A woman near St. Louis had to call 911 last week after her robot vacuum tried to eat her tiny dog.  Its tail got stuck, and she couldn’t get it out, but cops eventually did.  She says the vacuum stopped working, and she didn’t understand why at first.

Everyone has a breaking point when it comes to climate change, and this just might be it for a LOT of people. There’s speculation right now that we could have a FRENCH FRY SHORTAGE in this country after the unseasonably cold, wet weather damaged potato crops in Idaho, North Dakota, Minnesota, and some parts of Canada.

That most likely means fewer potatoes . . . and higher prices as a result.

ENTERTAINMENT

The official “Game of Thrones” Twitter account has unveiled the secret it has been teasing for the last while — the Blu-ray and DVD release of the whole series. Many fans were left disappointed by the news, because the box sets had actually already been announced. Game of Thrones somehow took over social media all over again last week with a simple three-word tweet: “Winter is coming.” The ominous catch phrase had many fans hoping for news on the prequel series, the books or some other loose end for the franchise, but that was not the case.

The late Robin Williams’ house on San Francisco Bay has just hit the market. Located in ritzy Tiburon area, the 6,517-square-foot home sits on some of the country’s priciest real estate, and that would explain the $7.25 million price tag.  With water views from almost every room, the sprawling 6-bedroom, 6.5 bath home built in 1987 definitely looks celebrity worthy. Williams, who passed away on August 11, 2014, originally hailed from Chicago. He was a long-time San Francisco resident, living for many years in the exclusive Sea Cliff neighborhood.

GOOD NEWS

Back in 2017, a family in Greenville, South Carolina lost a backpack.  And a homeless guy named Ben Williams found it.

He was addicted to drugs at that point and pretty desperate.  But he still wanted to do the right thing.  So he rode his bike and walked SEVEN MILES just to return it.

Shortly after that, he ended up getting arrested for drugs and was headed to jail.  But the family he helped found out about it and volunteered to SPONSOR him.

Because of that, his judge had him go through addiction counseling.  Meaning he could avoid jail as long as he stayed clean.

And now two years later, he just GRADUATED from that program.

He says the whole thing has been like a “rebirth,” and he’s excited about his future now.  His next goal is to become an addiction recovery coach, so he can pay it forward and help other people get clean.

Interesting Behind-The-Scenes Facts from Christmas Movies

Buzzfeed put together a list of 29 supposedly “shocking” behind-the-scenes facts from Christmas movies.  They’re not necessarily all that shocking, but several of them are pretty interesting.  Here are the highlights . . .

  1. The shower scene in “Elf”wasn’t in the original script.  It was added after director Jon Favreau learned that ZOOEY DESCHANEL was a good singer.

  1. Also, the fight between WILL FERRELLand the fake Santa could only be done once, because the department store Christmas decorations took WEEKS to make.

  1. Because BRUCE WILLIShad to do a lot of things barefoot in “Die Hard”, including walking on broken glass, he actually wore fake rubber feet, which you can actually SEE if you look hard enough.

  1.  In “A Christmas Story”, Flick’s tongue was suctioned by a hidden vacuum to make it look like it was stuck to the pole.

  1. Before JIM CARREYgot the lead in “How the Grinch Stole Christmas”EDDIE MURPHY and JACK NICHOLSON were considered for the part.

  1. “It’s a Wonderful Life”was shot in the SUMMER of 1946, and sometimes they had to shut down production because of the heat.

  1. EMMA THOMPSONwore a fat suit in “Love Actually”.

  1. In “Home Alone”, the photo of Buzz’s “girlfriend” is actually a picture of a BOY in a wig.

  1. Disney had a strict policy against hiring ex-cons, but they made an exception so that TIM ALLENcould star in “The Santa Clause” in 1994.  (And “Toy Story” the following year.)

  1. And on “The Santa Clause 2”, Tim stayed in character around the child actors, because some of them believed he really WAS Santa.

The Christmas classic, “National Lampoon’s Christmas Vacation” celebrates its 30th anniversary this week (It opened December 1, 1989).  To celebrate, here are seven of the best scenes, in 60 seconds or less.

CHOCOLATE: IS THERE ANYTHING IT CAN’T DO?
Good news for people who love chocolate. And by people who love chocolate, I mean everyone.

According to a new report, chocolate is every bit as effective in soothing a cough as codeine or any other pharmaceutical solution. Professor Alyn Morice, a respected authority on all things related to coughs and medicine, wrote in the Daily Mail that chocolate can soothe a cough better than codeine syrup by forming a sticky coating that protects the nerve endings in your throat that cause you to cough.

Melted chocolate also allows cough-supressing ingredients naturally present in cocoa to help calm your throat nerves.

But here’s the weird thing: Drinking hot chocolate doesn’t have the same cough suppressing effect, because the diluted chocolate solution doesn’t stay in contact long enough with the nerves in your throat.

You’re much better off sucking on a piece of chocolate, and letting it slowly melt, and coat your throat.
