Millennials have been blamed for ‘killing’ a lot of things, but now they’re being credited with bringing at least two back– recreational vehicles (RVs) and recliners.

La-Z-Boy shares jumped more than 20 percent and it’s CEO credits their decision to target the millennial consumer.

Also, wholesale RV shipments increased 17.2 percent since 2016, its highest annual level on comparable record, according to the RV Industry Association. In June, Winnebago reported an 18 percent increases in sales for the quarter. It’s thought they’re getting more popular in part because people are becoming more likely to take a day off here or there, making long weekends, rather than taking off long stretches of time for vacation.

These days we’re used our orders arriving pretty quickly, but that doesn’t mean mistakes can’t happen. A Florida woman who ordered a set of Dr. Seuss books for her granddaughters says the package just arrived– 20 years after she ordered it.

Vera Walker of Orlando says her granddaughter was only four-years-old when she ordered the books in 1998, but the child had grown into an adult and had a five-year-old son of her own by the time the books arrived on Walker’s doorstep. The post office explained that the box had been found stuck inside an old mailbox. Walker says the books arrived just in time for her to share them with her great-grandson.

TODAY’S GOOD NEWS

A caterer saved the day at a wedding after the officiant broke her ankle after a fall the night before the ceremony at the rehearsal dinner.

The bride and groom were panicked but things settled once the catering crew from The City Barbecue arrived. The bride asked the truck driver to wait in case the officiant needed to go to the hospital and the conversation was overheard by the caterin manager, Manny Morales.

Morales said, “I could see that she was really upset when we were talking. I was thinking in the back of my head, I can do this. I’m an officiant.”

The bride, Kelsey admitted, “I thought he was kidding.” But Morales showed up the next day at 4 P.M. and married Kelsey to her fiance, Andy Schneck. Kelsey said, “I mean, he saved our big day. I mean, I would describe him as almost the hero of the wedding, because without him, I don’t know what the outcome would’ve been. He saved out day in every way possible.”

TOO STUPID FOR US TO MAKE UP:
→ A Portland, OR woman who was arrested after allegedly stealing an unoccupied ambulance and leading a nearly 30-mile police chase said she “wasn’t trying to hurt anyone.”  Police say she stole the ambulance while EMTs were giving a person CPR nearby.  She did not pull over when the first police car started chasing.  Instead, she drove the ambulance onto a highway with the emergency lights on.  She reached speeds of 80-85 miles per hour, swerving between lanes and passing semi-trucks, before being stopped by a spike belt.  On the way to jail, she asked an officer, “Why did they leave it unlocked?  The police car was locked.”

→ Ontario police say they had to rescue a naked Trenton man after he entered a storm drain on a bet.  Police say the 24-year-old told them that his friends had left the area after he entered the storm drain naked – and they took all his clothes with them.  He was removed from the drainage system without injury and was charged with being intoxicated in a public place and trespassing.
