➢Some scammers were going door-to-door in California claiming they were collecting money for the local high school football team . . . they were caught when they didn’t realize they’d gone to one of the coaches’ houses.
➢On the market for a new house? What about one with a sinister past? The home where Lizzie Borden moved after her murder acquittal in 1892 is for sale, located in Fall River, Massachusetts. While the house has no reported history of hauntings, it does need significant renovation, which is arguably worse. The seven bedroom home could be yours for $890,000.
➢It’s important to know the local laws when traveling somewhere you’re unfamiliar with. Authorities in Italy say a French tourist was fined $1,200 for attempting to smuggle more than four pounds of the famous white sand from Sardinia out of the country. Sardinia’s Forest Rangers say the tourist was stopped at the Airport and ordered to pay the fine after a bottle containing the sand was found on him. A spokesman said “At the end of the year we usually have many bottles of sand accumulated.” A law introduced in 2017 made it illegal to take sand from Sardinia’s beaches.
➢This man could’ve been a hero—but luckily it wasn’t necessary. A London man recently dropped some old clothing into a donation bin when he heard a cat meow-ing. Alan McElligott says police and firefighters responded to the scene and agreed it seemed a cat was trapped inside the container. The firefighters eventually used heavy tools to open the locked contained, and found a battery-operated stuffed toy, a FurReal Friends cat, that produced “very convincing meows.” McElligott said the responding officers had a good laugh at the outcome of the unusual rescue.
➢ “Survivor” fans are going to have to wait a bit longer than usual for the next season. While many other shows have been able to resume production, Survivor has faced a series of unique challenges amidst this pandemic because the show films in Fiji. It was originally hoped that production could resume this fall, but due to new safety measures from the Fijian government, the country’s borders are closed to non-citizens. As a result, production will not resume in Fiji’s Mamanuca Islands until April at the earliest.

GIVE IT AWAY
Who wants to be a billionaire? Not this guy. Chuck Feeney, the cofounder of retail giant Duty Free Shoppers, wanted to die broke, and now he officially is. Broke, not dead.
The 89-year-old has finally given all his money away to charity –and he couldn’t be happier. Over the last four decades, Feeney has donated more than $8 billion to charities, universities and foundations while living a life of monk-like frugality.
His generosity influenced Bill Gates and Warren Buffett when they launched the “Giving Pledge” to convince the world’s wealthiest to give away at least half their fortunes before their deaths. His “Atlantic Philanthropies” was set up years ago as part of his plan to make high-impact donations and set a hard deadline to give away all his money. That organization was officially shuttered on Sept. 14 – mission accomplished. Where did the money go? Here’s a sample:
- $3.7 billion to education, including nearly $1 billion to his alma mater, Cornell
- More than $870 million to human rights and social change
- More than $700 million to health, including $270 million to improve healthcare in Vietnam and $176 million for the Global Brain Health Institute at the University of California
Why the generosity? He says: “I see little reason to delay giving when so much good can be achieved…Besides, it’s a lot more fun to give while you live than give while you’re dead.”

If you haven’t heard about this kid yet, he’s pretty amazing:
11-year-old Romeo Cox recently finished walking 1,700 miles just to visit his grandma. He lives with his parents in Italy, but his grandmother is in England. And he hadn’t seen her in over a year.
There weren’t any flights. So he tried to convince his parents to let him walk there by HIMSELF, and wouldn’t shut up about it. So his dad eventually agreed to go with him.
They left in June . . . spent 93 days hiking through Italy, Switzerland, and France . . . found a wild donkey along the way to carry their stuff . . . took a boat across the English Channel . . . and made it to her house near London late last month.

Guy Applies for a Job at a Pizza Shop with His Real Info . . . Then Robs the Place
A 22-year-old guy named Nicholas in Pennsylvania went to a pizza shop and applied for a job.
And when he was done filling out the job application, he grabbed the tip jar with about $220 inside off the counter . . . and ran outside.
An employee named took off after him, but Nicholas pulled a knife, so he backed off.
But because Nicholas had applied for the job using his real information, the staff had his name, address, and all of this other contact info to pass along to the cops. Plus Nicholas left his backpack behind with a bunch of drug paraphernalia inside.
The cops tracked down Nicholas and arrested him for robbery, theft, assault, possession of drug paraphernalia, and more.
Guy Is Busted for Speeding . . . and Has 20 Gallons of Moonshine in His Trunk
A guy was pulled over in North Carolina recently for speeding.
And the cops searched his car and found he was also in the process of . . . smuggling MOONSHINE. He had 20 gallon milk jugs filled with moonshine in his trunk that he was taking to . . . well, wherever people still want moonshine, I guess.
The North Carolina Alcohol Law Enforcement division confiscated the moonshine and they’re investigating.

- A Kentucky parent recorded a driver impatiently honkinghis horn as students wait for temperature checks before getting on a school bus.
Kentucky governor Andy Beshear said the guy that laid on his horn, while kids were loading onto a school bus, is a jerk.
- A mask less customer at a restaurant in Pennsylvania stiffeda waitress after she asked him to put a mask on. Instead of a tip, he just wrote “mask” in all caps. So someone who heard about it gave the girl 20 bucks. The owner of the restaurant was upset, and says the waitress was just following the rules. (But she’s willing to forgive and forget, and thinks maybe the person was just having a bad day.)

CARLY PEARCE IS HOPING FOR A FUTURE WITH THE OPRY
Carly Pearce recently performed on the Grand Ole Opry as part of their 95th birthday celebration. She has now played there more than 75 times and says she feels that of her generation, other artist don’t “put in the work” for the Opry like she does. Carly tells us more: [“I always associated playing the Grand Ole Opry with ‘making it.’ And when I played on my debut I was an Air B and B cleaner, so I had not made it, but I felt like in that moment, that the Opry took a chance on me. I didn’t have a song on the radio but they just believed in what I was doing. And to be able to really say … like, I know people play the Opry and stuff, but I don’t feel like there’s another artist in my generation that’s really put in the work the way that I have with the Opry. And I do feel like they kind of were one of the very first champions for me. And I meant it the day that I stepped on that stage, like I want to be a face of the Opry. I want to be one of those people, in the way that I feel like Carrie Underwood really took it on at the height of her career and put into it what it deserves, and I want to carry on that legacy. I think performing 75 times in five years, hopefully they know that by now.”]
Becoming an Opry member is on Carly’s bucket list. She’s been performing at the Opry for 5 years.
