CK Mornings

There’s a guy named Cory Lutz in Petersburg, Kentucky, and over the weekend, he and his fiancée and her sister built a big snowman in the yard.

Well . . . apparently, on Monday, someone was driving by, saw the snowman, and decided to RUN IT OVER.  But what that person didn’t realize was . . . the snowman was built over a big TREE STUMP.

So, when Cory got home, he saw the tire tracks leading up to the snowman . . . and a bumper-shaped dent in the snow against the stump.

Two studies released last week say that more than half of all coffee species are at risk of extinction.  New research from Britain’s Kew Royal Botanical Gardens found that upwards of 60 per cent of the world’s wild coffee species are in danger of being eradicated due to deforestation, climate change and plant diseases.  Climate change is also being blamed for making coffee taste worse. The most popular bean used for commercial coffee production, arabica, is already on the endangered species list and could be completely extinct within 60 years.

ENTERTAINMENT

SAMUEL L. JACKSON is Hollywood’s most bankable star.  His 120-plus movies have made $13.3 BILLION around the world, and $5.7 billion in the U.S.

That’s better than HARRISON FORD and TOM HANKS, who are the next two guys on the list.

But movies aren’t his only source of income.  In fact, they might not even be his MAIN source of income.  According to a new profile, he makes EIGHT FIGURES A YEAR doing those Capital One commercials.  That means at least $10 million.  A year.

Not bad for a guy who spent 15 years of his life ADDICTED TO CRACK.

It apparently pays to photobomb. Kelleth Cuthbert, the Fiji Water Girl whose blue dress, coy smile and knack for being in strategic places captivated the online world on the 2019 Golden Globes red carpet, has been working on the soap opera The Bold and The Beautiful.

Her appearance will air Feb. 6, according to reports. Cuthbert posted a photo of herself on Instagram with some of the soap’s cast this week, Details of her appearance or the possibility of an ongoing role were not revealed. Since the Golden Globes, Cuthbert and her water tray have become a favorite meme in social media.

CRUISE PASSENGER BANNED FROM ROYAL CARIBBEAN FOR LIFE

Social media is good for a lot of things, but not for inspiring people to do smart things.

Royal Caribbean says recent cruise passenger Nick Naydev has been banned from sailing with them for life after he leaped from the Symphony of the Seas while it was docked in Nassau, Bahamas.

The 27-year-old from Vancouver, Washington first shared footage of himself making the leap from the 11th-floor of the ship on Friday (January 11th.)

In the video Naydev’s friends can be seen helping him stand on the railing before he takes the plunge. Immediately following the stunt Naydev was told he wouldn’t be allowed to re-board the ship, and would have to find his own way home from the Bahamas.

As for Naydev, he told Fox News, “I am truly astonished at how this video has spread throughout the Internet. I did not think this through before I jumped. My idea was this would be a good laugh for my friends and I would just swim back to shore and continue my vacation.”

Royal Caribbean says it is seeking legal action against Naydev.

TODAY’S GOOD NEWS

A South Carolina woman may have broken a Guinness World Record after finishing a 10K race while pushing two babies in a double stroller.

Rachel Bowling, 30, ran the LowCountry Habitat for Humanity Resolution Run 10K on Dataw Island and finished with a time of 42 minutes and 34 seconds, beating the previous record for finishing a 10K while pushing a double stroller by 2 minutes and 11 seconds.

The previous record was set by Jocelyn Armitage of Blackpool, England, on July 8, 2018. Bowling’s brother, Daniel Brubaker, 22, rode his bicycle next to the running mom to take photo and video evidence for Guinness World Records.

Bowling said she has submitted the evidence to the record-keeping organization in hopes of having her accomplishment officially recognized.

“I plan to frame it and explain it to the girls — just to say, ‘Hey, we held a world record and it wasn’t just me!'” Bowling told ABC’s Good Morning America of her Guinness World Records certificate. “My husband and kids were involved and my brother. It was a family affair. That means a lot rather than just me running fast.”

LIFE HACKS TO MAKE YOUR LIFE EASIER:
✓ Is your butter rock hard from the fridge but you’re too hungry to wait? Just use a grater to shred the butter into pieces. It will soften considerably faster.

✓ When you want to enjoy a bottle of cold beer but don’t have the time or patience to wait, wrap your beer bottle in a couple of wet paper towels and put it in the freezer for 8-to-15 minutes.

✓ Wrinkly shirt? It might sound odd but just throw it in the dryer with a few ice cubes for 5 minutes. Wrinkles gone!

✓ Rather than breaking your fingernails trying to get a key off your key-ring, use a staple remover.

✓ If you can’t find a flathead screwdriver, use an electric plug. Basic power plugs usually fit medium and large-sized screws.

✓ If you’re one of those people who injures fingers every time you try to hammer a nail, use a clothespin to hold the nail instead of your fingers.

✓ Are your zippers constantly getting stuck? Believe it or not, rubbing graphite – in other words, a pencil – on the zipper teeth will lubricate them.

Florida Georgia Line will release their new album, Can’t Say I Ain’t Country, on February 15th, featuring their chart-topping hit, “Simple” and their current single, “Talk You Out of It.”  Tyler and Brian Kelley did not write the sexy song, but as Tyler says, it’s a first for the duo.

Their Can’t Say I Ain’t Country tour kicks off on June 13th in Rogers, AR, with special guests Dan + Shay and Morgan WallenHardy and Canaan Smith will join the tour on select dates.

Here’s How Your Favorite Country Bands Came Up With Their Names

The Boot has a great story about how different country bands came up with their names.  There are a “few dozen” groups in the story, which means they covered most of the big ones, plus several obscure bands.

Here are two that most people seem to know about:  The Dixie Chicks got their name from the Little Feat song Dixie Chicken.  And Florida’s Brian Kelley partnered up Georgia’s Tyler Hubbard to form Florida Georgia Line.  Here are some you may not know:

Lady Antebellum:  That name originated at a publicity shoot that featured a pre-Civil War Southern mansion for a scenic backdrop.

Little Big Town:  They heard about a Nashville music publisher called Little Big Town Music Group, and then got the okay to go ahead and use it.

Lanco:  They started out as Lancaster & Co. thanks to lead singer Brandon Lancaster.  They eventually shortened it to Lanco.

Midland:  No, they’re not named after Midland, Texas.  They’re all from the West Coast and their name comes from the Dwight Yoakam song Fair to Midland.
