A Dutch engineering company just created a car that you move with your feet.  Yes . . . like in “The Flintstones”.

The big difference is that you don’t have to run on the ground to make the car move . . . instead of a gas pedal, it’s got a set of bicycle pedals.  And to make the car go, you’ve gotta use ’em.

You don’t use your feet to brake though, you use a hand brake on the steering wheel . . . kind of like how the brake on a bike works.

The people who created the car say you could burn 300 calories during your half-hour commute. So when will we get these cars?  That’s not clear.  They have an international patent on it, so we COULD see it over here at some point, but they’re planning to start by selling it in the Netherlands.

They say you’re only as old as you feel, and now new research says that just might be right.  Apparently, those of us who feel younger than their age actually show fewer signs of brain aging.   Participants were asked to complete a survey which assessed their cognitive abilities and perceptions of their overall health and asked whether they felt older or younger than their age.  The results showed that those who felt younger than their age were more likely to score higher on a memory test, reported better health and were less likely to report symptoms of depression.  As one of the study’s authors put it, “We found that people who feel younger have the structural characteristics of a younger brain.”

Andrew Lincoln shocked fans of “The Walking Dead” in July when he confirmed rumors that he will leave the show during the upcoming ninth season. But while his days as Rick Grimes are numbered, he may not be finished with the series just yet. He plans to return in the 10th season, only this time behind the camera. Lincoln says he will be back to “shadow a director”, with an eye toward directing an episode in the future.  The new season of Walking Dead premieres Sunday, Oct. 7.

COUNTRY MUSIC NOTE

OCTOBER 1ST, 2007    Keith Urban was unhurt whe he skidded off his motorbike after a photographer followed him near his home in Sydney, Austalia. In a statement released by his publicists, Urban said the incident was “the result of one person’s desire to do his job and my desire to maintain my privacy.” Urban said he tried to avoid an oncoming car and dropped his bike and the photographer came to his assistance without taking photos.

TODAY’S GOOD NEWS

There’s a five-year-old girl in Chicago named Florence Wisniewski.  And when she heard that a catastrophic HURRICANE named “Florence” was hitting the East Coast this month, she wasn’t happy about it.

She usually goes by “Flo,” but kept hearing her full name on the news.  And her full name usually means she’s in TROUBLE.  So her mom had to explain what was going on, and showed her some pictures of the flooding. One of the photos showed a family staying in a shelter.  And she asked if they could send them some toys and diapers, because they had a baby.

So her dad made her a sign that said, “Help Flo Help Hurricane Florence Victims.”  And she went door-to-door with a red wagon, asking her neighbors to donate supplies.

The story eventually went viral, and people from all over the COUNTRY started sending stuff.  So she ended up with a mountain of supplies.  And she even put off her fifth BIRTHDAY party last Friday to keep working.

Her parents weren’t sure what to do with all the stuff that’s been piling up.  But they found a charity that was already taking truckloads of stuff to the Carolinas.  And they had room for Flo’s stuff too.

  1. Giancarlo Stanton of the Yankees hit a home run at Fenway on Saturday, and a Red Sox fan threw it back . . . and hit him as he rounded second.  Stanton wasn’t hurt, and had a sense of humour about it.  The fan apologized, and said he was just trying to throw the ball as far as he could . . . he wasn’t actually trying to hit anyone.  It looks like he got ejected, but he told the news he WASN’T thrown out of the ballpark.

  1. “Night School” was #1 at the box office this weekend, earning $28 million.  That’s the best debut for a “pure comedy” so far this year.  The animated movie “Smallfoot”opened in second, with #23 million.

For one Hamilton, Ont. couple who’d fallen onto hard times, their $1 million Lotto Max prize could not have come any sooner. 58-year-old Robert Benning recently lost his job at a steel factory after the plant shut down. After finding out about the win, Benning woke up 59-year-old retiree Catherine Bates to tell her the news—and propose to her. The couple share three children together. With the money, the couple plan on helping their kids and buying a new trailer to park “somewhere down south,” Bates said because Bates’ son is an OLG employee, the prize had to be held for 30 days while they did an investigation.

The U.S. and Canada reached a deal yesterday (September 30th) after weeks of negotiations. The new deal will be called the United States-Mexico-Canada Agreement (USMCA) and replace the 24-year-old North American Free Trade Agreement (NAFTA), U.S. farmers will have greater access to the Canadian dairy market. But it also gives Canada protection if Trump goes forward with plans to impose tariffs on cars, trucks and auto parts imported into the U.S.

THOMAS RHETT CHILLS OUT WITH SOME HELP FROM KENNY CHESNEY – (09/20/2018)

Kenny Chesney is a big believer of the benefits of soaking in an ice bath after he works out, so much so, that he carries a special tub with him on tour, specifically designed for ice baths.  When Thomas Rhett was on tour with Kenny, he used the ice tub every day after he worked out. Thanks to Kenny’s generosity, it’s something Thomas tells us has become a part of his daily routine.

Thomas just kicked off the fall leg of his Life Changes tour with Brett Young and Midland.

KANE BROWN SAYS WORKING ON SECOND ALBUM IS ‘SCARY’ – (08/03/2018)

Kane Brown has been hard at work on his sophomore album. He has been writing and sifting through songs that will serve as the follow up to his 2016 platinum-selling self-titled debut, which produced two huge hits — “What Ifs” and “Heaven.”

While thrilled with the succes, Kane tells us it makes going into the next project a little more difficult.

While there’s no word on when Kane will release the new album, its first single, “Lose It,” is already climbing the charts.
