➢ “Jeopardy!” host ALEX TREBEK lost his battle with pancreatic cancer yesterday.  He was 80 years old.  Hosting “Jeopardy!” since 1984, Trebek won seven Daytime Emmys from 34 nominations, and also a Peabody Award.  He also holds the Guinness World Record for Most Game Show Episodes Hosted. Alex’s first hosting gig was the Canadian show “Reach for the Top” in 1966.

About a year ago, Alex said he wasn’t afraid of dying.  Quote, “I’ve had one hell of a good life. And I’ve enjoyed it . . . the thought of passing on doesn’t frighten me . . . Hey folks, it comes with the territory.”  His final episode will air on Christmas Day.

 

➢ JOE BIDEN will be the 46th U.S. President and a French reporter was in the middle of the Joe Biden victory celebration in Washington D.C. on Saturday . . . when he got interrupted by some shirtless American guy who started reeling off French clichés. He said, quote, “I’ve been to France, it’s beautiful.  I ate escargot.  I love a croissant, I love an omelette du fromage, hon, hon, hon.”  The clip went viral in France and now it’s everywhere.

 

➢ A guy with a knife tried to rob a take-out restaurant in Ireland, but ran off when an employee behind the counter pulled out an even bigger knife.  (

 

➢ After you hear this, you’ll NEVER be able to look at a selfie again without studying what’s in the background. A woman named Sydney Kinsch posted a video on TikTok earlier this week showing how she caught her boyfriend of four years cheating on her.

He sent her a selfie from the car.  And when she looked in the reflection in his sunglasses . . . she saw another woman’s legs.

It may sound like she did some serious detective work there . . . except that it was actually pretty blatant.  It’s more surprising her boyfriend DIDN’T notice before he sent the selfie.

Anyway, she says she confronted her boyfriend, they got in a huge fight, and she found out he’s been cheating on her with at least five other women.

 

➢  The National Toy Hall of Fame just announced the three toys it will be inducting this year.  And they are:  Jenga . . . sidewalk chalk . . . and Baby Nancy.

If you aren’t as familiar with the last one, Baby Nancy was one of the first popular black dolls ever.  It debuted in 1968 and the people behind the Hall of Fame say it made, quote, “commercial and cultural breakthroughs.”

In 2014 on this date, Germany commemorated the 25th anniversary of the fall of the wall with a balloon-release ceremony and celebrations throughout the country.

 

• “World Orphans Day”, raises awareness about children who are orphaned and displaced around the world, with the goal of strengthening humanitarian aid towards them. Organizations, groups, and individuals in more than 50 countries observe the day.

Five Ways to Unwind If You Had a Stressful Week

Between the election and the worsening pandemic, a lot of people had a VERY stressful week.

 

1. Unplug.  Even just signing off social media or turning off your phone for a few hours can help.  And definitely don’t check work emails.

 

2. Listen to music.  Research shows that listening to music can help slow your heart rate and lower blood pressure.  It doesn’t have to be relaxing classical music . . . just something you like.

 

3. Get outside.  Take a walk or go for a bike ride this weekend.  Or even just drive around with the windows down so you can feel the wind on your face.

 

4. Do something creative.  Draw a picture, take some photos, write in a journal, or decorate a room in your house.  Letting your mind get some creative energy out can be therapeutic and rejuvenating.

 

5. Snuggle your pet.  It’s been shown to help relieve anxiety and depression.  And hopefully your pet will enjoy it too.

1. A woman named Chamoy Thipyaso from Bangkok, Thailand received the longest prison sentence in world history back in 1989 . . . 141,078 years for running a $204 million pyramid scheme.  She only served about eight years though.

 

2. The only member of ZZ Topwithout a beard is the drummer . . . whose name is Frank Beard.

 

3. Pringles are only about 42% potato . . . the rest is wheat starch, flour, oils, salt, and seasoning.  And because of that, they’re not legally allowed to be called “potato chips” . . . technically they’re “potato crisps.”

 

4. Several decades before Richard Jenkinsplayed John C. Reilly’s father in “Step Brothers”, he worked as a truck driver.  And his boss at that job was . . . John C. Reilly’s father.

 

 

GOOD NEWS

Adam Lawrence, 29, met Anna Hosey, 26, in a Facebook group named THIS CAT IS CHONKY last October, and now the pair are engaged.

 

Lawrence, who is graphic designer from the U.K., shared a picture of himself holding a friend’s “chonky” cat. He noticed that Hosey commented he was “cute” and messaged her not long after. The couple hit it off and within two months of speaking, Lawrence boarded a 4,000-mile flight from London to Chicago to meet Hosey. And two months after that, Hosey returned the favor with a visit to London.

 

Fast-forward to May 2020 and Lawrence’s planned trip to the U.S. was canceled due to the coronavirus lockdown. However, Hosey ventured back to London in July when the U.K. first lifted its lockdown orders. Hosey, who is a hairdresser, has remained in the country since then.

 

Just when Hosey was preparing to leave, Lawrence proposed to her in his bedroom.

So far, the couple hopes to marry next year and start a new life in the U.K.

This Week in Science: Why Viruses Spread Faster in Winter

It’s time for “Nerd News,” covering the most important news for your brain you may have missed.  Here’s a quick rundown of this week in science . . .

 

1. Duckbill dinosaur fossilswere recently dug up in Africa, and no one knew how they got there.  Africa was an island when duckbills roamed North and South America 66 million years ago.  So now researchers think they got there by crossing the OCEAN.  The continents were a lot closer, only hundreds of miles apart.  So they could have floated there on debris.  Or it’s possible they knew how to swim.

 

2. With ancient humans, we’ve always thought men hunted and women gathered.  But a new study found women might have been skilled hunters too.  Researchers found a 9,000-year-old woman in Peru who was buried with weapons and other hunting tools.

 

3. Why do viruses spread more easily in the winter?  We think it’s because of the cold, and because we tend to stay indoors more.  But a new study thinks radiation from the sun plays a role too.  UV rays kill viruses, and we don’t get as many of them in winter.

 

4. Doctors in France scanned people’s brains to understand why great music sometimes gives us chills.  They saw surges of activity in two areas . . . the prefrontal cortex that deals with emotions, and the right temporal lobe that processes sound.

When those areas work together, we release a ton of the “feel good” hormone dopamine.  And when you’re anticipating a great part of a song coming up, you’re even MORE likely to get chills or goosebumps when it hits.

Families stuck at home have resorted to playing board games again, and that’s benefiting Hasbro. The maker of “Monopoly” and “Magic: The Gathering” reported a 21% jump in gaming sales as the result of homebound people looking for ways to occupy their time.

 

Branded “Star Wars” and “The Mandalorian” toys also “delivered strong revenue growth,” according to the company.

JOE BIDENwill be America’s 46th president.  On Saturday, Pennsylvania and Nevada were called for Biden, which pushed him over the 270 electoral votes needed to win.  He gave a victory speech on Saturday night. PRESIDENT TRUMP has refused to concede, and is holding onto hope that those claims of voter fraud will actually pan out.  His team is still pursuing legal challenges to the vote in several states that he’s lost, or is in the process of losing.

Trump hasn’t mentioned or alleged voter fraud in any of the states that he won.

 

3. Dave Chappelle got real about the division in America in his monologueon “SNL”.  He challenged Americans to not hate EACH OTHER . . . but to focus on forgiving each other and living our lives.  (From “Saturday Night Live” on Saturday, November 6, 2020)

 

4. Comedian Demetri Martin always has an interesting way of looking at things.  In this case, mysteries.  (Like if he had a bookstore, the whereabouts of the mystery section would be “a damn good question.”)

 

 

WEEKEND LOTTERIES

There was no winning ticket for the $19 million jackpot in Friday night’s Lotto Max draw.

The jackpot for the next draw on Nov. 10 will grow to approximately $24 million.

 

No winning ticket was sold for the $6-million jackpot in Saturday night’s Lotto 649 draw.

However, the guaranteed $1-million prize was won by a lottery player in Saint John, New Brunswick.

The jackpot for the next Lotto 649 draw on Nov. 11 will be approximately $8 million.

 

 

Lee Brice Has COVID-19, and Will Not Perform at the CMAs

LEE BRICE has tested positive for COVID-19 and will NOT perform at Wednesday’s CMAs.  Thankfully, he’s “in good spirits and not experiencing any symptoms.”  He’s at home isolating until he’s cleared by a doctor.

His rep issued a statement, saying, quote, “Lee would like to thank the CMAs and all of his incredible fans for his nominations and is wishing his fellow nominees an incredible evening celebrating the best of country music.”

Lee was tested and received his result BEFORE arriving on-site for rehearsals.  That’s important because the CMAs are not doing the virtual thing.

He and Carly Pearce were going to perform their duet, “I Hope You’re Happy Now”, which is up for Musical Event of the Year and Music Video of the Year.  There’s no word if she’ll be doing the song without him.

 

 

LUKE COMBS SAYS CMA ENTERTAINER NOD WAS ‘UNEXPECTED’

Luke Combs heads into this month’s CMA Awards with his first nod for Entertainer of the Year, alongside Eric Church, Miranda Lambert, Keith Urban and Carrie Underwood. He tells us: [“It’s obviously an honor to be nominated, I think a little bit unexpected, but I am excited, I’m glad to be there and that my group of my peers think that I’m good enough to be in that conversation. Obviously I think everybody in that category would tell you they would love to win, as would I, but I think it’s fine to not win as well. I would be totally fine with that. Just being there and being nominated is really cool, and I know people always say that, but winning would be great, and losing would be fine too (laughs).”]

Luke is also nominated for Male Vocalist, Album (What You See Is What You Get), Single (“Beer Never Broke My Heart”), and Song of the Year (“Even Though I’m Leaving,” “I Hope You’re Happy Now”) at the CMA Awards, which will air live from Nashville on ABC on Nov. 11th.

 

 

Riley Green’s Pandemic Activities Include Building a Garage and a Gym

Country stars have been checking in here and there with what they’ve been up to during the pandemic.  A lot have been spending time with the kids, or pranking their spouses, or binge-watching Netflix.

Then there’s RILEY GREEN who’s here to make us all feel like lazy slobs.  This is him ticking off his list.  Quote, “The first day back, me and my dad built a gym in my barn.  Then we built a lean-to off the back of it.

“I bought a tractor when I built my house and my dad’s just been tearin’ it up.  Since I’ve been gone I haven’t been on it, so I got to ride my tractor around.  Built a garage for some of my cars that don’t run to act like I’m working on ’em.”

While we’re on the subject: CMT.com has a page they call “16 Times Riley Green Was The Hottest Bachelor On Instagram.”  Every pic looks like the cover of “Men’s Fitness”.
