Turning Bad Luck Around
A woman’s bad luck has definitely turned after she won £300,00 (CDN $472,154) in the lottery. Karen Parkin of London began playing scratch cards after witnessing a woman win £50,000 (US $57,000).
She’s had a rough few years as she was forced to give up her job due to arthritis of the spine. That resulted in a serious cash flow problem, and the feeling that “If something bad is going to happen someone then it’s always me.”
But on October 18, while standing in a store lineup, she remembered the lucky scratch card winner and decided to buy 2 Cosmic Cash tickets. When she got home, one of the scratch cards revealed that she had won the top prize.
The 51-year-old says she didn’t get a ‘wink of sleep’ that night, and it didn’t take long for her to splurge on a new campervan. She also plans to treat her mum to a trip to Cairo and the Maldives.
