CK Mornings

A woman in New Brunswick wanted to get a jump on Halloween and bought a skeleton at a yard sale for two dollars this week, then left it in the passenger’s seat of her car while she went shopping.  And it was realistic enough that someone called the cops.

A woman named Tiffani Adams was on an Air Canada flight back to her home in Toronto earlier this month after she’d been visiting a friend in Quebec.  It was a short flight, she had an entire row to herself, and she fell asleep.

Well . . . she woke up a few hours later and the plane was pitch black, cold, and parked.  Somehow the crew had just FORGOTTEN her on the flight.

Her phone was dead so she couldn’t call for help.  She wound up finding a flashlight in the cockpit, prying the plane’s door open, and using the flashlight to signal for help . . . since it was a 50-foot drop to the ground. Luckily for her, a crew member was driving around and saw her.  She says she’s been having insomnia ever since and Air Canada has called her repeatedly to talk to her about what happened.

Air Canada confirmed that all of this happened . . . they say they’re investigating.

ENTERTAINMENT

“Toy Story 4” won the box office this weekend, with a huge $118 million take . . . and yet, it was somehow STILL a bit of a disappointment.  Heading into the weekend, it seemed headed for a $140- to $150 million opening.

And while it had the biggest opening of a “Toy Story” movie on the surface . . . if you adjust for inflation, it fell below what “Toy Story 3” made nine years ago.

  1. NEW:  “Child’s Play”, $14.1 million
  2. “Aladdin”, $12.2 million.  Up to $287.5 million in its 5th week.

Someone Tried to Steal Halle Berry’s Entire House

A 59-year-old guy named Ronald Eugene Griffin tried to steal HALLE BERRY’s house . . . not rob it, take the WHOLE THING!

Griffin first showed up at Halle’s house in L.A. back in January.  He was messing around with the locks, but was chased off by the gardener.

In March, he came back, and he brought a LOCKSMITH with him.  Halle’s employees caught them trying to get in . . . with Griffin arguing that HE was the new owner of the house and he had the deed to prove it.

Halle’s team called 911, but so did Griffin.  He’d already had one of the locks changed, and he told the cops that HER people were trespassing on HIS property.

When the cops got there, they looked at Griffin’s deed, and discovered that he’d FAKED it.  He was arrested and hit with a felony count of ‘procuring and offering a false warranty deed’ and an additional count of petty theft.

Halle didn’t know who Griffin was, and supposedly, he DIDN’T know it was her house.  This isn’t the first time Halle’s had major issues with intruders.  In 2011, she came home, walked in the kitchen and told cops, “As I opened my glass kitchen door and closed it behind me, all of a sudden I sensed someone behind me . . .”[I] turned to see the intruder standing less than a foot behind me, staring through my glass kitchen door.”  Yikes.  That guy was also arrested.

It’s unclear if she was at home during the times when Griffin was caught on her property . . . but as far as we know, they never actually came face-to-face.

RANDOM REPORT

  1. Tennis balls were originally white, but they officially switched to yellowish-green in 1972 so they’d show up better on TV.  Wimbledon kept on using white balls until 1986.

  1. Target has its own forensic labs in Las Vegas and Minneapolis, where criminal justice experts and forensic scientists solve crimes that happened at Target.  They also help out real law enforcement agencies when they need extra manpower or facilities.

  1. Remember in the ’90s when there were all those phone numbers you could call for cheaper long distance, like “10-10-321” and “10-10-220”?  They still exist . . . but the rates are much higher than they used to be.

  1. When you get a kidney transplant, in most cases, your old kidneys aren’t removed . . . they just stay in your body.

TODAY’S GOOD NEWS

Allyn Pierce is an intensive care unit nurse in Paradise, California.  And last year, he risked his life to save his patients from the Camp Fire, which was the deadliest wildfire in state history.

He used his Toyota Tundra to shuttle patients to safety when the fire spread and got too close to the hospital.  He went back and forth multiple times.  And the flames got so close, his doors were charred and his tail lights melted.

But he doesn’t have to worry about replacing it.  Because Toyota heard about the story, and decided to replace it with a brand NEW Toyota Tundra.

They made a few modifications first:  Added a heavy-duty roof rack . . . bigger tires . . . a lift kit . . . and an on-board CO2 tank.

But here’s the coolest part:  His charred doors were kind of like a badge of honor.  So they did a custom paint job for him to RECREATE the look.  And they even gave it some texture where the paint on his old truck had boiled and bubbled up.

They gave him the new truck last November, but recently surprised him with the custom paint job.  And the first photos of it just hit Facebook.

WHEN NATURE CALLS:
How much time do you spend outdoors in an average week?

And I don’t mean walking across a concrete parking lot, I mean REALLY outdoors…like in a park or near the water or in a forest?

A study from the University of Exeter Medical School says that spending two hours a week outside in nature can make you feel better about your health and well-being. They asked 20,000 people about how much time they spent in a natural environment over the previous week.

What they found was that those who reported spending more than two hours in nature were more likely to report high levels of health and well-being. Those who spent less than 120 minutes in nature were no more likely to report good health and well being than those who reported zero minutes.

EXERCISE MAY HAVE DIFFERENT EFFECTS IN THE MORNING AND EVENING

Finding the time to exercise can be challenging, and it turns out the effects of exercise may differ depending on the time of day it is performed.

When looking at mice, they found exercise performed in the morning results in an increased metabolic response in skeletal muscle, while exercise later in the day increases energy expenditure for an extended period of time.

Researchers still won’t say if exercising at one time is better than exercising at the other, noting “At this point, we can only conclude that the effects of the two appear to differ, and we certainly have more work to determine the potential mechanisms for the beneficial effects of exercise and training performed at these two time-points.

We are eager to extend these studies to identify if timed exercise can be used as a treatment strategy for people with metabolic diseases.”

MIDLAND REFLECTS ON ‘INSANE’ OPPORTUNITY TO OPEN FOR GARTH BROOKS

Of all the things Midland has gotten to do as a band, perhaps the highlight thus far has been opening for Garth Brooks on his current Stadium Tour. Midland member Jess Carson tells us: [“We’ve done one show with Garth so far in Pittsburgh. It was the largest ticketed event in the history of Pittsburgh as a city, 75,000 people, Heinz Field. It was absolutely insane. The show actually got delayed about an hour and a half because of a thunderstorm. So, when we went on, it was like for the full 75,000 people. So, it was nuts, and Garth is just so gracious.  And one of the coolest parts of the whole thing for me was he was sound checking, and then we were waiting to soundcheck and he was like comin’ up on stage.  So I’m standing like next to him, and he’s playing ‘The River’ and ‘Thunder Rolls’.  He’s like going through all these songs. You know, I’m just like standing right next to him.  It’s crazy.”]

Midland just announced their Let It Roll Tour, which will support their brand new album of the same name coming out on August 23rd. The project features their latest single, “Mr. Lonely.”

Carrie Underwood’s Baby

CARRIE UNDERWOOD posted an awesome home video of her five-month-old son Jacob making it very clear which parent he wants to hear sing him a lullaby.  I’ll give you a hint that you don’t need.  It’s not his daddy, Mike Fisher.

Carrie’s filming it and it starts with Jacob on a mattress in a pretty good mood . . . until Mike starts singing, and he cries immediately.  But then Carrie starts singing and he stops.

Mike does it a second time, and the tears flow again . . . until Carrie starts singing, and the tears stop.  Mike tries it a third time, same result.

The video was posted yesterday on Carrie’s Instagram page.

Scroll down for some great celebrity comments.  Justin Timberlake wrote, “This is the greatest thing I’ve seen all year.”  Kimberly Williams-Paisley said, “Oh my gosh, I’m dying”.

Danielle Bradbery – was forced to cancel her appearance at the 2019 Country LakeShake Festival in Chicago. Bradbery, who launched her career as a contestant on “The Voice”, posted: “I’m so bummed I’m going to miss out on all the fun in Chicago today. I was in a car accident on my way to the airport, however I’m o.k. Getting checked out now and going to get some rest.” The LakeShake Festival kicked off on Friday, featuring a headlining show from Miranda Lambert.

LUKE BRYAN INVITES ‘GRONK’ ON STAGE AT GILLETTE STADIUM – (06/24/2019)

Luke Bryan’s concert at Gillette Stadium in Foxboro, MA on Friday (June 21st) featured an appearance by former Patriots tight end Rob Gronkowski.

The crowd went wild when the retired NFL player stepped on stage. MassLive.com reports that Bryan, who was wearing a Patriots jersey, grabbed a football and tried to complete a pass to Gronkowski on stage, but Bryan overthrew him and a fan ended up with the ball. Bryan got the ball back and managed to get it to Gronk on his second pass attempt saying, “I can now say I completed a pass to Gronk in Gillette Stadium. How cool is that?”
