Jason Aldean Opens SNL
Jason Aldean made his first public appearance in the wake of the Las Vegas tragedy on Saturday, October 7th with a surprise appearance on Saturday Night Live. A somber Jason and his band took the stage to open the show with the superstar offering these words:
“I’m Jason Aldean. This week we witnessed one of the worst tragedies in American history. Like everyone, I’m struggling to understand what happened that night, and how to pick up the pieces and start to heal. So many people are hurting and they’re our children, parents, brothers, sisters, friends. They’re all part of our family. I want to say to them, we hurt for you and we hurt with you. You can be sure we’re going to walk through these tough times together, every step of the way, because when America is at its best, our bond and our spirit, it’s unbreakable.”
He and the band then launched into a version of the late Tom Petty’s “I Won’t Back Down.”
On Sunday, October 8th, Jason and his wife, Brittany, returned to Las Vegas to visit with some of those wounded in the shooting. Brittany shared a photo of herself and Jason embracing with the Mandalay Bay Resort & Casino in the background.
Feels surreal being back in Vegas today. Visiting some of the strongest people we have ever met… fighting the toughest battle of them all… for their lives. You have helped us try to begin the healing process by seeing the strength each one of you have. Thank you for today. We will never forget. #vegasstrong 🙌🏼
Jason is scheduled to resume his They Don’t Know tour this week after canceling scheduled shows over the weekend out of respect to the victims of the Route 91 Harvest Festival shooting. He is set to take the stage on Thursday, October 12th in Tulsa, OK.
