Good News

A Brazilian fisherman survived 11 days in the Atlantic Ocean by staying inside a frozen freezer.

Romualdo Macedo Rodrigues was on his sinking wooden boat when he noticed the freezer was not sinking, so he jumped inside. Rodrigues said that sharks surrounded the freezer at one point, but eventually swam away.

The 44-year-old, who does not know how to swim, remained at sea in the freezer for 11 days until another fishing boat pulled him aboard. He was then taken to a hospital for treatment.

“I was thinking about my kids, my wife … all my family. It gave me strength and hope,” Rodrigues said. “I thought I wouldn’t be telling this story, but I’m back here.”

A news outlet in Oregon did a story about a guy named Eric Akers who walked 33 miles to get to work after his car broke down.  It took six-and-a-half hours, and then he worked a full eight-hour shift.  But here’s the good news:  By Friday, he already had a new ride.

After a guy named Chris Arsenault heard about it, he and his wife decided to give Eric one of THEIR cars.  It’s an old 1997 Honda but still runs great.  Chris said he was impressed Eric still went to work, so he wanted to help him out.
