Canaan Smith and Florida Georgia Line members Tyler Hubbard and Brian Kelley all attended Nashville’s Belmont University together and it was there they became fast friends. The guys shared a passion for music and songwriting, and Canaan says it even got into some high jinx together.

“We were just regular dudes. (We) didn’t like school that much, but we did like hanging out and writing songs and getting into trouble. We went naked wakeboarding in the summertime (laughs), and we played out together and we played shows and all that stuff together. We still write together. Me and Brian and Tyler, all three, we actually just wrote a song with Cole (Swindell) that he just cut for his new album and I hope it makes the final cut cause it’s a great song, so, yeah, we’re still collaborating as much as we can. We’re both super busy also so it’s been probably a couple months since we’ve been in the room writing together, but my wife and I went out to Tyler’s house the other night to have dinner with him and Hayley, and I’ll be in his wedding July 1st as a groomsman so we’re definitely still buddies.”

Canaan is racing up the charts with his debut single, “Love You Like That.” His debut album, Bronco, will be in stores on Tuesday, June 23rd.¬†Canaan is out on Dierks Bentley’s Sounds of Summer tour.
