CK Mornings

John Krasinski hosted a virtual wedding on his latest “Some Good News” video . . . and he surprised everyone by bringing in his fellow “Office” cast members to recreate the dance sequence from Jim and Pam’s wedding.

The couple, Susan and John, got engaged after John proposed at a gas station . . . just like Jim did to Pam on “The Office”.  They’d invited Jim to their wedding, but instead, Jim brought the wedding to them.

Jim added their family to the Zoom meeting . . . announced he got ordained as a minister . . . had Zac Brown come on to sing . . . and married the couple himself.

➢ The man behind one of the biggest viral video catchphrases ever has passed away.  Paul “Bear” Vasquez . . . also known as the “Double Rainbow Guy” . . . passed away at age 57 in Mariposa, California on Saturday.

He became famous when he saw two rainbows in the sky in January of 2010 and took a video. And his astonished, genuine reaction made the video a viral sensation.

His cause of death hasn’t been released.  He recently posted on Facebook that he was going to get tested for coronavirus but found out about another health problem that he didn’t reveal.

➢ Conservation officials in Ontario are asking members of the public to keep an eye out for a former pet snake that was mistakenly released into the wild near a conservation area. The Upper Thames River Conservation Authority said the corn snake was found by a person who mistook it for a native species and released it into the rural area near the Pittock Conservation Area in Woodstock. Experts say corn snakes are not native to Canada, and the animal would be unlikely to survive a winter in the area. They say the snake is likely an escaped pet or an abandoned pet, and that they want to find it because it could potentially trigger an illness to native wildlife in the area that could be dangerous.

➢ Jerry Stiller originally passed on doing the show “Seinfeld”.  Here’s a clip of him telling the story.    (Jerry says that when he was first approached, he hadn’t heard of the series, and he was busy doing a Broadway show.  But they contacted him again, and he agreed to meet with them.  Plus he tells why he began yelling his lines with show wife, Estelle.)

Man in China Learns It Doesn’t Pay to Bury Cash

A Chinese man who buried hundreds of thousands of dollars five years ago is learning the hard way there may be better ways to store his life savings.

The bank notes were rotten and moldy and broke apart on contact, reports say. Wang told the bank he had “10 more bundles” at home, and that he had buried a total of about $280,000 in cash five years ago.

The Chinese man said his parents were merchants, and that they had accumulated the money. He also said a local TV program claimed theft was common at ATMs.

Bank employees worked overtime to restore the damaged bills. According to the People’s Bank of China’s regulations, bills that retain 75 percent of their original features can be exchanged at full value, but bills disfigured such that only 50 to 75 percent of the note is recognizable, can only be exchanged for half the amount. The man’s savings has lost about 25 percent of its total value, or $70,000 owing to damage, according to reports.

BURNED UP CASH….

A banker claims a man tried to exchange some cash after tossing his dough in a microwave in an attempt to kill the virus. In the 13-second second clip, the bank worker holds up what appears to be charred $5 and $50 bills. The CDC recommends that people use touchless payment. “

WATERFALL GONE

A large cascade of water that made up Ecuador’s tallest waterfall has disappeared after a sinkhole swallowed part of its water source.

According to NASA, the San Rafael stopped flowing on February 2 and has been replaced by three streams. All tourism to the site has been closed and it no longer appears on the country’s travel website.

With water dropping 490ft, the waterfall attracted tens of thousands of tourists per year, NASA said. A huge sinkhole is said to have appeared in the Coca River a few metres before the falls and diverted the watercourse.

This replaced the waterfall with three separate streams.Geologists are currently investigating the sinkhole.

Some think the deformation occurred naturally while other researchers believe it was tied to the construction of Ecuador’s largest hydroelectric plant.

SPENDING TIME IN THE GARDEN HEALTH BENEFITS

Go ahead and plant some flowers in your backyard—it’s good for you.

A study from the University of Exeter and the Royal Horticultural Society found 71 percent of people who used their backyard reported good general health, compared to 61 percent of those who did not use their yard.

This difference was similar to the well-being gap between the highest and lowest income groups. The study also showed those who spent time in their yard were significantly more likely to report greater physical activity levels and higher psychological well-being than those who did not.

The benefits held whether people spent their time gardening or just relaxing. Study co-author, Professor Alistair Griffiths, adds, “This work adds to the increasing body of scientific evidence on health benefits of gardens and gardening.”

THOMAS RHETT’S LATEST SINGLE WAS REACTION TO SOCIAL MEDIA NEGATIVITY

Thomas Rhett hast two big hits flying up the country charts these days — “Beer Can’t Fix” with Jon Pardi and “Be A Light,” which features Reba McEntire, Keith Urban, Hillary Scott from Lady Antebellum, and contemporary Christian singer Chris Tomlin. “Be A Light” was never intended to be a radio single, but rather just a message that needed to be heard by the world during this unsettling time.

Thomas tells us: [“I wrote this song last year.  I’d had this title written in my phone, ‘in a world full of hate the light,’ and I think it came a little bit from the Bible verse talking about ‘a lamp on a hill should not be hidden’ – just being a light in a dark place. And for some reason I just was looking at Instagram and Twitter and all this stuff, just seeing so much hatred and people commentin’ on people’s stuff, just being super negative, and it drove me nuts.  And I think at this point in time, I was like, man instead of like addressing the meanness and the negativity, why don’t we just address for people just to be kind.”]  Proceeds from the song benefits MusiCares COVID-19 relief fund.
