Country Artists Excited For Grammys
Little Big Town heads to New York City this week for a couple of big events, not the least of which is the 60th annual Grammy Awards.
In addition to being one of the few country acts performing during the live broadcast, LBT is up for two awards — Best Country Duo/Group Performance for their chart-topping hit, “Better Man,” and Best Country Album for The Breaker.
Group member Kimberly Schlapman explains why the Album nomination is so important.
“This is my favorite record we’ve ever made. It was like from our souls, and the fact that it’s been nominated, it means that much and it’s made that much of an effect on people means an incredible amount to us.”
Meanwhile, to say Thomas Rhett was shocked when he got the news that his latest album, Life Changes, was nominated for Country Album of the Year at this year’s Grammy Awards would be an understatement.
“I’m blown away to be nominated for a Grammy, especially be nominated for Country Album of the Year, because there’s a lot of really great albums that come out every year and we put so much hard work and time in the studio to this record, that to be nominated for a Grammy is definitely a massive cherry on top to a already incredible year. You know, this record has a lot of personal stuff on it and I think that’s why I’m so proud of it. And went in a couple different directions that I think we never in a million years thought we’d go and it’s just been amazing to see how awesome it’s been accepted by country radio, and our fans and can’t wait to see how it shakes out at the Grammys.”
The Grammy Awards airs live from Madison Square Garden on Sunday, January 28th on CBS.
