➢ CK Medical Officer of Health Dr. David Colby says preparations are underway for Phase 2 of the provincially mandated reopening.
Dr. Colby has ordered the following services to remain closed:
Municipally operated pools………..Splash pads will remain closed until play structures are permitted to open…………Day camps
The municipality said unfortunately its licenced child care centres are not able to open on Friday. If businesses have any questions about establishing public health measures to operate safely they can call CK Public Health at 519-355-1071 ext: 1900.
➢ HBO Max caused the Internet to EXPLODE yesterday when it announced that it was removing “Gone with the Wind” because of racism and the glorification of the Civil War-era South. People were so freaked out, the movie sold out on Amazon.
HBO Max later said they’ll bring “Gone with the Wind” back, and will do so in its original form. But it’ll be accompanied by, quote, “a discussion of its historical context and a denouncement of [its].”
➢ Cool Ranch Doritos are coming back to Canada. When the pandemic struck, people not only loaded up on toilet paper, but Doritos stocks as well, leaving store aisles empty. To keep up with demand, the company had to stop making certain flavors to focus on the most popular ones. Doritos cut every flavor other than the most popular three — Nacho Cheese, Sweet Chilli Heat, and Zesty Cheese. Cool Ranch, the fourth most popular flavor, will return to store shelves across the country this month.
➢ Wild boars don’t care if your train is late. Railway service was interrupted in Scotland last Thursday evening when it was blocked by a wild boar on the tracks. ScotRail tweeted about the incident, writing, “There’s a pig (yes, you read that right) on the line at Wishaw.” It’s not clear if the boar was captured by officials or wandered off on its own, but railway service resumed later in the evening.
➢ A high school in South Carolina held its graduation ceremony outside on its football field yesterday. But someone forgot to turn the sprinklers off. (The whole ordeal lasted a few minutes but we edited it down for you.)

90% of Us Agree the World Needs More Joy . . . Here Are the Top Five Simple Ways to Find It
It’s been a little harder to find joy in things this year. And a new poll found 90% of us agree the world needs MORE of it. So where do you find joy? Here are the top five simple activities that bring us the most joy, according to the survey . . .
- Family dinners. 61% said it’s one of the things that brings them the most joy.
- Time spent outside, 60%.
- Watching a favorite movie or TV show, 58%.
- Receiving a hug from a close friend or loved one, also 58%.
- Hearing one of your favorite songs, 55%.
Here are a few more stats: 89% agree it’s important to surround yourself with positive people. More than half of us say that just talking to our friends brings us joy. And 85% think finding joy right now is more important than ever.
Now here are three joyous things we’ve done MORE of because of the lockdown: Reading . . . taking walks . . . and spending time with our immediate family. The survey also found over a third of us plan to keep doing Zoom calls with loved ones even after the pandemic is over.

GOOD NEWS
Dr. Kerry Anne Perkins and Michael Gordon were getting ready for their “first look” photos before their wedding on the lawn of the Logan Hotel in Philadelphia when they heard protest chants in the distance.
The two had initially planned to have a large wedding, but the coronavirus pandemic made it impossible, so they’d settled on a micro-ceremony, and had made peace with something a little more low-key. Within moments, a wave of Black Lives Matter protestors passed the couple’s venue on their way to Logan Park, where the crowd would be demonstrating against police brutality and white supremacy. And so, in another change of plans, the two decided to join the demonstration for their wedding ceremony
A hotel in England has stayed open during the pandemic to give homeless people a free place to stay. And they’ve been returning the favor by doing odd jobs like gardening, cleaning up, and helping them build a new patio.

Treasure Chest Worth $1 Million Has Been Found in the Rocky Mountains
Ten years ago, an art dealer and author named Forrest Fenn put at least $1 million worth of gold, jewelry, and other valuable items in a treasure chest and hid it somewhere in the Rocky Mountains.
And he included some vague clues on how to find it in his autobiography, called “The Thrill of the Chase”.
Thousands of people have tried to find it in the past decade . . . including at least two people who DIED trying and two others who had to be rescued from near-death situations.
Well . . . Fenn announced on Sunday, quote, “the search is over.”
He says someone from “back East” who didn’t want to be revealed used the clues from a 24-line poem in Fenn’s book to locate the treasure . . . and confirmed he’d found it with a photograph.
A British Columbia woman was overwhelmed with relief when her lost wallet was returned with its contents — more than $5,000 in cash — still intact.
River Johnson returned home from taking her elderly parents shopping at a local Walmart before she realized she no longer had the wallet, which contained $5,211. Johnson called the store, even though it was closed at the time, and was relieved when a an employee assured her, “Don’t you worry…it’s in our safe.” Johnson returned the following day and was told that a manager, Ralph Buisine, had found the wallet and stored it in the safe in the hopes of its owner returning to claim it.

BOUNTY HUNTER:
Washing your hands is an important way to stop the spread of germs. When it comes to drying your hands, a new study says you should select paper towels over air dryers whenever you can.
A research team from the University of Leeds looked at how effective paper towels and air hand dryers were at removing viruses still on a person’s hands.
They found that although both methods help cut the spread of viruses, paper towels are 10 times more effective than a dryer at keeping your hands from contaminating other surfaces.
The researchers point out that their findings are especially important because of the shift away from paper products in many public facilities. As health officials work to stop the spread of COVID-19, paper towels may be an answer.

- NASCAR announced yesterday (June 10th) that it is banning the Confederate flag at all of its races and venues, a striking decision as the flag has long been a common sight at the sport’s races. It said, “The presence of the Confederate flag at NASCAR events runs contrary to our commitment to providing a welcoming and inclusive environment for all fans, our competitors and our industry.”
The move came after Bubba Wallace, NASCAR’s only black driver, called for the Confederate flag to be banned. While many applauded the decision, there was also some backlash from fans, and Truck Series driver Ray Ciccarelli said on Facebook he would quit the sport. He wrote: “I could care less about the Confederate Flag but there are ppl that do and it doesn’t make them a racist.”
- Some videos have been making the rounds showing state troopers in Minneapolis slashing all four tires on numerous vehicles during the protests.
They owned up to it and said they did it “to stop behaviors such as vehicles driving dangerously and at high speeds in and around protesters and law enforcement.” They went on to say they couldn’t tow the vehicles since things were too congested. Here’s one of the guys that had all four tires slashed.
- Communities in Philadelphia couldn’t get groceries because stores were closed due to looting. So the owner of several ShopRite supermarkets teamed up with a charity
and distributed free groceries to people.

ELMER FUDD
Elmer Fudd will have to find another way to bag that wascally wabbit, Bugs Bunny. Why? Because in the updated Looney Tunes cartoons streaming on HBO Max, he isn’t allowed to have a rifle. In the new versions of the classic cartoons, Fudd will still be hunting, but will use a scythe.
That’s a modification in response to US gun violence. The cartoon will still will feature the use of dynamite, booby traps and the iconic anvils and bank safes dropped onto characters, but executive producer Peter Browngardt says: “We’re not doing guns.”
TRAVIS DENNING PREFERS TO HEAR OTHER PEOPLE SING HIS SONGS
Travis Denning has his first Number One hit this week with “After A Few.” The song is featured on his new EP, Beer’s Better Cold, which was released last month.
As a songwriter, Travis has written songs recorded by the likes of Jason Aldean, Justin Moore and Chase Rice. Surprisingly, Travis tells us EXCLUSIVELY that he gets more excited about hearing other people singing his songs on the radio. [“Hearing my voice on the radio is a whole different feeling. It’s a whole different beast. That side of it really is that kind of rewarding side from the hard work paying off, but then that gratitude and sense of rewarding from hearing a song I wrote recorded by somebody else, it strikes pretty deep with me, so they’re very different feelings, but I gotta say I think I still think hearing somebody sing my song is probably my favorite feeling.”]
Travis is spending some of his time fishing and last Wednesday caught a nine-pound fish.
CARLY PEARCE HIT KNOCKS AT TOP OF CHARTS
Carly Pearce had a Canadian #1 with her latest hit, “I Hope You’re Happy Now,” which features Lee Brice. She co-wrote the song with Luke Combs, among others, about an ex-boyfriend she spent years dating.
Carly says she certainly wasn’t trying to capitalize on his pain or exploit the relationship in any way. [“My first little thing out to social media, at the very end of it I say, ‘You know who you are, and truly I hope you’re happy now.’ And my mom called me immediately and she was like, ‘What are you doing?’ I was like, ‘Listen, people all go through things and I’m not trying to exploit this person but I’m also trying to write my story and write what has happened to me, and sometimes people become victims of our songs. But that’s the only way that I know how to tell a story.’”]
Carly made her 75th appearance at the Grand Ole Opry in Nashville on Saturday (June 6th) night where she and Lee performed “I Hope You’re Happy Now.”
THOMAS RHETT SAYS QUARANTINE HAS SPARKED CREATIVE JAG – (06/11/2020)
Thomas Rhett is taking advantage of his downtime during this global pandemic. The quarantine has allowed him to write tons of potential future hits. He tells us: [“During quarantine, I mean it’s been 60 something days, I’d probably say I’ve written 35 to 40 songs. I just feel like any kind of change in life can spark a new idea, and especially the same for your co-writers, because they’re going through the same stuff too So, there’s definitely no shortage of ideas during this time and I do feel very creative.”]
