CK Mornings

ERIC CHURCH won Entertainer of the Year at last night’s CMA Awards, while MAREN MORRIS took home three awards.  She won Female Vocalist of the Year and her song “The Bones” won Single of the Year and Song of the Year.

LUKE COMBS also had a good night.  He won Male Vocalist of the Year, and Album of the Year for “What You See Is What You Get”.

Reba McEntire co-hosted the CMAs with Darius Rucker last night, and like the pro she is, she had a great line after she accidentally coughed introducing an award.  (From “The 54th Annual CMA Awards” on Wednesday, November 11, 2020)

➢ A new study says living in a friendly neighborhood strengthens your parenting, and supports your child’s development. The study of over 4-thousand families found that neighborhood connections can help increase a child’s or adolescents’ resilience, and decrease a young person’s likelihood of engaging in self-harming, aggressive, or antisocial actions.

➢There are almost 100 million cows in the U.S but according to a new survey of Americans between 11 and 24 years old, 54% say they’ve NEVER seen a cow in real life.  That means the majority of that generation has never seen a cow in person.

Here are some of the other things that large numbers of them have never done . . .

  1. 43% have never gone camping or even hiking.
  2. 27% have never seen the sun rise.

➢Officials at a public school in North Carolina had a fall harvest display which was put up a few weeks ago. But recently they shared photos showing the display had been destroyed. The Principal said she reviewed security camera footage and found it was a group of 11 cows that rummaged around the pumpkins and gourds looking for snacks. In a Facebook post the school wrote, “Thank goodness the damage was repairable, we got pictures of the 11 perpetrators! If you recognize any of these hooved hoodlums, let us know!”

➢ Chris Stapleton did a funny bit on Kimmel last night.  It was a fake commercial for his new holiday album, “A Very COVID Christmas.”  (From “Jimmy Kimmel Live!” on Wednesday, November 11, 2020.)

TODAY IS……………….

  • “International Guinness World Records Day”, an annual celebration of record-breaking, a day which sees thousands of people around the world come together with one common goal, to become a title holder.

MORE RECENT RECORDS:
⇒ An Austrian man chilled out for just over two-and-a-half hours in a full-body ice bath — breaking his own world record by almost 30 minutes. 42-year-old Josef Koeberl needed 440 pounds of ice cubes to fill a custom-made, transparent box up to his shoulders on Saturday. Wearing only a swim suit, he sat inside the box in front of a small crowd, and kept his cool for 2 hours, 30 minutes and 57 seconds.

⇒ Running a mile in 5:30 is pretty good by any standard. It’s even better when the running is done backward. 34-year-old Aaron Yoder bettered his own record for the backward mile recently by an impressive 24 seconds. The longtime forward-motion runner now races in reverse due to knee damage.

FOUR RANDOM FACTS

  1. Kitty litter was invented in Michigan in 1947.  Before that, people just used soil or ashes.

  1. If you add up all the numbers on a roulette wheel, you get 666.

  1. Pat Moritawas 52 when he played Mr. Miyagi in “The Karate Kid”.  Ralph Macchio just turned 59

  1. “Poltergeist” comes from the German words “poltern geist,” which translates to “noisy ghost.”

GOOD NEWS

A Dad in Ohio named Jim Comer pulled a guy from a burning house on Halloween, and was dressed as a superhero when he did it.

He was walking around with his family, who all dressed as characters from the show “The Boys” this year.

Woman Angry About Not Getting Free Hotel Breakfast Drives a Stranger’s Truck into a Pond

Last week, a 34-year-old woman named Marlo was staying at an Extended Stay Deluxe hotel in Jacksonville, Florida.  And she got into an argument with the front desk over the hotel not providing a free breakfast.

A guy who was waiting in line in the lobby apparently told her to settle down.

So she threatened to KILL him . . . and then stole his truck and drove it into a pond.  It was almost completely submerged before the cops found it.

She was arrested for theft of a motor vehicle, criminal mischief, battery, assault, and aggravated battery.  On the plus side:  Free breakfast in jail!

Woman Tries to Dine-and-Dash Through the Ceiling Vents But Crashes

Back in March, a woman in Burnaby, British Columbia tried to dine-and-dash from a restaurant.  But instead of running out the front door like a normal petty criminal, she went into the bathroom and tried to escape by climbing into the celling vents.

But, like most of us know, the whole “crawling through the vents” move doesn’t work in real life.

The manager at the restaurant figured out what she was doing and called the police.  They could hear as the woman maneuvered through the ceiling . . . and then came crashing down right onto the kitchen floor.

The reason this story is surfacing now, several months later, is because the police released a video of the woman falling from the ceiling.

Anyway, somehow she wasn’t hurt in the fall, but she WAS arrested on the spot.

SEALING IS SOARING:
Tupperware the food storage product company announced soaring profits last week, fueled largely by demand from pandemic-era home chefs.

After a string of dismal earnings recently, Tupperware announced profits of $34.4 million for the third quarter of 2020, up from $7.8 million in the same quarter last year. CEO Miguel Fernandez said “The pandemic has created a new norm with more people living at home and increased consumer concerns regarding food safety and food storage.”

And the best days for Tupperware might be yet to come. It also hopes to benefit from increased demand for reusable products that replace single use plastics and other disposable items.

JIMMIE ALLEN

JIMMIE ALLEN had the honor of presenting CHARLEY PRIDE with the Willie Nelson Lifetime Achievement Award.  He introduced the video tribute, and then Charley hit the stage to perform one of his biggest hits, “Kiss An Angel Good Morning”.

Here’s Jimmie Allen talking about Charley Pride getting the Lifetime Achievement Award at the CMAs.  (He credits Charley for opening the door to other black country artists, like himself, Darius Rucker, Kane Brown, and Mickey Guyton.)

Eric Church and Maren Morris Won Big at Last Night’s CMAs

A female did NOT win Entertainer of the Year winner at last night’s “54th Annual CMA Awards”.  But ERIC CHURCH did, and you can’t feel bad about that.  He’s the real deal and he earned it.  Even his acceptance speech was interesting.

MAREN MORRIS did represent.  She took home three awards, which led the night.  She won Female Vocalist of the Year . . . and her song “The Bones” won Single of the Year and Song of the Year.

LUKE COMBS also had a good night.  He won Male Vocalist of the Year, and Album of the Year for “What You See Is What You Get”.

There were more last minute cancellations.  An undisclosed RASCAL FLATTS band member, and someone in LADY A’s circle tested positive, so they stayed home.  Add that to LEE BRICE and TYLER HUBBARD being quarantined, and so goes 2020.

Want another 2020 moment?  Luckily, the CARLY PEARCE and CHARLES KELLEY performance of “I Hope You’re Happy Now” was pre-taped . . . because Charles wasn’t at the show thanks to the Lady A cancellation.

Are Political Differences Breaking Up Florida Georgia Line?

Is FLORIDA GEORGIA LINE on the verge of breaking up?  They did already have a social media breakup.  TYLER HUBBARD and his wife Hayley unfollowed BRIAN KELLEY and his wife Brittney on Instagram.

Somebody picked up on that and the news spread like wildfire on the Internet.  It got back to Tyler, so he tried to quiet things down by refollowing Brian.  But how did this all start?  Seems to be their political differences.  Tyler leans left, Brian doesn’t.

And Brittney shared THIS in a recent post, quote, “I never considered a difference of opinion in politics, in religion, in philosophy, as a cause for withdrawing from a friend.”

Brian is also one of several country artists calling the Joe Biden victory celebrations in the street hypocritical.  If those can happen then they should be allowed to start touring again.  He even wrote, quote “Covid can’t get us now, yay.”

That was around the time Tyler announced he “got the rona.”  If Brian knew about that but still did the Covid comment, well, that’s pretty cold.  Anyway, a source told Us Weekly that Tyler and Brian’s friendship “is as strong as ever.”
