Chris Stapleton had the privilege of opening up a couple of shows for Tom Petty and The Heartbreakers over the summer. As a huge fan of the rocker’s, Chris said he was thrilled to have the opportunities.

“I’m a huge Tom Petty fan, and he’s one of my all-time favorites and the Wildflowers album, in particular, is possibly my favorite record of all-time. This is something his booking agents and my guys have been working on for a time, or so they told me. And I’ just like, ‘Okay, yeah, sure I’m gonna go play with Tom Petty. That sounds great. Two thumbs up.’ And they came up with to play Wrigley and the Summerfest up in Milwaukee, and why wouldn’t we do that? (laughs) I buy tickets to Tom Petty, so I’d certainly be more than happy to be on a bill with him.”

Chris opened two shows for Petty — June 29th at Wrigley Field in Chicago and at Summerfest in Milwaukee, Wisconsin on July 5th. Petty passed away Monday night after he was found in cardiac arrest at his home in Malibu.
