CK Mornings

Parents will be able to send their children to school Monday as a tentative deal has been reached between the province and education support workers.

The Canadian Union of Public Employees (CUPE) was involved in contract talks with the province throughout the weekend in an attempt to reach a deal and avoid a strike.

The deal was reached Sunday, allowing schools across the province to remain open and have classes resume as normal on Monday.

A family from Philadelphia took a road trip to a water park in New Jersey recently.

But when they got there, it was closed for the season . . . just like Wally World in “National Lampoon’s Vacation.”

Luckily they didn’t drive the whole way across the country though.  It turned out to be the park’s fault.  They’d closed a week earlier, but still had promotions running on social media.  So that’s how the family was able to buy tickets.

“SNL” alums Martin Short and Maya Rudolph were guests on David Spade’s show.  If you haven’t seen it, they let the guests make comments during David’s monologue.  Martin Short took full advantage by busting on him, the way he usually does on other celebs.  It was pretty funny.

GOOD NEWS

There’s an eight-year-old near Knoxville named Daniel Hunt who lost ALL his stuff in a fire last month.  But his friends in third grade came up big for him.

After it happened, they were all extra nice . . . held doors for him . . . and hung out with him at recess to take his mind off it.

And the whole time, they somehow managed to keep THIS a secret.

After the fire, they started planning a toy drive with their teacher.  Then on Friday, they surprised him with a MOUNTAIN of new toys to replace the ones he lost.

When he walked into class, they yelled “surprise.”  And their desks were covered with board games, LEGOS, stuffed animals, a remote-control car, and dozens of other toys.

There’s a video of it.  And at first, it looks like he doesn’t realize they’re all for him.  Then his teacher says they’re HIS toys . . . and he asks the whole class for a group hug.

His teacher says it’s a great example of what a big heart he has.  Most kids would have just ripped into the toys.  But he wanted a hug first.

College Kid Figured Out How to Scam Scammers Into Giving You Money

A 22-year-old college kid in Ireland says he figured out a way to get scammers to give HIM money.  And he’s pulled it off three separate times.

Earlier this month, he got an email from someone claiming to be a “big business banker,” who was looking for an investment of about $1,200.  So here’s what he did . . .

First, he acted VERY interested . . . said he wanted to invest MORE than that . . . and asked if he could send them $60,000.

Second, he emailed them a fake PayPal invoice that made it LOOK like he tried to transfer them the money.

Then when the scammer didn’t receive the funds, he claimed his bank put a hold on the transfer, because they thought it was a scam.  And he told the scammer THEY needed to transfer a small amount of money to him first, so the bank would know it was legit.

They ended up sending him about $30.  Then he donated their money to a cancer charity, and sent them an invoice letting them know THEY’D been scammed.

SECRET TO HAPPINESS……

The secret to happiness? Water. Drinking water.

A new study of 2,000 Americans found that you’re three times more likely to feel “very happy” if you feel you drink enough water.

The results showed that 67 percent of people who said that they drank “more than enough” water thought of themselves as “very happy,” while only 21 percent of those who said they “didn’t drink enough water” said they’re “very happy.”

Interestingly, while the “recommended amount” of water per day is eight 8-ounce glasses, the study found that those who drank 10-plus glasses per day were statistically the most likely to be “very happy”, with 80 per cent saying so.

With their National League Divisional Series tied at a game a piece, the St. Louis Cardinals led one to nothing from the second inning, until the ninth, when the Atlanta Braves made their last-ditch effort.  With two outs and a man on second and third, Adam Duvall blooped a hit to center field, bringing in both runners.  Here’s that play that ended up winning the game for the Braves.

LADY ANTEBELLUM TOOK ‘INTENTIONAL’ TIME WITH NEW ALBUM

Lady Antebellum took their sweet time in writing and looking for the songs on their upcoming album, Ocean. They had three years in between project, and as Charles Kelley tells us, their mission was to slow things down this time around. [“I think in the past, especially with the Heart Break record, we didn’t have much time before to write. So, it was very intentional — getting out of town and being able to write. With this though, we wrote a lot together, we wrote a lot separately, too, to see if something would come out. And there was definitely some honest songs that almost feel like I was able to come out with and you were able to come out with that, I think if it was all three of us, maybe we wouldn’t have come up with it that way.  And we just mixed up the process a lot.”]

Ocean will be released on November 15th.

TRISHA YEARWOOD – PIZZA

PEOPLE asked Trisha Yearwood what her game plan is when she wants to romance her husband, Garth Brooks.  She said all it takes is pizza, because “That’s the most romantic food.”

Eric Church Agreed to Sponsor a Girl’s Jog-A-Thon, After Reading Her Sign

ERIC CHURCH made one young girl the most popular kid at school last week.  10-year-old Makenna Wallace was at his recent show in San Francisco holding up a sign . . . asking him to sponsor her at the school’s jog-a-thon.

He had someone bring it up to the stage so he could read it out loud.  And then he pointed to her and said, “I will sponsor you for your jog-a-thon.  I like your shades, by the way.”  She was wearing aviator sunglasses, just like Eric does.

And later in the show he gave her a hug while performing her favorite song, “Springsteen”.

Wait, it gets even better.  After the information was exchanged Eric’s people sent an email to the school saying he and his wife would be sending a check for $10,000.  That was way more than the $735 she raised.

As expected, CARLY PEARCE and MICHAEL RAY got married over the weekend.  It was held at a Nashville-area farm and about 100 guests attended.  As far as celebrities, LINDSAY ELL was there, and JAKE OWEN performed his song “Made for You” for the couple’s first dance.  Michael is 31 and Carly is 29.

The honeymoon is being put on hold until December because of touring schedules and the CMAs where Carly has a New Artist of the Year nomination.
