Police in Crowley, Louisiana decided to enforce their curfew by using the same siren sound used in the movie, “The Purge.” The chief of police said he thought it would be less jarring than a normal siren.

Some people are bored while self-isolating, and others are creating content to amuse them. Elias Aragaw is in the latter category, and was bored after Texas officials announced a strict shelter-in-place guideline for Dallas County residents. The 31-year-old decided to stage a fashion show featuring quarantine-inspired outfits on Twitter. He posted his video and it quickly went viral. It features him wearing various casual outfits with a funny voiceover describing each outfit and its intended uses.

Well, in a video message on Saturday, Jeff said, quote, “Netflix is adding one more episode. It will be on next week. They’re filming here tomorrow. Take care, stay safe, and put your mask on.” There’s been no word yet from Netflix.
Just two weeks after giving $1 million to Feeding America and Food Banks Canada, Blake Lively and Ryan Reynolds have donated $400,000 to New York hospitals.
That breaks down to $100,000 for the four hardest hit hospitals:
European soccer star Lionel Messi is saying he and the rest of Barcelona’s players are happy to take a 70% hit on their salaries . . . and they want to help make sure that the non-sporting staff’s earnings won’t be reduced during Spain’s state of emergency.
Messi can afford it. He reportedly made $127 million last year alone.

A tree-trimmer in Ohio couldn’t see his mom, because she was quarantined on the third floor of her nursing home. So he used a bucket truck to lift himself up, and they hung out through her window.
A guy who owns a bunch of restaurants in Indiana did a fundraiser where he cut and dyed his hair and got the “Tiger King” haircut. He’s using the money to pay his staff.
St. Jude’s released a free Covid 19 colouring book you can print out to help your kids practice good hygiene. And to help them process everything that’s been happening.
A guy in Detroit stood outside a gas station and paid for $900 IN GAS FOR NURSES. Then a random woman who heard about it showed up and pitched in another $200.
Google says more of us are searching for ways to HELP people than ever before. The number of searches for things like “how to volunteer” . . . “how to help the community” . . . and “how to help the elderly” are much higher than normal.
A landlord in Brooklyn says he’s not charging rent next month for all TWO HUNDRED TENANTS who live in his buildings. He says he just wants them to focus on their loved ones, and on staying healthy.
(Also, a pizza place in New York has been making 400 pizzas a day for healthcare workers.
So, their landlord froze their rent for three months, and gave them $20,000.)

GOOD NEWS
OPERATION BBQ RELIEF is doing its part on the front lines feeding the hungry.
The Kansas City area charity usually mobilizes with hot meals after natural disasters; these days it is feeding COVID-19 first responders and the local homeless as well as employing restaurant workers suddenly left jobless.
Stan Hays, co-founder and CEO for Operation BBQ Relief, says: “We are doing what we can in our home community to feed people in need of a good comforting hot meal. We want to ensure during this difficult time that they are not forgotten and people know they care about them.” Amid quarantine and social distancing, Operation BBQ Relief still has help distributing the meals. The number of meals varies from day to day.
Hays said: “We are serving approximately 1,300 meals a day in the city to the homeless, first responders, medical workers and those families struggling during this difficult time.”
He added: “Through today we have served approximately 9,500 meals in the last week.”
Operation BBQ Relief also just launched a new program called the Restaurant Relief Plan.
Hays said: “The Restaurant Relief Plan is a way to help restaurants that have closed or are closing to stay open with financial assistance, rehire or retain employees and pay them and produce 2,500 free meals a day for the community”
“We can’t do it all by ourselves,” Hays said. “This is one of those things we can do so much more together than we can divided.”

With so many people isolating themselves at home these days, what are they doing with their time? For many, the answer to that question is either working from home or binge-watching TV or movies. The problem? Both require internet usage. With that in mind, Netflix and YouTube have agreed to reduce streaming quality (to lower bandwidth usage) in Europe for at least the next month to prevent the internet collapsing under the strain of unprecedented usage due to the coronavirus pandemic. Netflix expects that some customers will see a reduction in picture quality, although many will not.

If you feel like you’ve spent so much time on your couch over the past few weeks that it’s going to wear out . . . don’t worry, it can handle it. People hold onto couches for an average of 12 years. And a new survey calculated just what the average couch experiences during that time. Check it out . . .
- 7,482 hours of TV, or roughly 12 hours a week.
- 6,960 spills, or about 11 a week.
- 5,248 hours on social media, or about eight-and-a-half hours a week.
- 4,293 hours of sleeping or napping, or about seven hours a week.
- And the remote getting lost 900 times, or once or twice a week.

Should You Wear Contacts and Glasses During the Outbreak?
Here’s something you might have thought about if you wear contact lenses. Is it safer to wear contacts or glasses during the outbreak?
The short answer is there’s no real proof that glasses offer any TRUE protection from it. We’re still not even sure if the virus can ENTER through your eyes. The jury’s still out.
But here’s why you might want to opt for glasses anyway. Experts say it discourages you from TOUCHING YOUR FACE.
A spokesman for the American Academy of Ophthalmology talked about it in an interview. And apparently we touch our face a lot less when we’re wearing glasses than when we’re not.
Yes, you touch your glasses too when you take them on and off, or adjust them. So it’s not foolproof. But overall, he says there’s less eye-rubbing, face-scratching, and face-touching when you have glasses on.
Again though, the most important thing to do right now is wash your hands as much as possible. So whether you opt for glasses or contacts, just don’t get lazy.

- On Saturday night, COVID-19 took the life of former New Orleans Saints kicker Tom Dempsey. He was 73. Dempsey was born with no toes on his kicking foot and was most famous for making a game winning, record-setting 63-yard field goal in 1970. Here’s that kick.
- A company did a video showing the importance of social distancing. They showed a map of a Ft. Lauderdale beach that was being used by spring breakers. The company was able to zero-in on the data of mobile devices used on that beach during that time. And then they tracked those devices as they left and spread out to half of the country, mostly in the Midwest and east coast. A few devices even made it to the west coast. (To calm your message for some listeners, remind them that would be if all of those on the beach were infected, which most likely would not be the case. But it’s interesting to see a factual spread of a large group of partiers.)

No winning ticket was sold for the $70 million jackpot in Friday night’s Lotto Max draw.
However, five of the 19 Maxmillions prizes of $1 million each were won by ticket holders in the Prairies and in Newfoundland and Labrador.
The jackpot for the next Lotto Max draw TOMORROW will again be $70 million and there will be 20 Maxmillions prizes up for grabs.
No winning ticket was sold for the $10-million jackpot in Saturday night’s Lotto 649 draw.
However, the guaranteed $1-million prize went to a lottery player in Ontario.
The jackpot for the next Lotto 649 draw WEDNESDAY will be approximately $12 million.

“ACM Presents: Our Country”
Last night’s “ACM Presents: Our Country” was exactly what we expected. One artist after another performing unplugged, and usually alone. It was fascinating to hear how they sounded without a lot of production. It was also cool to see the wide variety of couches, chairs, basements, porches, truck beds, you name it . . . at their various houses, ranches, home studios, and in SHANIA TWAIN’s case, her barn, where she serenaded her horse and dog.
KEITH URBAN started it off by thanking the first responders and health care workers, and then he performed “Wasted Time”. LADY ANTEBELLUM were in separate houses and letting their kids distract them while they did “What I’m Leaving For” .
CARRIE UNDERWOOD sat alone on her couch, slipped a glass of wine, and sang a pitch perfect version of “Drinking Alone”.
One great pairing featured BRAD PAISLEY doing “Mud On The Tires” and then he connected by computer to DARIUS RUCKER who did “Wagon Wheel”.
MIRANDA LAMBERT kept it real in a flannel shirt while sitting on her porch playing “Bluebird”. DIERKS BENTLEY performed “I Hold On” on his deck in Telluride.
The show ended with a terrific Kenny Rogers tribute. Brad and Darius sang “Lucille” and “The Gambler”, and LUKE BRYAN did “Coward of the Country”.
And then Lionel Richie gave a heartfelt speech about Kenny before introducing their performance of “Lady” from the 2012 special “ACM Presents: Lionel Richie and Friends – In Concert”.

MIRANDA LAMBERT RESCHEDULES FINAL U.S. DATES, CANADIAN RUN
Miranda Lambert has announced the rescheduled dates for the two remaining US shows and the upcoming Canadian run of her Wildcard Tour. The Canadian leg now launches on October 11th in Vancouver. The tickets purchased for the original shows will still be valid for the new dates.
Special guests on the Wildcard Tour include Cody Johnson and LANCO.

SAM HUNT TURNS TO YOUTUBE, NATURE DURING QUARANTINE
Sam Hunt has been under a self-imposed quarantine and he’s passing the time pretty much the same way we are. [“A lot of like YouTube, Netflix. A lot of YouTube. (I’ve been) watching some documentaries and different TV series that are out. I get out and walk around with the dogs and ride the four wheeler around the little bit of property that we got.”]
Sam’s album has already produced a Number One hit with “Kinfolks.” He’s climbing the charts with “Hard To Forget,” which samples the Webb Pierce 1953 hit, “There Stands the Glass.”
