Marilyn Byers (nee Swan) of Oil Springs passed away peacefully surrounded by her family on Friday, August 14th, 2015, in her 75th year.

Beloved wife of Owen Byers for 53 years. Mother of Jeff (Lu) Byers of Pike Road, Alabama, Brian (Jane) Byers of Carlisle, Ontario, and Rebecca (Dave) Debacker of New Dundee, Ontario. Grandmother of Jared, Jordyn, Kiera, Evan, and Dylan. Marilyn is survived by her sisters Donna (Rudy) Krall and Janice (Leonard) Weed, her brother Kevin (Liz) Swan, and her sister-in-law Nancy (Doug) Coleman, and is predeceased by her parents Elmer and Adeline (nee McNally) Swan, her brothers Harold “Cap” and Douglas “Sonny” Swan, and her sister-in-law Dianne (nee Bogaert) Swan. She will be missed by her numerous nieces and nephews. Marilyn was a member of the Order of the Eastern Star and the Rebekah Lodge. Visitors will be received on Monday from 2 to 4 and 7 to 9 p.m. at the NEEDHAM-JAY FUNERAL HOME, Petrolia, where a funeral service to celebrate Marilyn’s life will be held on Tuesday, August 18, 2015 at 11:00 a.m. OES Britannia Chapter #34 will conduct a memorial service on Monday evening at 6:30 p.m., followed by a Rebekah Lodge memorial service at 6:45 p.m. Interment in Oil Springs Cemetery.
