A couple in Oregon recently won $1,200 on a lotto ticket.  Then the husband left it behind at the store, and it got thrown away.  So the manager sifted through the dumpster and found it for them.  They didn’t ask her to do it, and never expected to get the ticket back.

The winning numbers for the pick-four lottery drawing in North Carolina on Saturday were

“0-0-0-0.”  And over 2,000 people won.  They each got between $2,500 and $5,000, depending on how much they paid for their ticket.  The total combined payout is $7.8 million . . . the largest in the game’s history.  The previous record was $7.5 million in 2012, when the winning numbers were “1-1-1-1.”  ______________________________________________________________________________

YOU CAN’T MAKE THIS UP ………..
➢ Last month, a Connecticut fugitive struck a deal with police, promising that he would turn himself in if his wanted poster got more than 15,000 likes on Facebook. It took a bit longer than expected, but the man has made good on his pledge. Jose Simms was wanted for seven counts of failure to appear in court, but when police shared his wanted poster on their Facebook page, he actually commented on it, writing that he would turn himself in if the post got 20,000 likes. He and police eventually agreed on 15,000, which was reached in a matter of days, but he still didn’t turn himself in. But on Wednesday, a month after striking the deal, he called the called the Enfield Police Department to come pick him up.

➢ A political press conference turned whimsical on social media when someone accidentally turned on the “cat filter” on the Facebook Live feed, turning Pakistani regional minister Shaukat Yousafzai and his colleagues into adorable kittens. He and his party had intended to discuss important decisions of the cabinet in Peshawar, but their live-streamed official address abruptly turned into a joke after the social media team handling the broadcast accidentally turned on the cat filter on, giving the stone-faced politicians digital cat ears, whiskers, and rosy cheeks.

Instagram Says It’s “Dumb Luck” That You’re Seeing Suspicious Ads They’re Not Spying

Have you ever been flipping through Instagram . . . and an advertisement pops up for something you’re interested in, but you KNOW you’ve never Googled it, visited its website, or clicked on another ad for it?

Well, GAYLE KING has . . . and on “CBS This Morning” today she grilled Instagram boss Adam Mosseri to figure out how it happens. Naturally, he didn’t have a satisfying response.  He insisted that the app is NOT spying on you, and basically chalked it up to a COINCIDENCE.

Mosseri said, quote, “There’s two ways that can happen:  One is dumb luck, which can happen.  The second is you might be talking about something because it’s top of mind, because you’ve been interacting with that type of content more recently.

“Maybe you’re really into food and restaurants . . . you saw a restaurant on Facebook or Instagram . . . you liked the thing . . . it’s top of mind . . . maybe that’s subconscious.  And then it bubbles up later.  I think this kind of happens often.”

Working Only One Day a Week Is Good for Your Mental Health

You’re not going to believe this, but if you had a SIX-DAY WEEKEND, your life would be pretty sweet.

A new study out of England found that working just one day a week is best for your mental health.

If you work any more than that, you’re not getting any extra mental health benefits.  But if you work LESS than that . . . in other words, if you’re unemployed . . . you ARE missing out on the mental health benefits you get from a job, like feeling productive.

The researchers say, quote, “The traditional model, in which everyone works around 40 hours a week, was never based on how much work was good for people.”  Well you don’t say!

But even if one day of work is the best for us . . . it’s not what we really want.

A survey asked people how many days a week they’d want to work if money wasn’t an issue and they liked their job . . . and only 2% said one day a week.  That’s the same amount of people who said six days or seven days.

28% said three days a week . . . 21% said four days . . . 11% said five days . . . and 14% said NO DAYS.  The rest of people weren’t sure.

SCOTTY McCREERY AND JIMMIE ALLEN GO ALL THE WAY BACK TO AMERICAN IDOL – (06/20/2019)

Did you know that Scotty McCreery‘s relationship with Jimmie Allen goes all the way back to 2010 when the two met during Season 10 of American Idol? The two forged a friendship when they were both chosen out of thousands to continue on the reality show competition. Scotty tells us: [“He was in the Top 40 with me, like the green mile days of Idol. He was in Vegas when we were Top 60 so he went through all that stuff with us. There was like 115,000 folks that auditioned that year, so I mean we were right there, but I really think everybody’s got their thing on if they make it. He didn’t need that show. He was a guy that was gonna get there and he was gonna make it happen, and I’d see him in Nashville and he was always just meeting folks and getting his music out there and doing it the right way and I was always rooting for him. I knew it’d happen for him eventually cause he’s just one of those talented guys, nice guys and everybody’s rooting for him.”]

FAST FACTS

Scotty tapped Jimmie for his 2018 Season Change tour.

Thomas Rhett Wants to Have a “Gigantic” Family

THOMAS RHETT is ready to grow that family of his.  He and his wife Lauren currently have two kids.

Ada James will be two in August, and their adopted daughter Willa Gray is three.  That’s like a starter kit to him.

He says, quote, “If we stopped having kids now, I know I’d wake up at 45 and go, ‘We should have had five more.’  Because I really do want to be able to sit at a Thanksgiving or Christmas table with the most gigantic family on the planet.”

People like to tell him how difficult it is to have a large family, but that’s not going to stop him.  Quote, “Going from two to three, and maybe four and five, like I’m just gonna embrace it and know that we can accomplish anything.”

Fortunately he’s doing well enough that he can bring all the kids on tour, even though it complicates thing.  Quote, “It’s very stressful to travel with your kids and know that you’re waking up at six and you’re also playing a show at night.”
