Experts in Alabama and Georgia are warning people about yellow jackets that are building “super nests” this summer.  They can be the size of a Volkswagen Beetle and hold up to 15,000 yellow jackets . . . the ones that can sting you multiple times.  One nest held half a million.

An appeals court says a piano teacher in Washington state deserved the $40,000 she was awarded in a dispute with a neighbour who revved his pickup truck engine for months to drown out the sound of her lessons.

The Yakima Herald-Republic reports the appeals court ruled Tuesday that Junghee Kim Spicer’s Yakima Arts Academy was entitled to the payment from her neighbour.

The inharmonious relationship started in 2012, court records say, when Spicer increased the number of piano lessons she gave.

From November 2015 through March 2016, Paul Patnode parked his diesel truck next to Spicer’s home, and remotely raced the engine and set off the vehicle’s alarm when students arrived.

Spicer sued Patnode and Yakima County Superior Court Judge Gayle Harthcock ordered Patnode to pay $40,000 for emotional distress.

Channing Tatum Thinks His Phone Is Listening to Him, and He Wants Answers

CHANNING TATUM posted a video yesterday, ranting about how he thinks his phone is spying on him.  Here’s the backstory in a nutshell:

He recently downloaded an astrology app called The Pattern . . . then, after a therapy session, he got a notification from the app using, quote, “the exact words that we were using in therapy.”

He said, quote, “Is the phone listening?  Are you listening through the phone, Pattern? . . . Are you listening through my phone and then just regurgitating the stuff that I’m afraid of?”

Channing’s video went viral, to the point that people crashed The Pattern’s servers.  So they responded.

They said, quote, “Hey @channingtatum!  Thanks for letting us know you planned on crashing our servers today . . . We’ll be sliding into your dms shortly.”

RANDOM REPORT

  1. There have been two NFL games in history where a team finished with negative yardage offensively . . . meaning they lost more yards in the game than they gained.

Seattle did it against the L.A. Rams in 1979, with minus-seven yards, and Denver did it against Oakland in 1967, with minus-five.

TODAY’S GOOD NEWS

A teenager named Logan Simmons was working the drive-thru at a Chick-fil-A in Georgia last Wednesday.

And a woman in the drive-thru lane started yelling for help, because her six-year-old son was CHOKING.

He wasn’t choking on food.  It turned out his SEATBELT was strangling him.  So it sounds like it either locked up, or got wrapped around his neck somehow.

But luckily Logan knew what to do, and happened to have a POCKETKNIFE with him.

There’s security footage of him jumping through the drive-thru window.  Then he ran to the car . . . cut the seatbelt . . . and saved the kid’s life.

Logan’s mom says she’s amazed at how he didn’t panic.  And he acted like it was no big deal.  He didn’t even tell her about it until two hours after he got home that day.

This part is kind of refreshing though, because you never hear it:  When the local news asked Logan if he feels like a hero . . . he said YES, he does.

Why ‘Glass Half-Full’ People Live More Fulfilling Lives

Everyone knows seeing a glass as half-full is associated with having an optimistic worldview, but does it hold up to the test? A new study of 2,000 Americans found that people who view a glass as half-full not only think more optimistically, but it may line up with even more personality traits including decisiveness, playfulness, and creativity.

When viewing an image of a glass containing an equal amount of liquid and empty space, 58 percent of Americans felt that the glass was half-full, while 16 percent felt that it was half-empty (the remaining respondents were indecisive).

The new survey found that glass half-full thinkers, while being more optimistic, also tended to be more patient, more creative, more competitive, more adaptable and more playful than glass half-empty thinkers.

On the other hand, glass half-empty thinkers tended to be more laid-back, more introverted, more serious and prouder than their half-full counterparts. Oddly enough, glass half-empty thinkers don’t always self-identify as pessimists. In fact, nearly half (48 percent) of glass half-empty types believe they’re more optimistic than pessimistic.

SIRI-OUSLY?
It turns out that we’re using our smartphones all wrong.

Jony Ive, the chief design officer at Apple, said this month that on average, we are using them WAY more than Steve Jobs envisioned when he introduced the iPhone in 2007. He says that to Jobs, the smartphone was “an iPod that made phone calls” and he wasn’t nearly as focused on apps as many designers and consumers are today.

While that might sound weird coming from a guy who has a financial incentive in people having their faces buried in his product, Ives says that there is the chance of “misuse” of any tool. Studies show that the average person spends 3.3 hours per day on their phone, checking it every 10 minutes.

Reducing time spent immersed in our devices can positively impact our sleep, creativity and overall happiness.

ERIC CHURCH SAYS KEITH URBAN HIT FOUND THE RIGHT ‘PATH’

As a songwriter, Eric Church couldn’t be more proud that Keith Urban chose his song, “We Were,” to record for his upcoming project. Eric tells us that the song found the home it was intended to have. [“I truly believe songs find the path that they’re supposed to find, and that one was supposed to be with him. Now, as it goes No. 1 in a few weeks, um (laughs) I’m gonna rethink that a little. Naw, it was perfect that he’s the guy that did that and did it better than I could’ve done it. I love hearing it on the radio. It’s fun for me. I came to this town to be a songwriter, so for me, I’m not sure if that’s not as proud as I’ve been as when you get a song cut by somebody else and then it becomes a hit.”]

“We Were” is the debut release from Keith’s next studio album.

JASON ALDEAN’S EASY COMMUTE TO WORK – (06/05/2019)

Jason Aldean is pretty much done with his next studio album and is putting on his producer hat when it comes to Tyler Farr‘s next project. Needless to say, he’s been spending quite a bit of time in the studio these days, but the commute to work couldn’t be better. [“The cool thing was is — I didn’t know this — but we sold our house earlier in the year and moved to like a rental house for the next year and so when it came time to cut my vocals, the guy that I’m in the studio with that I cut my vocals with lives across the street from me and has a studio in his basement, so everyday I just walk across the street, go cut some songs, walk back over to the house. It actually worked out perfect, and even with Tyler, like we’re cutting over there so I can kind of be right there at the house and kind of pop in and out for stuff so it worked out pretty well.”]

Jason is currently beachside on vacation with his family.
