On Today’s Show
➢ San Francisco recently overhauled the Golden Gate bridge to make it more aerodynamic, so it holds up against high winds better. But now it sometimes makes a high-pitched humming sound, which some people are not thrilled about. Apparently you can hear it from up to three miles away.
➢ Last Tuesday a woman in For Meyers, Florida heard pounding on her door at 6:45 a.m.
She discovered two alligators, each about seven feet in length, fighting outside her home.
She also saw one of the alligator’s snouts pinned to the glass window and door, and the other a distance away with its jaws open. She got scared when one alligator clamped its jaws on the body of the other and pinned it to a wall. She said about 20 minutes later the alligators left her front yard, she said they “made a mess on the front door.” An expert says the gators in the video taken by the homeowner are exhibiting a typical reaction to being in a somewhat confined space.
➢ Sometimes good deeds get rewarded. An Oregon woman who took up sewing face masks when she was laid off due to the COVID-19 pandemic recently used some of the earnings to buy a lotto ticket. Lorna Hewitt told Lottery officials she bought a Keno 8-spot ticket and won a total of $126,789. She says she plans to use some of her winnings to buy more mask-making supplies so she can continue to give back to the community.
➢ The “Avatar” sequels might be some of the first movies to resume production after the pandemic shut Hollywood down. New Zealand has approved new health and safety production protocols which allow production to start up again. The country has been praised for its handling of the COVID-19 pandemic, with only 1,497 reported cases and 21 deaths with a population of around 4.8 million. The four Avatar sequels, which are all being shot at the same time there, are budgeted at around $1 billion.
➢ Arnold Schwarzenegger suffered a wrist injury on the set of “Total Recall”, and it was so gnarly that he totally recalls it 30 years later.

Four Ways to Make the Most of a Staycation
If you’re doing a “staycation” this summer, don’t just spend it in front of the TV. Here are four tips to make the most of a staycation and not waste it . . .
- Separate yourself from work. Way too many of us still check in at work when we’re on vacation. But it’s especially important to take a mental break and recharge this year. So set up your out-of-office email, and try to truly unplug from work.
- Knock out any household chores ahead of time. Like laundry or cleaning up, so they won’t interfere with relaxation time. If you want to use your time to tackle a few projects, that’s fine. Just make sure you have time to unwind too.
- Plan something special you’ll look forward to. Like camping out in the backyard, or a do-it-yourself spa day. Whatever it is, just plan something you can get excited about.
- Take pictures. You should treat a staycation the same way you’d treat a normal vacation. Take pictures and post stuff on social media. One day, you might look back on this weird moment in history and wish you had more photos to document it.
FOUR RANDOM FACTS
- Dale Carnegie, the author of “How to Win Friends and Influence People”, was not connected to the famous Carnegie family. His last name was C-A-R-N-A-G-E-Y, but he changed the spelling to match the other Carnegies so people would think he WAS related.
- The star ratings on Netflix aren’t based on other people’s reviews . . . they’re based on how much Netflix thinks you’ll like a show or movie.
- “Goodbye” is actually a shortened version of the phrase “God be with you.”
- There’s a psychological theory called the “Blue-Seven Phenomenon” where the average person will say their favorite color is blue and their favorite number is seven . . . but no one’s exactly sure WHY those are both so popular.
GOOD NEWS
A local news station in Buffalo, New York did a story on an 18-year-old named Antonio Gwynn who spent about 10 hours cleaning up his community after the protests.
And he got rewarded for it when some guy offered him a CAR. Then another guy offered to pay for his insurance.
And a local college offered him a full scholarship.

PEOPLE AND GARBAGE
Last Friday, a guy in England saw a woman dump a bunch of trash on the side of the road. So he found out where she lived, brought it back to her, and left the bags in her driveway.
Elgin OPP are looking for suspects after a group of people attacked two women who told them to pick up their garbage at Port Burwell Provincial Park.
The women, both of whom are in their 20s, were walking along the boardwalk Saturday night when they asked a group of between six and eight men and one woman to pick up their trash.
The pair continued on, but when they walked back passed the group they were confronted by one of the men. The dispute turned physical with several members of the group attacking the women before taking off toward the parking area.
The women were treated for minor injuries.
Police are now searching for those involved in the assault and are asking anyone with information to call them at 1-888-310-1122 or Crime Stoppers at 1-800-222-8477 (TIPS).

GOING GREY IS CAUSED BY STRESS AND CAN REVERSE ITSELF, SCIENTISTS SAY
Going grey is kind of your own fault, say scientists.
Researchers plucked grey hairs from a group of volunteers and used a new imaging technique that can detect a pigment throughout a strand of hair. They were surprised to discover that some hairs were grey at the tip and colored at the base, when they’d expect the opposite to be the case. By using the growth rate of the hair, they were able to track back specifically to a time frame in the person’s recent history when their hair turned grey.
They found the grey patches coincided with periods of increased stress levels while areas of color were when the stress had been alleviated.
They say they cannot prove that the removal of stress caused the reversal of the grey’s process, but they believe it is a likely explanation. They hope the finding could help experts develop drugs that could prevent unwanted process.

Florida Georgia Line’s “I Love My Country” / Kane Brown’s “Short Skirt Weather”
Someone noticed that FLORIDA GEORGIA LINE’s “I Love My Country” sounds just like KANE BROWN’s “Short Skirt Weather”
A YouTuber who calls himself Sir Mashalot posted a comparison of the two songs and you can barely tell the difference. He plays a little bit of each one and then mashes them together and they match up perfectly.
“Short Skirt Weather” is from Kane’s 2018 album, “Experiment“ . . . while “I Love My Country” just came out in March.
WhiskeyRiff.com also looked into it . . . and they discovered that Kane and two of his co-writers were added to the list of songwriters for “I Love My Country”.

BILLY CURRINGTON CELEBRATES FIVE-YEAR ANNIVERSARY OF ‘SUMMER FOREVER’
Billy Currington released his latest studio album, Summer Forever, five years ago this month. The project has been certified gold and features the chart-topping hits “Don’t It,” “It Don’t Hurt Like It Used To,” and “Do I Make You Wanna.” To celebrate its anniversary, Billy has released a video highlighting the hit songs on the record.
At the time, Billy said he gave the project this particular title because it pretty well sums him up. [“I named the album Summer Forever partly because it’s my life – summer and sunshine, beach, ocean and all that – and I think some of the songs on the album reflect that, and it just felt like a great title. It’s the title of one of the songs on there, and when I was kinda going through the songs, one day it just hit me, like, ‘Man, that would be a perfect title for this album.’”]
There is no word yet on when Billy plans to release his next studio album.
