Another study has found that smoking really does make you age faster and look older.
The study says in addition to other issues it makes your skin dry, sallow and more wrinkled due to a loss of elasticity caused by smoke; you may also develop tell-tale wrinkles around your mouth caused by puckering. Depending on when you start smoking, these symptoms can set in during your early 30s.
They also found that teen tobacco use has been climbing since 2018 as vaping has grown in popularity.

It’s hard to imagine JUST how many horribly awkward conversations this caused.
Apparently, there was a bug that affected text messaging so some messages that were sent back in February just finally went out on Wednesday.
February 14th, specifically.
That’s right: A bunch of people didn’t get the text messages that were sent to them on VALENTINE’S DAY until yesterday. There were also texts from some other days as well, but I feel like it’s the Valentine’s Day ones that will cause the most problems.
And there are already posts on social media about people who got texts from their exes . . . found out texts went to their bosses or clients in the middle of the night . . . and even got texts from relatives and friends who’ve passed away since February.
The carriers aren’t exactly sure why this happened. Sprint says it was because of a maintenance update . . . T-Mobile is blaming it on a third-party vendor . . . and Verizon and AT&T haven’t commented.

Exercise-Seniors-Dementia
This could have widespread implications for treating dementia. A new study suggests intense, heart-pumping workouts can improve memory in older adults.
Researchers at Hamilton’s McMaster University studied the impact of exercise on 64 sedentary people between the ages of 60 and 88.
Those who pushed their heart rates to 90 percent on a treadmill improved their memory by up to 30 percent.
Those who only pushed their heart rate to 70 percent, or just stretched, saw no improvement.

GOOD NEWS
Mike Nowacki is a SWAT team medic in Chicago. He’s been a cop for about 19 years. And he had a big day on Sunday when he ran a 15K race in full SWAT gear . . . about nine miles with 50 pounds of stuff on. But that’s just the beginning . . .
About 500 feet from the finish line, he heard someone yelling for help. It turned out a woman had a heart attack and collapsed.
So with all his gear on, he ran over and did CPR with an off-duty firefighter who also jumped in to help. And they kept her alive until EMTs got there.
The paramedics got her to a hospital, and she survived. Her doctors say she should make a full recovery.
But that’s not the end of the story. Because going into the race, Mike was secretly planning to PROPOSE to his girlfriend Erin at the finish line, who’s also a cop.
She was on duty working the event. And she heard Mike say over the radio that he was doing CPR. So she knew what was going on. But she didn’t know about the proposal until he crossed the finish line and got down on one knee.
She actually thought he was hurt at first. Then she realized what was happening, and now they’re engaged.

☞ Serviette — Why use a napkin when you can use something as fancy-sounding as a serviette?
☞ Pencil crayons – It is a distinctly Canadian term for colored pencils.

Does Your Significant Other Have “Selective Hearing”?
There’s an actual medical condition called “selective hearing” where people only hear one specific source of noise and block out everything else.
But that’s probably not what YOU think of when I say “selective hearing.” You probably think about your significant other’s remarkable ability to only hear SOME of the stuff you say . . . and conveniently ignore the rest.
And according to a new survey, seven out of 10 people say they believe their significant other has THAT kind of selective hearing.
Men “don’t hear” something their partner says at least once a day . . . for a total of 388 times a year. And women “don’t hear” something their partner says almost every day . . . for a total of 339 times a year.
But we’re willing to give our partners the benefit of the doubt . . . more than half think their significant other might have some kind of actual hearing issues.

Microsoft Tried a Four-Day Work Week . . . and Productivity Skyrocketed
Last August, Microsoft Japan decided to test what would happen if they had their employees work four days a week instead of five. So they let all 2,300 of their employees have Fridays off for the month.
And the result was . . . a huge success. Productivity went up 40%, so even though people were working for less time, they were getting more done.
And that wasn’t the only way it was good for Microsoft.
People took 25% fewer vacation days than normal because they were already getting those Fridays off . . . they printed 59% fewer sheets of paper . . . and they used 23% less electricity.
Microsoft Japan says they’re planning to do the four-day work weeks again next summer . . . and maybe at some other times, too.

The Raiders played their last prime-time game in Oakland last night, since they’re moving to Las Vegas next year. They won in dramatic fashion. With only 1:06 left in the game, Oakland scored a go-ahead touchdown, but missed the extra point, which gave the Chargers an opportunity to get into field goal range for a win. But L.A. quarterback Philip Rivers threw an interception and the Raiders beat the Chargers, 26 – 24. Here’s the final call. (The Raiders LAST game in Oakland will be December 15 vs Jacksonville.)

AIRPLANE WATER
A new study found you really shouldn’t go anywhere near the WATER on planes.
The researchers found that only three of the 11 major airlines in the U.S. have water onboard their planes that’s safe to drink: Alaska, Allegiant, and Hawaiian.
The two airlines with the worst water are JetBlue and Spirit.
They all serve bottled water to drink . . . but that’s not the only time you come into contact with water on a flight.
So the people behind the study say you should avoid drinking the coffee or tea on board . . . and instead of washing your hands in the airplane bathroom, use hand sanitizer.

LUKE COMBS’ NEW ALBUM IN STORES NOW
Luke Combs‘ new album, What You See Is What You Get, arrives in stores and at all digital retailers today (Friday, Nov. 8th). The project features 17 songs, including the five tracks previously released on The Prequel EP earlier this summer.
Luke says the themes featured on What You See Is What You Get represent all sides of Luke, including his more emotional side which isn’t always visible. [“I don’t wake up everyday and go, ‘I’m a big time famous country guy and that’s it.’ I am who I am and I get sad about stuff and I have a good time and I reminisce on high school even though I’m playing Red Rocks. You know what I mean? Like, those things happen and I’m not ashamed of any of that and I don’t think that anybody should be, whatever that means for you. As long as you’re doing what makes you happy . . . I don’t understand why people are so concerned with what other people view them as, and I think the title ‘What You See Is What You Get’ is saying that it is that but it’s also not that at the same time.”]
Luke is nominated for three awards at next week’s 2019 CMA Awards, on ABC from Nashville’s Bridgestone Arena on Wednesday, November 13th at 8 p.m. ET.
CARRIE UNDERWOOD LEADS ALL-FEMALE OPENING NUMBER AT CMA AWARDS
Women in Country Music will unite for a historic opening performance at next week’s 53rd Annual CMA Awards. The number, led by Carrie Underwood, Reba McEntire and Dolly Parton, will also feature Terri Clark, Sara Evans, Crystal Gayle, The Highwomen (comprised of Brandi Carlile, Natalie Hemby, Maren Morris and Amanda Shires), Martina McBride, Jennifer Nettles, Tanya Tucker and Gretchen Wilson, each performing iconic Country songs for a decades-spanning medley never before seen.
The CMA Awards will also feature an additional performance from Kelsea Ballerini, joined by fellow breakthrough artists Lindsay Ell, Maddie & Tae, Ashley McBryde, Carly Pearce and Runaway June. They will be performing a CMA Song of the Year and CMA Single of the Year featuring a special appearance by Little Big Town.

BRANTLEY GILBERT’S ‘REJECTION ISSUES’ GOT IN THE WAY OF ASKING LINDSAY ELL TO RECORD DUET
When Lindsay Ell said yes to Brantley Gilbert‘s label head, Scott Borchetta‘s, request that she join Brantley on the duet “What Happens in a Small Town,” little did she know she’d be heading toward her first Number One hit. Lindsay jumped on the chance to record with Brantley, but as they tell us, Brantley was too afraid to ask for the favor himself: [“I mean, I remember getting that call from Scott and I was just so grateful and honored, really, that you’d asked me and you guys wanted me to be a part of this song. (Brantley) And she killed it. And I would have called myself, but I was afraid she’d say no. (Lindsay) I wouldn’t have said no, Brantley! Your mom could have called me, and I would have said yes. (Brantley) I have rejection issues.”]
Brantley recorded his part first, but he wasn’t able to be in the studio with Lindsay when she recorded her part, so he called, texted and Facetimed into the studio with producer Dann Huff.
