On Today’s Show
➢ As you saw from 90% of the posts on social media on Monday, it was “Star Wars” Day . . . “May the 4th be with you” and all that.
A restaurant in Lethbridge, Alberta decided to celebrate “Star Wars” Day, with one of their female employees dressed in a full Stormtrooper outfit to wander around on the street to try to drum up business. Well . . . she was holding a toy Stormtrooper blaster gun. And a few people saw that and CALLED THE COPS. Apparently they mistook it for a real gun, even though the woman was in full costume. The Police came, pulled real guns on her, pushed her to the ground, handcuffed her, and put her in a police car. It took about an hour before everything was sorted out and she was released without any charges. The owner of the restaurant says he’s been talking with the employee’s family about potentially taking action against the Police.
➢ An entire group of circus performers and work staff have been stuck in a north Texas parking lot for weeks because of the pandemic. Here’s Cirque MonteCarlo Circus Operations Manager, Cindi Cavallini. (Chefs, welders, aerialists, jugglers and yes, clowns, along with their 14 RVs, 12 semi-trailers, and seven semi-tractors, stuck living in a parking lot since mid- March.)
➢ By now, you’ve probably heard that MURDER HORNETS have made their way from Asia to Canada and the U.S. for the first time. Well, apparently if they don’t murder you, they can make for a delicious snack.
In Japan . . . where the murder hornets kill up to 50 people a year . . . people have been eating them for a while. They’re even considered a delicacy.
It turns out they’re pretty high in protein, and since they’re two inches long, they’re easy to pan fry and serve on a skewer. And more than 30 fancy restaurants have them on the menu.
A guy in New York who runs a company dedicated to edible insects says, quote, “People have compared it to a popcorn-y flavor without the butter.”
➢ “Twilight” author STEPHENIE MEYER announced that a new book in the series is coming out on August 4th.
It’s called “Midnight Sun“, and it’s a re-telling of the love story between Edward Cullen and Bella Swan, but from Edward’s perspective this time. That would be the ROBERT PATTISON character. The original story was told in four books, which came out between 2005 and 2008. They were made into five movies, which came out between 2008 and 2012.
➢ Hank Azaria tells Conan his favorite character to do on “The Simpsons”, and why it’s so much fun… It’s Professor Frink. (From “Conan” on Tuesday, May 5, 2020)

POLAR VORTEX
Environment Canada warns that a polar vortex is headed for much of Ontario and is expected to bring record cold temperatures to the province for at least the next week.
The vortex has been sitting over the North Pole for much of winter and has helped contain the Arctic air to keep conditions relatively mild across Canada.
Now, that vortex is starting to break down and a large chunk will fall onto eastern Canada.
Residents in some areas of eastern and southern Ontario can expect to see nighttime temperatures dip well below zero on Friday and Saturday, with cooler temperatures sticking around until the long weekend. Some areas may also see flurries and snow squalls.
Cheng said the seasonal daytime temperature for Ontario during this time of year is usually around 17 C with nighttime lows not going below 7 C.
Temperatures will gradually increase towards seasonal come the end of May, but there is a threat of winter precipitation until then.

GOOD NEWS
Doctors are finding that COVID-19 can actually trigger organ and heart failure in a very small number of seemingly healthy children. Which is what happened to 12-year-old Juliette in a New Orleans hospital where she was thought dead. Thankfully for the quick acting doctors they were able to revive her and she is alive and recovering today
A 15-year-old girl in Texas has collected 12,000 protective masks for hospital staffs.
An anonymous donor just gave a $1 million donation to Dignity Health Dominican Hospital in Santa Cruz, California with only one request: Divide the money up as bonuses to the staff.
So all the full-time employees like nurses, cleaning staff, lab techs, records keepers, and security guards will get an $800 check. Part-time workers will get $600.
A 7-year-old Baltimore boy, Nasir Striggs, has beaten COVID-19 while also battling Sickle Cell Anemia. He had pneumonia in both of his lungs, but after three blood transfusions, luckily he’s “doing much better”

Searches for “How to Cut a Mullet” Have Jumped 124% Since the Quarantine
I’m not sure if this is “Tiger King” influence, another sign of people going mildly crazy during the quarantine, or both.
Apparently, Google searches for “how to cut a mullet” have gone up 124% since we all started staying at home.
Searches for “how to cut men’s hair” are up 632% . . . so maybe a lot of guys are thinking, “Well, if I’m going to have my significant other cut my hair and it’s gonna turn out terrible no matter what, might as well go for a mullet.”
WORST (REAL) MOTHER’S DAY GIFTS EVER:
You still have a few days to come up with something better than these people did…
☞ A gift card from him, for him: My husband got me a gift card to his favorite restaurant, which is a steakhouse. I’m a vegetarian! His response: “They have salads.”
☞ A coupon book for free backrubs: Sounds great, right? My husband gives TERRIBLE backrubs.
☞ Food poisoning: Hubby and my kids made me breakfast in bed. We think it was the spinach they used. I was in agonizing pain, and stuck in the bathroom for hours at a time, so I just kept cursing them out to myself.
☞ Clay chocolates: I gave them to my mom. It was my craft teacher’s idea. She provided empty chocolate boxes to put them in. I’ve never seen my mom look more disappointed.
☞ Half-dead houseplant: My husband and kids got it on clearance at Home Depot. I pretended to love it, planted it with care in a nice ceramic pot, and watched it slowly die despite my efforts to keep it alive.

CORONAUPDATE:
Drive-in concerts could be the way live performances return to our lives in the coronavirus era, if the success of a recent event held in Denmark is anything to go by. Pop-rock artist Mads Langer staged a show in the city of Aarhus last week, with 500 tickets selling out in six days. Aarhus played live, facing a lot where drivers observed social-distancing rules and listened to the music on their FM radios. His performance was also projected onto large video screens.

LUKE COMBS STILL PLANNING WEDDING FOR THIS YEAR DESPITE COVID-19
Luke Combs and his fiancee, Nicole Hocking, are full steam ahead with their wedding which is scheduled for sometime this year. Despite the pandemic, Luke recently told ET Canada, “Things are still on track as of right now. That’s all I know as far as that stuff goes, we’re still planning on doing it, we’re still picking out napkins and stuff like that, so all that stuff is all systems go as of right now.”
Luke has been very much involved in the wedding planning process since the couple got engaged, which he tells us is important to him. [“We have a great planner which obviously helps a lot, but I’m super involved in the decision making of that, too. I’ve always wanted to be involved in that process because I want to show her that I care about it. I’m not the ‘yes, dear’ guy. I think if she wanted me to be that person then I could be for her but she doesn’t want me to be that person, and I don’t want to be that person either.”]
Luke and Nicole have not shared their wedding date.

Justin Moore’s Best Friend Is . . . His Mom?
JUSTIN MOORE’s best friend might be getting some flowers from him on Sunday. And candy too. Why? Because it’ll be Mother’s Day. Shall we have him explain?
QUOTE, “My mom is honestly one of my best friends. And I’m close to my dad, too, and obviously have a great relationship with him. But my mom and I, we’re closer from a friend type perspective.”
He adds, quote, “I don’t know if that’s the mama’s boy kind of thing. Probably. But the fact that she’s always been and always will be completely honest with me, whether it’s good bad or indifferent, is something that I’ve always appreciated.”
One more thing: Justin posted audio of himself doing an acoustic version of Bob Seger’s “Night Moves” . . . and I’m impressed. I mean, it’s one of the greatest rock songs ever, and he went at it totally unplugged.
