CMA Fest Special on TV Tonight
Thomas Rhett and Kelsea Ballerini are the hosts of the ABC-TV special CMA Fest: The Music Event of Summer. They will navigate fans through the three hour special, which features performances from country music’s biggest stars, along with behind-the-scenes happenings and fan favorite moments. The show will air on Wednesday, August 16th, beginning at 8 pm.
This is Thomas’ second year to co-host the CMA Fest TV special so he knows how it goes, but he admits that he and Kelsea had a few embarassing moments along the way
“I mean, probably me and Kelsea sitting in the dressing room trying to figure out what we were gonna ask in our interviews was pretty embarassing — like, ‘What are we gonna ask Blake Shelton that he hasn’t been asked a hundred times today — but I think it was a huge learning process for us. Kelsea’s hosted a TV show. I did this same thing with Brett Eldredge last year so I had a little bit of experience with it but this year was different cause we did it all extremely live, like we were there every night from seven o’clock til two o’clock in the morning watching everything live, doing everything to the camera live, and reading a teleprompter might not seem very hard, but when you have to do it once in your first try with 70,000 people watching you it’s a bit difficult, but she is a great co-host and she has become a really, really great friend of mine and Lauren’s as well so (I) couldn’t have asked to do it with somebody cooler.”
Thomas will mark the September 8th release of his third studio album, called Life Changes, with Live From The B-Stage, a special album release experience for fans. All in one day, he will return to Chicago, Boston and Philadelphia to perform some of the new music from the album along with never-before-heard stories behind the songs. Inspired by the B-stage moment in his live show, fans can purchase limited pre-sale album packages for each city at hometeamtour.com which includes a physical and digital copy of Life Changes, along with an exclusive t-shirt plus a spot on Thomas’ guest list.
“I can’t wait to get back in these cities and these venues, with the fans who have really impacted my career and life. Joe’s in Chicago was one of the first places I ever sold out as a headliner, and Boston and Philly were also two markets we built from the ground up, and those fans have been with me since the beginning. It’s going to be really cool to be back in these cities and share this new music with the fans for the first time.”
