CK Mornings

➢A crowd of people in gathered Saturday to watch as archeologists unsealed the first of 59 sealed sarcophagi, which contain the bodies of ancient Egyptian priests who were buried some 2,500 years ago. The first wooden sarcophagus contained a mummy wrapped in an ornate burial cloth, which had been decorated to resemble the deceased priest’s face.

The wooden sarcophagi were found earlier this year south of Cairo near Memphis, the former seat of Ancient Egypt’s power. The region is home to several pyramids, including the famous Giza Pyramids. The coffins will eventually go on display at the new Grand Egyptian Museum that is currently under construction on the Giza plateau.

➢A man in Shoreline, Washington, approached a woman at a bus station and offered to buy her two-year-old toddler for $1,500. According to reports, the woman declined but asked for his phone number and email address. Which he gave her. She turned the information over to the police, who called him and asked if he was still interested. He said no, but he’d like the mom to work for him as a prostitute. He’s in custody now.

➢Have you ever thought to yourself, “Someone should make a Broadway musical about grocery shopping”?  Well, good news.  This guy on TikTok posted clips of himself singing two songs he wrote on that very subject.

One is about how he just met someone in the grocery store . . . and the other is about how they’re now fighting in the grocery store.

➢ A small-town mayor in Russia talked the lady who cleans the town offices into opposing him in a recent election, just to meet a minimum requirement of two candidates per race. Imagine his surprise when Marina Udgodskaya beat him by a landslide. The successful candidate is modest about her victory, telling the media, “I didn’t think people would actually vote for me. I didn’t do anything at all!” The ex-mayor concluded that “Clearly the people wanted change.” A local shopkeeper said the entire village stands ready to help her do the job.

➢Recently, while eating hot wings on “Hot Ones”, Jessica Alba says that when she guest-starred on “Beverly Hills 90210” in 1998, she wasn’t allowed to make eye contact with the cast.  (“Hot Ones” is the show that has guests eat hotter wings as the interview progresses.)

CANADIAN PLASTIC BAN

Under a new list of single-use plastics being banned in Canada, plastic grocery bags, straws, stir sticks, six-pack rings, cutlery and food containers made from hard-to-recycle plastics will be out of use across the country by the end of 2021.

Environment and Climate Change Minister Jonathan Wilkinson announced the federal government’s next steps towards its plan to achieve zero plastic waste by 2030.

The environment minister said the government selected these items because there are already readily-available and affordable alternatives, and that while many items will have to continue to be single-use, they need to be items that can be recycled.

Already, some business groups are voicing concerns about the difference the ban will make and the “significant costs” some small businesses could be facing.

The federal government has a target of at least 50 per cent recycled content in plastic products by 2030.

According to the federal government, Canadians throw away three million tonnes of plastic waste a year, and only nine per cent of that gets recycled, and about one-third of the plastics used in Canada are for single-use or short-lived products and packaging, including up to 15 billion plastic bags used every year and close to 57 million straws used daily.

GOOD NEWS

Brittney Woodrum had a lot of plans for 2020 and was going to travel the world and continue her work for the various NGO’s she’d been working for before graduate school.

However, when the pandemic started, she realized that wouldn’t happen.

So she began to look for an organization she could partner with to make the most out of her newly flexible schedule. She quickly found and committed to ShelterBox — a mostly volunteer-run organization that provides emergency shelter and tools for displaced families around the world — recognized internationally by the turquoise box which physically holds the relief products.

As an avid hiker and lover of the outdoors, the 27-year-old decided she was going to climb all 58 of Colorado’s 14,000 feet peaks with the goal of raising awareness and funding for families around the world who have lost their homes and are now facing the threat of Covid-19.

Seventy-eight days and nearly 600 miles of hiking later, Woodrum raised $85,0000 from friends, family and strangers around the world. All while carrying the 14-pound box.

Woodrum — who said she only went grocery shopping twice throughout the entire journey. “It was definitely an adventure. I ate a lot of mashed potatoes.”

Kids Won’t Be Sitting on Santa’s Lap This Year

Children everywhere WON’T have to be traumatized by sitting on Santa’s lap this year for the sake of an overpriced mall photo.

Most malls around the country are making their Christmas plans.  And those plans DO include Santa . . . but DON’T include sitting on his lap.

They’re planning to hold no-contact Santa visits including masks, plexiglass dividers, and photos from six feet away.  Some malls will even have Santa sit inside a giant snow globe, or be behind a giant picture frame.

And in some areas, Santas will be available for Zoom calls with kids who don’t feel safe coming to the mall.

The big reason for doing this is mall Santas’ health.  According to a guy who runs a Santa school in Atlanta, quote, “Santas are typically in a minimum of two high-risk categories . . . over age 65 and overweight.”

WATCH OUT FOR OUIJA BOARDS

Ghost Hunter, Paul Marsters, is warning British store Poundland that selling Ouija Boards could unleash demons and destroy people’s lives.

He believes that the boards should only be in the hands of professional mediums, and that in the hands of children, they could be dangerous.

Marsters claims that on “Halloween night the veil into the spirit world is very thin, and says he dreads what will happen when these boards are in the wrong hands”.

Patrick Mahomes Regrets Hugging Stephon Gilmore, Who Just Tested Positive for COVID-19

The NFL is struggling to contain the coronavirus, as players on THREE different teams have just tested positive . . .

New England Patriots cornerback Stephon Gilmore, two more Tennessee Titans players, and a Las Vegas Raiders player.

Gilmore’s case is especially interesting . . . because he played on Monday night AND spent some time chatting and hugging Kansas City Chiefs superstar Patrick Mahomes after the game.

Naturally, Patrick regrets that now.  There’s no indication that he caught the coronavirus, but yesterday, he said, quote, “It was a little bit of a mental lapse.  Just trying to [show] sportsmanship and stuff like that.”

He also said that he and his pregnant wife are sleeping in different bedrooms during the pandemic, because he doesn’t want to bring anything home to her.

Morgan Wallen’s Maskless Partying Got Him Booted from “SNL”

“Saturday Night Live” has canceled MORGAN WALLEN’s appearance on this week’s show after videos and photos hit the Internet of him partying without a mask.  Most of it seemed to happen last Saturday.

He was in Tuscaloosa for the Alabama – Texas A&M football game.  Clips show him hanging out with maskless college kids, doing shots, sharing a bottle of whiskey, and making out with coeds.

All of that goes against safety protocols, so “SNL” had no choice.  Once the news hit that he was canceled, Morgan posted a video where he admitted that he made a huge mistake and vowed to change things.  Here’s some of that:

Quote, “I’m not positive for COVID but my actions this past weekend were short-sighted.  I respect the show’s decision because I put them in jeopardy.  I apologize to ‘SNL’, my fans, and my team for bringing me these opportunities, and I Iet them down.

“On a personal note, I have some growing up to do.  I think I’ve lost myself a little bit.  I’ve tried to find joy in the wrong places, but it’s left me with less joy.  I’m gonna take a step back from the spotlight for a little while and go work on myself.

“[It] may be a second before you hear from me for a while, but I’m gonna go work on me, and I appreciate y’all respecting that, and I’ll talk to you soon.”

He also said that “SNL” boss Lorne Michaels gave him encouragement and told him they’ll find time to make it up.

We wanted to be back on the road, but we were all excited when we got it.”]
