A six-year-old boy in Texas had basically never talked, and his parents were afraid he might never be able to speak. But a dentist noticed on a routine visit that he was tongue-tied . . . his tongue had never fully separated from the bottom of his mouth before he was born. So they did a quick procedure and the boy started talking normally on the first day.

L.A. authorities are warning against “Doing it for the ‘Gram’” after noticing a dangerous trend: people risking their lives and doing dangerous stunts – all for the perfect selfie. There are many locations in the area such as Eaton Canyon and Hermit Falls, which are favorite locations for daredevils to post selfies of themselves on steep cliffs, or jumping into pools of water below. Last year, search-and-rescue teams with the Los Angeles County Sheriff’s Department conducted 681 missions, the most in five years. And the problem isn’t limited to the California hills. In Montreal, coyotes attacked people who got too close when trying for a photo. In New York State’s Catskill Mountains, 4 people have died in the last 4 years taking selfies near Kaaterskill Falls. Officials in some areas are considering a public safety campaign on the dangers of “extreme selfies.”

OCTOBER 2ND, 2012 Darius Rucker was invited to became a member of the Grand Ole Opry. The way he found out was a bit unorthodox. After playing a set at the Opry, Darius answered a few questions from the audience. The person asking the final question, though, turned out to be Brad Paisley, who asked two questions: “Are you still the worst poker player in the world?” And then, “Would you like to be the newest member of the Grand Ole Opry?”

TODAY’S GOOD NEWS
Monday was the one-year anniversary of the Las Vegas shooting that left 58 people dead and hundreds wounded. But one couple who lived through it didn’t want October 1st to always remind them of the worst day of their lives . . .
Todd Wienke and Oshia Collins-Waters were at the Route 91 Harvest Music Festival together when the shooting started. And Todd was hit three times while shielding her from the bullets . . . once in the back, once in the arm, and once in his left side.
Thankfully, they both survived. Todd still deals with pain from leftover shrapnel in his body. And Oshia was diagnosed with PTSD. But they refuse to let that one day define the rest of their lives.
So instead of just going back over it in their heads yesterday . . . they decided to get MARRIED in the same city where the shooting happened.
Todd proposed to her 12 days after the shooting. And they both immediately said the wedding HAD to be in Vegas, and it HAD to be on October 1st.
They have kids, and didn’t want them to always remember it as the day their parents almost died. So they decided to, quote, “[take] back that date,” and turn it into a GREAT day for their family instead of a tragic one.

TOO STUPID FOR US TO MAKE UP:
→ A Montgomery Village, Md. couple took an unintended dip when the car that they were riding in jumped a curb, crashed through a fence and landed in a community center swimming pool.
A Fire and Rescue spokesman says that the driver and passenger, a man and woman in their 50s or 60s, were uninjured, but wet. It’s unclear who was behind the wheel when the driver turned into a diver. Apparently, one was giving the other a driving lesson.
→ Neighbors are complaining about a Stuart, Florida man who’s apparently getting a little too comfortable in his own skin. They say the man frequently does outdoor chores completely nude.
Reports are that he has been seen working on his car and doing various yard work while in the buff. Police say they’re unable to take action against him because he is on private property and is “not touching himself inappropriately.” The man declined an interview, reportedly telling a TV station that he and his family are “private people.”

So keeping those tootsies toasty could help you fall asleep faster, and you might even sleep better.
Previous research says wearing socks to bed could help you fall asleep up to 15 minutes sooner than you typically do.

- The Milwaukee Brewers and the Los Angeles Dodgers won their tiebreaker games yesterday (October 1st) to take their National League division titles and advance to the playoffs.
The Brewers beat the Chicago Cubs 3-1 to win the NL Central, and the Dodgers topped the Colorado Rockies 5-2 to take their sixth straight NL West title.
The Dodgers will now play the Atlanta Braves in their National League Division series, and the Brewers will play the winner of the NL wild card game in their Division Series. Yesterday’s losers, the Cubs and the Rockies, will play each other tonight for the wild card.
The Kansas City Chiefs beat the Denver Broncos 27-23 in Monday Night Football last night (October 1st) in Denver, with the Chiefs rallying from being down 10 points in the fourth quarter for the win.
- KHRIS DAVIS from the Oakland A’s has a batting average that’s LITERALLY an average. Somehow, he’s finished each of the last four seasons at .247 exactly. No other player in baseball history has even done it THREE years in a row.
- Baltimore Orioles’ outfielder Chris Davis finished the season with a .168 batting average, the worst in Major League Baseball history. To be considered a qualified hitter, a batter must reach 502 plate appearances in a given season. Davis made 522. The once-feared slugger signed a whopping $161 million contract prior to the 2016 season.

Dan + Shay shared the bill with Reba McEntire, who also served as host, at CMA Country Christmas, which was taped Thursday, September 27th before a live audience in Nashville.
Dan Smyers and Shay Mooney are fans of Reba’s, but it was Shay’s one-year-old son, Asher, who became fast friends with the icon during rehearsals earlier this week.
Reba shared a couple sweet pictures of herself sharing some tasty treats with Asher on Wednesday (September 26th) writing, “I made a new friend today. Asher Mooney. We’re foodie pals!!!”

Carly Pearce is loving her life these days both personally and professionally. While her romance with fellow artist Michael Ray is full steam ahead – Carly is climbing inside the Top 16 on the country charts with her latest single, “Hide The Wine.”
Carly says that all her dreams are coming true and she credits the fans.

- Josh Turner – will fulfill a lifelong dream with the October 26 release of his gospel album “I Serve a Savior”. A deeply spiritual person, Turner says he’s been waiting to create the faith-based collection for a long while, and he’s finally found the right time. It will feature some originals and some cover versions of gospel songs, and will feature guests including Bobby Osborne and Sonya Isaacs.
