WHAT’S HAPPENING

★ Khloé Kardashian has reportedly been offered $10 million to star on “The Bachelorette”. The 30-year-old reality TV star, who split from estranged husband Lamar Odom in December 2013, is said to be seriously considering the idea because she’s eager to find a new man and also sees the opportunity as a good career (?!?) move. An insider says ABC-TV has been throwing out a lot of big numbers because they think the idea has ‘sure-fire hit’ written all over it. Khloé previously hosted “The X Factor USA” alongside Mario Lopez.
– CNN claims Frito-Lay is asking people to vote to determine their new flavor.Flavors include: Biscuits and gravy, gyros, truffle fries and New York Reuben. Frito-Lay will pay $1 million to the inventor of the winning flavor. The winning flavor will hit shelves soon.

– A new Washington Post/ABC News poll reveals that Donald Trump is the leading Republican candidate for President (24%) followed by Scott Walker (13%), Jeb Bush (12%), Mike Huckabee (8%) and Marco Rubio (7%).
– The Hollywood Reporter claims NBC is developing a new version of ”Xena: Warrior Princess”. Lucy Lawless will be involved

★ Cuban-American actor and former model William Levy is fronting “Cuban Chrome”, a new docu-series about classic cars abandoned in Havana before the 1959 revolution. Many of the vintage autos have been maintained ever since via makeshift repairs using parts from other models. Producers were granted permission to shoot the series as ‘professional research for an educational documentary’ while the US embargo on Cuba was still in place. “Cuban Chrome” is airing Monday nights on Discovery Channel and Discovery en Espanol.– WENN.com

• “Home Free” (FOX/HGTV) – Mike Holmes hosts this new reality show in which 9 couples renovate a rundown house. It’s a competition, but what they don’t know is that each of them is getting a new dream home.

  • “Last Comic Standing” (NBC) – Comedians compete for a cash prize and a TV development deal in the 9th season debut. Anthony Jeselnik is the new host; standup Norm Macdonald is a new judge, joining returnees Roseanne Barr and Keenen Ivory Wayans.
  • “Sharknado 3: Oh Hell No!” (Syfy/Space) – In yet another cheesy sequel, Washington DC is the site of the latest shark crisis. Stars Ian Ziering & Tara Reid are back, alongside the likes of
Bo Derek, David Hasselhoff, Jerry Springer, Kathie Lee Gifford, and Mark Cuban … as the US president. (The 2nd instalment was unwatchable. How much worse can this one be?)

Cop Pulled a Woman Over, Then Gave Her the Heimlich and Saved Her Life

A cop in Austin, Texas pulled a 30-year-old woman over on July 5th for using her phone while driving.  His name is Dustin Clinkscales . . . and while he was walking up to her car, she started to get OUT, and was grabbing her throat.

He realized she was CHOKING on something . . . started doing the Heimlich maneuver . . . and saved her life.  Then she passed out, but he caught her before her head hit the ground.  And his dash-cam was running the whole time, so it’s all on video.

According to the local news, she was choking on a “biscuit”.  And it happened around 8:00 in the morning, so it was probably a breakfast sandwich.

Anyway, Dustin called paramedics, who took her to the hospital, and now she’s okay.  It turns out she was using her phone to call 911, so she didn’t get a ticket.

Her dad also happens to be a detective with the Austin Police Department, so he met up with Dustin afterward and gave him a big hug for saving his daughter’s life.

(It’s actually the second time this has happened in under a year.  A cop in Michigan pulled a woman over last August . . . gave her the Heimlich when he realized she was ALSO choking on a breakfast sandwich . . . and saved her life.)

Police Caught a Thief After He Posted Photos on Facebook Holding the Stuff He Stole

37-year-old Adrian Staples of Thief River Falls, Minnesota robbed a convenience store earlier this month by threatening the clerk with a SWORD.  And that right there would make him a criminal stupid enough to talk about.  But it gets better.

The sword thing actually worked, and Adrian stole some cash and cigarettes.  Then he took off and went home.

But about half an hour later, he posted PHOTOS on Facebook holding up the stuff he’d stolen.

Luckily the cops decided to search on social media for suspects . . . probably because of the many, MANY stories in the news about idiot criminals incriminating themselves online.

So they found Adrian’s post, and he was arrested for robbery.

YELLED AT A CHILD

Darla Neugebauer, the owner of Marcy’s Diner in Portland, Maine, recently screamed at a crying toddler. The child became frustrated because she couldn’t reach the pancakes her parents ordered for her.

Darla says that she asked the girl’s parents to leave or go outside with her. “You are lucky I didn’t get really nuts because being physical is not something I cower from. Life’s full of choices and you’ve got to live with all of them. I chose to yell at a kid (and) it made her shut up, which made me happy, it made my staff happy, it made the 75 other people dining here happy, and they left, they may never come back, other people may not come in — their loss, really. Sorry isn’t the right word. I might have used poor judgment. I wouldn’t say I was sorry, because it stopped. When things stop, it’s usually a good thing.”

The child’s mother, Tara Carson, says: “I turned to my daughter and I was like, ‘Listen, this is how I’m raising you not to be as an adult — like, you will never be like this when you get older.’ I felt helpless as a mom that, you know, I couldn’t do anything to help her, because I can’t explain why there’s crazy people in this world that behave like that.”

Kids Don’t Ask “Are We There Yet?” Until Two Hours and 23 Minutes Into a Road Trip

Everyone hates long, boring car rides.  So the joke on road trips is to ask “are we there yet” right away.  But kids don’t say it as a joke.  Here’s how it actually breaks down . . .

Believe it or not, kids get a bad rap.  They actually CAN be pretty patient.  But once that impatience sets in, things get ugly FAST.

A new survey found that the average kid starts asking “Are we there yet?” exactly two hours and 23 minutes into a road trip.

And if the answer is “No” . . . look out.  Because 14 minutes later, they’ll start fighting and arguing with you, or their brothers and sisters.  Here are the other two things they found . . .

The average summer road trip is three hours and 49 minutes.

And 55% of people try to make it without stopping for more than one or two quick bathroom breaks.  (Gov.uk)

Hydration myths debunked, in 5 easy sips

Drink when you’re thirsty. Stop drinking when your thirst is quenched. Obey that one rule and there is no risk of dehydration so says Dr. Stanley Goldfarb, a University of Pennsylvania kidney specialist.

“We are designed to drink enough water to keep ourselves from being thirsty and that does the job just fine,” “Do you need to spend the extra money, do you need to carry around bottles of water all day to make sure that you are never thirsty, to keep staying hydrated beyond any sense that you have any desire to drink? There is absolutely no evidence that is beneficial to you,” he said.

There have been several stores just recently about water consumption but he says these studies were funded, in part, by the bottled water industry, as is much of the research on the health of human hydration.

Here is Goldfarb’s response to some of the enduring hydration myths.

Myth 1: If you wait for thirst, it’s too late

“Do you have to eat before you are hungry, or something terrible is going to happen?” he said. “Everybody knows you become hungry and then you eat and then you are fine. It’s the same way with drinking. You become thirsty, and then you drink, and then you are fine.”

Myth 2: Drinking more water flushes more toxins from the body

The kidneys are good at flushing toxins using the water provided through normal thirst. More water just adds more volume, it doesn’t change the amount of waste that is flushed from the body.

Myth 3: Checking the colour of urine is a good way to monitor hydration

“It is true that as the urine becomes more concentrated it will become slightly darker, because you do put out substances in the urine that do have a yellowish colour, as everyone is familiar with,” he said. “You can be healthy with urine that’s a little bit dark.”

Myth 4: It’s healthy to drink lots of water, whether you’re thirsty or not

“For a healthy individual, there really is no evidence that drinking extra amounts of water on some regular basis will produce any health benefits.

Myth 5: Mild dehydration can impair thinking

It comes down to a question of degree. “A little bit of dehydration to the point where you are a little bit thirsty has been carefully studied, and does not alter reaction time,” Goldfarb said.

Bottom line: for healthy people doing normal things under everyday conditions, nature has already provided the perfect tool, precisely calibrated to replace the fluids that are lost through exertion, perspiration, urination and other excretion.

It’s called “thirst.” Use it, and you can stop sweating about hydration.

Psychologists Figured Out the Three Reasons Your Office Goes Crazy For Free Food

There’s one thing that’s consistent at every office around the world:  When someone puts FREE FOOD in the kitchen, people devour it like they’ve never eaten before, and might never eat again.

So some psychologists looked at WHY office workers lust for free food.  Here are the three main reasons . . .

  1. It goes back to our prehistoric days.  There’s a deep, biological instinct in us to grab food when it’s available.  Because if we don’t, we might starve.  It’s also why we can’t resist the free samples at the grocery store.

  1. We spend our entire lives learning to grab free food that other people are after.  It’s why we try to get as much candy as we can on Halloween, or out of a piñata, and why we make sure we’re first in line to get a piece of birthday cake.

If you’ve ever missed out on the food in one of those situations, something clicks, and tells you to NEVER let it happen again.

  1. It’s a good bonding experience.  Eating with someone builds trust, so it’s a good chance to develop better relationships with your coworkers.

Chris Young Would Like You to Know He’s Not Responsible for Blake and Miranda’s Divorce

There was a rumor that CHRIS YOUNG had something to do with BLAKE SHELTON and MIRANDA LAMBERT’s divorce.  He opened for her three years ago, and they were photographed together a couple times.

Well, Chris set the record straight yesterday with a statement on Twitter.  Quote, “I don’t normally address gossip but in this case I will.  My name has been mentioned as a contributing factor in Blake and Miranda’s divorce.

“That is totally FALSE.  They are both my friends and I would not betray that friendship. Just wanted to clear that up.  Love you guys.”

But it could be someone ELSE.  TMZ says Blake filed for divorce because Miranda has been unfaithful multiple times over the past few months . . . and it wasn’t with Chris or ANY country star.

Supposedly he’s been suspicious for a while, then pulled the trigger when he decided the rumors were true.  But something tells me we’ll be hearing rumors like THAT for a while too.
