MONDAY JANUARY 7TH                          –                             WHAT’S HAPPENING

Police are warning people of a phishing attempt posed as a Netflix email.

The email claims to have trouble with payment information and asks users to update their information.

The email says if users fail to do so, their account would be suspended.

Netflix says remember an official Netflix email will not ask for personal info such as credit card number, or your account password.

If you think you’ve gotten one of these phising emails or texts, you can forward it to phishing at Netflix.com.

Netflix also recommends users to immediately change their password if they receive one of these emails.

Actress Rebel Wilson’s winter getaway didn’t exactly go as planned. The “Pitch Perfect” star decided to try her hand at skiing during her trip to Aspen, Colorado, but it was easier said then done. She ended up having to be rescued from the top of a mountain after realizing she had gone up too high, and couldn’t get back down. At first, she cheekily posted to her Instagram story that “This is a bit too experienced for me, so I’m just gonna slide down.” But then things escalated.  Next, she shared a video of herself strapped to a yellow stretcher while her rescuer prepared to take her down the mountain. Her hashtag? #HorizontalSkiing, of course, a reference to her “Pitch Perfect” character, Amy’s, “horizontal running.”

Three Ways to Waste Less Food

94% of us admit to wasting food, according to a new survey . . . to the tune of about 250 POUNDS of food per person, every single year.

The average family wastes nearly a THIRD of the food they buy, either because they forget it’s in the fridge . . . don’t save leftovers . . . or just wait too long to eat it.

So here are three things you can do to cut down on how much food you waste.  Which is good for the environment, and for your wallet . . .

  1. Organize your fridge.  Create a “first in, first out” system, and keep older food near the front where you can see it and won’t forget about it.  And where you put things also matters.  Cheese and yogurt stay fresher on the top shelf.  Fruits and vegetables should go in the drawers at the bottom.  And milk should be inside the fridge, not on the door.

  1. Get creative with your recipes, and find new ways to use stuff that’s going bad.  You can find ideas by googling “leftover ingredient recipes.”  And in general, any fruits and vegetables that are going bad can usually still work in soups, or smoothies.

  1. Get in the habit of moving stuff to the freezer before it goes bad.  Most foods do okay in the freezer and taste fine when you thaw them out.  A few that DON’T are eggs, pasta, and cream-based soups or sauces.

  1. Portland, Oregon has the most strip clubs per capita in the U.S. with one for every 11,300 or so residents.  Tampa, Florida is second.

  1. Sissy Spacekwas her high school’s homecoming queen almost a decade before she was in “Carrie”.  And as far as we know, no one dumped blood on her in real life.
