➢ A 12-year-old in Colorado was suspended from school after his teacher spotted him holding a green, toy gun during an online class. Cops also showed up at his house. His parents weren’t happy about how the school handled it.
➢ The National Toy Hall of Fame just announced the finalists for its 2020 class, including Jenga . . . Lite-Brite . . . He-Man action figures . . . My Little Pony . . . Risk . . . sidewalk chalk . . . and Yahtzee. The winners will be voted on by toy industry experts . . . plus public voting at ToyHallOfFame.org for the next week. Around three of the 12 toys will wind up getting inducted. They’ll be announced on November 5th.
➢ Probably the most famous golf caddy from the movies, Danny Noonan, in 1980’s “Caddyshack” wants to caddy at the U.S. Open Golf Championship. Actor Michael O’Keefe volunteered his services for this year’s tournament. The 65-year-old said in a Golf.com article, “If not now, I may not have another chance.” Here he is, with Chevy Chase, as the caddy in a scene from “Caddyshack”. (The 120th U.S. Open will be held without fans this year, and played next week, September 14th through the 20th, in Mamaroneck, New York.)
Trivia: What famous musician did Michael used to be married to? Multi-Grammy winning artist, Bonnie Raitt, 1991 to 1999.
➢ RICK MORANIS stepped away from Hollywood in the early ’90s to raise his kids after his wife died of breast cancer . . . and he’s basically been M.I.A. ever since.
But he’s been lured out of retirement to do a commercial with RYAN REYNOLDS for Mint Mobile. The clip is mostly just Ryan fangirling over Rick . . . and it’s awesome to see him again.
Ryan said in a statement, quote, “Like many Canadians and humans, I adore and worship Rick Moranis. From ‘Strange Brew’ to ‘Ghostbusters’ to ‘Spaceballs’ to ‘Honey, I Shrunk the Kids’. . .
This isn’t just a one-and-done for Rick. He’s also doing the new “Honey, I Shrunk the Kids”, with JOSH GAD starring as his son.
➢ You know how everyone is excited for that “Friends” reunion special? Well, now there’s going to be one for “The Fresh Prince of Bel-Air” too. Will Smith is onboard, along with Tatyana Ali (Ashley), Karyn Parsons (Hilary), Joseph Marcell (Geoffrey), Daphne Maxwell Reid (Aunt Viv #2), Alfonso Ribeiro (Carlton), and DJ Jazzy Jeff, who had a recurring role.
There will also be some “surprise guests” . . . although sadly they won’t include James Avery (Uncle Phil), who passed away in 2013. Also, it’s VERY unlikely that the original Aunt Viv Janet Hubert-Whitten will be involved, since she’s NOT on good terms with Will or the other cast members. The special is scheduled to tape TODAY . . . the 30th anniversary of the debut . . . and air sometime around Thanksgiving.
The reboot of “The Fresh Prince of Bel-Air” is on. In a YouTube video, Will Smith announced that the new series “Bel-Air” has been signed for two seasons by Peacock, NBCUniversal’s streaming service.

Five Changes Caused by the Pandemic That Might Be Permanent
In the long run, could the pandemic actually end up IMPROVING our lives in some ways? Here are five good changes we’ve had to make that might be permanent . . .
- More work-from-home jobs. COVID forced companies to figure out how to handle remote workers. So there’s a good chance you’ll see a lot more of those jobs out there, long after the pandemic ends.
- Watching new movies at home. Theaters won’t go away. But movies might hit on-demand earlier. And releasing them in theaters and on-demand at the same time might happen more.
- Having groceries delivered. It’s a lot more popular now than it was pre-COVID. And grocery stores have worked out how to get it done. Alcohol delivery has also boomed.
- Telehealth and teletherapy. It’s cheaper, and they can see more patients. So talking to doctors and therapists online before you see them in person might become the new norm.
- More outdoor dining options. Restaurants have had to invest in ways to serve people outside. And a lot of those outdoor areas will stay.

- Mangos were so popular in the ’60s and ’70s in communist China that when a guy compared them to sweet potatoes, he was put on trial for malicious slander and EXECUTED.
- From 1921 to 1936, Lichtenstein and Haiti had the same flag . . . without realizing it. They didn’t find out until the 1936 Olympics, and afterwards, Lichtenstein added a yellow crown.

GOOD NEWS
A guy named Jimmy Macdonald was kayaking last month in Lake George, New York when his kayak tipped over. He says he was clinging to the boat with one hand and his, quote, “new $1,400 cell phone” in the other, just trying to stay afloat.
He was afraid he was about to drown, so he prayed to God for help. And it came . . . in the form of a floating tiki bar filled with Catholic priests.
Yep, really.
A group of local priests had booked the tiki tour . . . not for boozing, obviously, just for sightseeing . . . and they were floating down the lake when they saw Jimmy.
He was so exhausted he couldn’t even swim to the boat, so they pulled him in . . . and even kept his cell phone from getting wet.

Drunk Driver Crashes into a Sign . . . That Says “Drive Sober or Get Pulled Over”
There’s a 22-year-old guy named Bounty Cheramy from North Port, Florida. And he was driving drunk on Sunday and talking on the phone with a friend when he SMASHED into a sign.
And that sign said . . . “Drive sober or get pulled over.”
The cops came to the scene and found their sign knocked over and destroyed, and Bounty nearby with a big dent in his Mazda.
He blew twice the legal limit on the Breathalyzer and he was arrested for DUI and for property damage.
FARMER FLIPPED COMBINE HARVESTER AFTER TAKING IT FOR ‘DRUNK JOY RIDE’
This seems like an expensive mistake. A farmer in North Dakota totaled his John Deere combine harvester after taking it for a drunk joyride on Monday (August 31st.) Berthold Police arrested Michael Carr, age 45, who is also accused of driving the farm machinery on a revoked license. Photos of the harvester show it upside down with a shattered windshield. Police haven’t revealed how it crashed.

FLYING LOW:
A “flying boat” has made its debut on Switzerland’s waves. The world’s first electric-powered hydrofoil speedboat, which reduces energy consumption by seemingly flying above the water, can hit speeds of 34 mph (55kph), and its Swedish manufacturer says it travels further and smoother than other electric boats.
Just 3 foils on the Candela Seven extend into the water, reducing water friction, and the effect of waves slamming into the boat, thereby cutting energy consumption by 80% compared to diesel-powered boats, and extending the craft’s range to 56 miles (90 km).
The boat also carries an on-board computer which automatically adjusts the foil positions 100 times per second to reduce rolling and sea-sickness.

- It took two overtimes, but the Toronto Raptors finally got a 125-122 win last night (September 9th) against the Boston Celtics to force a deciding Game 7 in their Conference Semifinals series. The reigning NBA champion Raptors and the Celtics are vying to take on the Miami Heat in the Eastern Conference Finals.

- The NFL season kicks off tonight (September 10th) with a game between the Super Bowl champion Kansas City Chiefs and the Houston Texans at Arrowhead Stadium in Kansas City. Since there were no preseason games this year because of the coronavirus pandemic, this will be the first NFL game since the Super Bowl in February. State and local authorities are allowing the Chiefs to have fans at the game, but it’s limited to 22 percent of capacity, which is about 17,000 fans. They’ll be required to face masks whenever they can’t maintain social distance.
The Atlanta Braves scored 29 runs in their 29-9 win over the Miami Marlins last night (September 9th), tying for second-most in a game in the modern era, and falling just one run short of the major league record. The record is held by the Texas Rangers, who scored 30 runs against the Baltimore Orioles in 2007. The other teams to score 29 runs in a game were the Chicago White Sox in 1955 and the Boston Red Sox in 1950.
- A FedEx worker in Boston likes to singopera in the lobby of this building while making deliveries. Someone working there shot video and posted it online.

Here’s a 1961 Coke commercial that would NOT play today. It shows a woman saying there’s “no waistline worry” with Coke because it’s “low in calories.” She says it’s “a natural, wholesome blending of pure food flavors” . . . and calls it “not too sweet.”
CARLY PEARCE OFFERS SOME ‘BIG SISTER’ ADVICE WITH NEW SINGLE
Carly Pearce has just released a new single called “Next Girl,” which she co-wrote from personal experience and as a friendly bit of advice for other single ladies so they can avoid being the “next girl.” She tells us: [“’Next Girl’ is a song that I think every girl has been on both sides of the story at least once in our life, but I bet quite a few times. And for me, I’ve been single the majority of my life, so I’ve encountered this guy a lot through my life and my girlfriends have encountered him. Girls at my show probably encounter him at my show, or after the show I see girls encounter him at the bar. And for me, it’s an anthem for girls, kind of like as their big sister, telling them, ‘This guy’s never gonna change. It’s the same story night after night, and to watch out for it.”]
So far, Carly hasn’t commented as to whether her ex-husband Michael Ray was the inspiration for the song.

OLD DOMINION CMA NOD
Reigning two-time CMA Vocal Group of the Year Old Dominion received their career fifth Vocal Group nomination at the CMA Awards when the nominees were announced last week. They also secured a nod for Album Of The Year for their self-titled third studio album, which was released last year.
While grateful for both nominations, Old Dominion’s Trevor Rosen tells us the Album nod is especially validating.[“I’d say since we became a band, since we started making albums, we always tried full albums. You know, it wasn’t just trying to write hit songs, we tried to make an album that was cohesive and also an album where there wasn’t a skip-able song on it. We took pride in that, so to finally be in that category, I feel like, is rewarding. It’s sort of the culmination of all the work that we’ve put into this for the last 10 years.”]
The CMA Awards will be held on Nov. 11th in Nashville.
Old Dominion is also nominated for Group of the Year and Single, Song and Video of the Year for “One Man Band” at the ACM Awards, which will be held on Sept. 16th in Nashville. They will also perform during the show, which will air live on CBS.

Brad Paisley filled in for Kimmel last night. He sang a few COVID 2020 joke versions of his famous songs.
He even had Carrie Underwood join him as a surprise guest singer for their duet “Remind Me”.
