Farm Aid To March On D.C. In The Spring
Farm Aid concert was Saturday in Raleigh, North Carolina, and climate change was a major theme.
Co-founders Willie Nelson and John Mellencamp were both part of a press conference Friday night that focused on how it’s affecting small, family-run farms.
They announced plans for a big, three-day march in D.C. next spring called “Farmers for Climate.” It’s set for the week of March 6th.
Here are a few quick highlights from the show . . .
1. As always, some big names were involved. On top of Willie and John, the line-up included Chris Stapleton, Sheryl Crow, and Dave Matthews. Co-founder Neil Young wasn’t there this time because of Covid concerns.
2. There was a big $1 million donation. Indianapolis Colts owner Jim Irsay wrote the check and gave it to John on stage before his set. They joked that it was for a very expensive backstage pass.
Farm Aid has now raised upwards of $65 million for farmers since the first concert in 1985.
