Woman Thinks Keith Urban is “Down On His Luck”
A case of mistaken identity landed a New Jersey woman an introduction to Keith Urban while at a convenience store recently.
Retired school teacher Ruth Reed says she tries to make a habit of helping customers at the Wawa gas station in Medford pay for their groceries and such when they seem to need a helping hand. The guy in line in front of her on Friday, August 3rd was short on cash to pay for his coffee and he asked the woman with him for a few dollars. Reed overheard the conversation and stepped in to pay for his purchases. The guy thanked her and told her his name was just Keith. She responded by telling him he looked a lot like Keith Urban, and the superstar came clean.
My favorite story of the day is how my 3rd grade teacher thought @KeithUrban was down on his luck and couldn’t pay for his wawa snacks so she bought them for him. What an angel. pic.twitter.com/mJccVOQWtp

Reed told a local CBS affiliate,
“I didn’t know it was Keith Urban. I didn’t think he had enough money to pay for his things so I said I would pay for it . . . When he told me who he was, I didn’t believe him!” Reed had to confirm Urban’s identity with his bodyguard before she believed him. She said, “It was then I realized what an idiot I was.”
Urban was passing through town on his Graffiti U tour where he performed in Camden later that night.
