Jack, Mary Violet (nee Fowkes) – A resident of Chatham Retirement Resort and formerly of Blenheim and Dover Township, passed away at the Chatham-Kent Hospice on March 16, 2017 in her 99th year.

Born in Aldborough Township – Elgin County. Daughter of the late James and Mary (nee Walker) Fowkes. She was a member of the New St. Andrew’s Presbyterian Church and Ontario Flying Farmers. Beloved wife of the late Gordon Jack. Dear mother of Edna Stirling and her husband Walt of Blenheim, and Ruth Verbrugge and her husband Egbert of Dutton. Grandmother of Brad Stirling and his wife Hilda, Cheryl Stoner and her husband Al, David Verbrugge and his wife Yunding, and Paul Vergbrugge. Great-Grandmother to Ryan and Devin Stirling, Sydra Stoner, Zheming Wang, Hanna Verbrugge and Maya Verbrugge. Sister of the late Bruce Fowkes. Also survived by sister-in-laws Helen Gagner and Twila Fowkes. Will be missed by many nieces and nephews.

Vi had a gentle, kind heart and was known for her homemade butter tarts and keen interest in playing cards.

The family wishes to extend our sincere thanks to Dr. Burgess and the staff at Chatham-Kent Hospice for their excellent care and compassion. We also wish to extend our thanks to the staff of Chatham-Retirement Resort.

Visitation will be held at the McKinlay Funeral Home, 141 Park St. Blenheim, on Saturday March 18, 2017 from 9:30am until the time of Funeral Service at 11am with Pastor Mark Aarssen as Officiant. Burial to follow in the Evergreen Cemetery, Blenheim. Reception to be held in the McKinlay Reception Centre, Blenheim.
