Many restaurants leave salt and pepper shakers right on the table, we’re used to seeing it, but how often do those items really get cleaned? Jonas Sickler, director of operations at ConsumerSafety.org said, “Most salt and pepper shakers are only wiped down if they appear dirty, and even then, only with a damp cloth that bussers keep in their pockets.
While some restaurants collect, refill, and wipe down shakers, they are rarely properly emptied and sanitized.” A 2010 study conducted by ABC News found the average pepper shaker contained 11,600 bacteria. Sickler says since shakers are such a potential germ source, it’s a better idea to ask the chef to spice up your food in the kitchen, and just avoid using salt altogether.

A woman named Parul Patel owns a gas station in Jacksonville, Florida, and recently had to put up a sign telling people they’re not allowed to use the microwave to warm up URINE.
There are two labs that do drug tests nearby, and people have been bringing in clean urine to warm it up and pass it off as their own.

TODAY’S GOOD NEWS
A 15-year-old kid in Chicago named Josh Bangert recently noticed the vision in his left eye was a little blurry, and thought he just needed glasses. But last month, he was diagnosed with something called “Leber’s hereditary optic neuropathy.”
It means he’s going BLIND, and there’s nothing anyone can do about it. There’s no surgery or medication for it. And he could lose his vision by the end of the YEAR.
Obviously, he was devastated. But he’s been coming to terms with it, and says his faith has been a big help. And now he’s on a mission to see as much as possible while he still can. He made a bucket list of all the stuff he’d like to see before his vision goes . . . stuff like Niagara Falls and seeing a live NBA game.
And now hundreds of random people online are making it happen . . . by stepping up and donating over $37,000 to help him see whatever he wants to see while he still can.
He doesn’t know how much time he has, so he’s already started. He had front-row seats to a Bulls game last week, and got to water ski for the first time. And last Friday, he flew to California to go see the mountains and the ocean.
Any leftover money is going toward medical expenses and research.

Christmas Tree-Flavored Potato Chips Are Now a Thing That Exists
A company in the U.K. just started selling Christmas tree-flavored potato chips. The main ingredient is pine salt seasoning . . . and one review says the chips have a, quote, “piney, woodsy taste.” Cool?
Anyway, there’s no word on whether they could go on sale over here, but if you HAVE to have them, I’m sure you can find a way to order them with international shipping.

- After devastating parts of the Florida Panhandle and killing at least six people, Hurricane Michael’s still not done, as it was still a tropical storm this morning as it moved over North Carolina and into Virgina, bringing damaging winds and flash flooding as it heads toward the Atlantic Ocean.
Authorities are worried that the death toll could increase as search-and-rescue efforts continue, after four people were killed in Florida, one person in North Carolina, and a child in Georgia.
Mexico Beach was demolished by Michael, and nearby Panama City was also hit hard, and downed trees, blocked roads and difficult communications are making it more difficult to get to people who need help. At least 1.3 million customers in six states are without power.
- The Philadelphia Eagles topped the New York Giants 34-13 last night (October 11th) on the Giants’ home field, sending the struggling New York team to a 1-5 record.

5. That woman who was forced off a plane for having an emotional support squirrel says she’s planning to sue. It happened on a Frontier flight in Orlando on Tuesday. She says she wouldn’t let them take her baby, she’s going all the way, and she’s going for blood.
CARRIE UNDERWOOD AND MIKE FISHER RAISE NEARLY $600,000 FOR ‘DANITA’S CHILDREN’ –
Carrie Underwood and her husband, former Nashville Predators Captain Mike Fisher, raised nearly $600,000 for Danita’s Children, an organization dedicated to educating, empowering, and equipping the children and families of Haiti to become Christ-like leaders.
For the 2nd year in a row, the couple hosted the star-studded benefit near Nashville to raise awareness and funds. The evening included an intimate concert by Carrie and Brad Paisley. The invitation-only event was attended by over 450 patrons.
Carrie and Mike visited Danita’s Children center in Haiti in 2014 and have been passionate supporters ever since.

Kristian Bush says the Sugarland song “Babe” with Taylor Swift is about empowering women, and that’s why Taylor wanted to record it with them.
TAYLOR SWIFT wrapped the U.S. leg of her Reputation Tour over the weekend in Arlington, Texas. And she had some big time guests join her.
On Friday, she brought MAREN MORRIS to the stage, and they performed “The Middle” . . .and on Saturday Taylor had SUGARLAND join her for their song “Babe”. It was the first time they’ve ever performed it together in public, and Taylor was into it . . . down to the choreographed dance at the end.
KRISTIAN BUSH was asked in an interview why Taylor gave them the song in the first place. He said it’s all about “empowerment” . . . and alluded to how Jennifer Nettles is such a strong presence in the duo.
GARTH BROOKS GEARS UP FOR NEXT ‘ANTHOLOGY’ RELEASE – (10/10/2018)
Garth Brooks will make history on October 20 when he takes the stage at Indiana’s sold out, Notre Dame Stadium. In the meantime, he’s been working on releasing his next Anthology collection. Part III will be out November 20.
