frequently too.

TWEETS ABOUT MARRIAGE FROM 2020 THAT BELONG IN THE HALL OF FAME:
⇒ Made it to that level of marriage where you get in trouble for being able to fall asleep so fast.

⇒ Before marrying someone, listen long and hard to the sounds of their chewing because that’s the soundtrack to the rest of your life.

⇒ My wife said she’d buy her own birthday cake this is a test, right?

⇒ My wife didn’t order anything from Amazon yesterday so the UPS guy knocked on our door to see if we’re okay.

⇒ There are two kinds of people. The ones that pack six days before a trip, and the ones that wake up day-of and realize they need to do a load of laundry. And they marry each other.

⇒ Listen: I just found out that my husband eats spaghetti with a spoon so I can’t listen to your problems right now.

⇒ In 34 years on this planet I’ve learned one very important lesson that I’m going to pass on to you fellas. She can eat your fries. You cannot eat her fries – Crockett

⇒ Due to personal reasons, I’ll be flushing the toilet every time my husband showers this week.

Tonight, is a sad television milestone.  Alex Trebek’s last episode as host of “Jeopardy!”  It was originally set to air on Christmas night, but many thought that was too sad for a joyous holiday.  What will he say?  Here’s a tribute to his courageous final year on the show, that he hosted from 1984 until tonight.  (It was taped in October 2020. 1. A writer for “Late Night with Seth Meyers” shared a video of the very end of the “Muppet Family Christmas” back in 1987 . . . when the happy, festive ending was RUINEDby a voiceover announcing an upcoming “Nightline” story about keeping “doomed” babies alive to harvest their organs. (??????????)

MORGAN WALLEN’S ‘DANGEROUS’ NEW ALBUM ARRIVES AT RETAIL TODAY

Morgan Wallen‘s sophomore album Dangerous: The Double Album, officially sees released today (Friday, January 8th).

Morgan took nearly three years to make the double album which features a total of 30 songs, largely thanks to the quarantine. [“You know, that was never the goal number. We didn’t really have a goal number in mind. It’s kind of just what happened, you know? I felt that every song was unique and told a unique story and I was proud of all of them so we just kind of said why not, you know, and especially right now I think people are really eager for music and they need music. I need it, so I don’t know, it just seemed like the right time to do something like this and it was a lot of work but it’s been very rewarding so far and I’m really proud of what we came up with.”]

Morgan will celebrate the release of Dangerous with a live performance of his new songs from the Ryman Auditorium in Nashville on Tuesday (Jan. 12th). The one night only, full-band Nashville concert will be livestreamed for free worldwide on Morgan’s YouTube and Facebook pages at 9 p.m. ET.

BRETT YOUNG PROUD TO SHARE DAUGHTER OFF ON SOCIAL MEDIA

Brett Young and his wife, Taylor, enjoy sharing their baby girl, Presley, with fans on social media. While they are certainly protective of their one-year-old, Brett tells us that at this point, they’ve decided to pretty much be an open book.

He explains: [“We talked about that a lot, and we just basically decided to go into it without any borders, without any limitations, and if anything makes us feel uncomfortable then we’ll start talking about it, but I think country music fans wanna see that, and aside from the occasional crazy person that says the most off-beat thing, I think for the most part people wanna be involved because they want a glimpse in to your life.  So, we decided to not make any rules and just to see how we felt about it, and so far it’s been fun to watch people be happy for us and this stage in our life.”]
