The Canadian Food Inspection Agency has issued a recall for Eat Smart brand Sweet Kale Vegetable Salad Bag Kits in the 340-gram packages.
The agency says the products may be unsafe due to possible Listeria contamination.
Products with a best before date of Feb. 16 2019 may contain the harmful bacteria.
Consumers who bought the salad bag kits are advised to throw them out or return them to the store where they were purchased.

A 27-year-old guy posing as a cop tried to pull someone over in Florida on Wednesday . . . but it happened to be the Miami-Dade County Commissioner, who used to be a cop. He realized something was up, and flagged down a real cop, who pulled the guy over. Here’s the Commissioner talking about how it went down.

A Guy Pretended to Get Stood Up on Valentine’s Day
There’s a 27-year-old guy named Stephen Bonser in the D.C. area, and he came up with a convoluted scheme to get a free meal on Valentine’s Day.
He went to an Outback Steakhouse on Valentine’s Day and PRETENDED he got stood up . . . to see if someone would buy him dinner.
He dressed up, ordered a glass of wine for his “date,” and then sat there for HOURS looking sad. And he live tweeted the whole thing, of course.
Well . . . it WORKED. A couple at the bar bought him his dinner including a steak, a side of mac and cheese, and some drinks.
Stephen felt guilty enough about the scam that he wound up giving his waiter a $20 tip and making a $50 donation to the ACLU, I guess to balance out his karma.
Outback found out about what he did the next day, and they LIKED the stunt . . . they even tweeted to him that he could bring a REAL date one day and they’d cover the meal.

TODAY’S GOOD NEWS
A couple locked their keys in their SUV outside a courthouse in New Port Richey, Florida last Thursday, near Tampa. And their one-year-old daughter was inside.
There were a bunch of cops around. And they could have broken a window if they’d really needed to. So she was never in any real danger.
But apparently none of the cops had a slim jim to get the doors open. Or they couldn’t reach the automatic door-lock button with one.
But five prison inmates were on work release nearby, fixing a median in the road. And one of them just happened to have some experience breaking into cars.
Another person in the parking lot had a coat hanger in their car. And the inmate was able to use it to get the doors open while the cops stood there and supervised. So yes, he got permission first.
In the end, the little girl was only locked inside for about five minutes. And her mom got the whole thing on video.

Five Foods That Can Fight Off a Cold
You’ve heard the term “feed a cold, starve a fever” before. But the “starve a fever” part isn’t really good advice. Cutting calories when you’re sick MIGHT actually make it HARDER for your body to fight off a virus.
The “feed a cold” part is okay though, especially if you eat THIS stuff. Here are five foods that can help with cold and flu symptoms. And they’re all backed by science . . .
- Oysters. They have tons of zinc, which is also an active ingredient in a lot of cold medicines, like Zicam.
- Garlic. No one’s going to be kissing you anyway, so load up. Garlic blocks enzymes involved in bacterial and viral infections. Plus, it helps your immune cells. If you’re worried about bad breath, pills with garlic extract also work.
- Almonds. Micronutrients in the outer skin can help you fight off a cold by boosting the sensitivity of your white blood cells.
- Kiwi. A study a few years ago had one group of people eat kiwi while they were sick, while another group ate bananas. And the kiwi group’s symptoms went away up to four days faster.
- Chicken Soup. Yes, it really does work. It might be thanks to an immune-boosting compound in chicken called carnosine. (Pronounced CAR-no-seen.) Studies have also shown it helps with mucus, and can clear your nose if you’re stuffed up.

COFFEE TIME:
What time of day do you pour your first cup? For most of us, it happens just about as soon as we can arrange it. But not so fast.
Science shows that early mornings are not the most effective time for you to enjoy the benefits that a coffee provides.
The optimal time to drink coffee is when your brain can use the caffeine most efficiently.
In fact, drinking coffee in the early morning undermines its effectiveness, and your body builds up a tolerance more quickly. It has to do with hormones and your circadian rhythm and other things that would be really hard to explain. even if I did understand it.
So we’ll have to trust the scientists on this when they say that for most people to get the most out of their daily jolt (or jolts) of caffeine, they should pour it between 10:00am-12noon or 2:00-5:00pm.

✗ You Lose Most of Your Heat from Your Head: Where your body loses heat is closely related to surface area, and the head has only about 9 percent of the body’s surface area. But on the other hand, if the rest of you is all covered up and your head isn’t, then you DO lose most of your heat from your head! (I can confirm that you lose most of your HAIR from your head, however…)
✗ To Warm Up, Sip Coffee or Brandy: Caffeine and alcohol actually hinder the body’s ability to produce heat. They can also cause your core temperature to drop. Instead, drink warm water, or something with sugar. (Can I have brandy if I put sugar in it?)
✗ If You Go Out in the Cold, You’ll Catch a Cold: You catch cold from a virus, not from cold temperatures. (Now stop listening to old wives!)
✗ Rub Your Fingers or Toes to Warm Them: Wiggle them instead. If exposed skin (including that of your face and ears) becomes cold, cover it with a warm hand until it feels better. Rubbing can cause tissue damage.
✗ Try to Resist Shivering: Shivering means that your body is trying to warm up, and that’s good. In fact, shivering can triple your body’s heat production.
✗ If I’m Feeling Cold, You Must Be Feeling It Too: Age, gender, fitness level, acclimatization all determine when you “feel” cold. And it’s been proven that women generally feel cold before men do, possibly because they have less heat-generating ability.

MIRANDA LAMBERT TIES THE KNOT!
Just days after making national headlines for dumping a salad on a fellow diner at a Nashville area restaurant, Miranda Lambert is all the buzz again as she announces her recent surprise wedding to NYPD officer Brendan McLoughlin.
Details are still coming out but it turns out they only just met three months ago, back on November 2nd.
That was the day the PISTOL ANNIES were on “Good Morning America”. That night they did a concert at a place called The Town Hall. Both are in the South Midtown Precinct where Brendan works, and where he often does crowd control.
According to reports, the couple tied the knot in late January, but Miranda took the occasion of Valentine’s Day to share the big news on social media on Saturday (February 16th). She shared a couple of pictures from their wedding writing, “In honor of Valentine’s Day I wanted to share some news. I met the love of my life. And we got hitched!”
Miranda, 35, reportedly met Brendan, 28, late last year. He welcomed a baby in November, the result of a previous relationship.
One MORE bit of Miranda Lambert news . . . TMZ has the 911 audio from last week’s restaurant incident, and there are some interesting details. Turns out she was more aggressive than we thought.
During the call an employee said, quote,” Miranda’s trying to hit people and she’s flipping plates over on them.”
And of course, the “family friend” mentioned in the audio has to be Brendan. The employee tells the dispatcher that he’s an out-of-state cop, and she thinks he’s Miranda’s boyfriend.
BRETT YOUNG PERFORMS ON ‘THE BACHELOR’
Brett Young appeared on last night’s episode of ABC’s The Bachelor. His performance of his hit single “Here Tonight” was recently recorded at the iconic Red Rocks Amphitheatre in Denver.
Brett is a regular viewer of The Bachelor thanks to his wife, and a fan of this season’s “bachelor” Colton Underwood. [“So excited to be part of the show, a show that has had that much success for that many years and the ratings that they have. I actually really do like The Bachelor that they have this year. I think I like what he stands for and I like that he seems like a guy’s guy, you know a football player with good morals. And so it’s a cool show to be a part of and we’re excited about it.]

LINDSAY ELL DISHES ON WRITING WITH BABYFACE – (02/19/2019)
Lindsay Ell is working on her next studio album, the followup to her 2017 release, The Project. She’s been writing as much as possible, even collaborating with famed singer, songwriter and producer Babyface.
Lindsay tells us exclusively that she and Babyface first met backstage at CMA Music Fest in Nashville last June. There’s no word yet on when Lindsay plans to release new music.
In the meantime, she’s climbing the charts with “What Happens In A Small Town,” a duet with Brantley Gilbert featured on his upcoming album.

The Sailor from the Most Famous World War II Kiss Has Died
One of the most iconic photos in history is the one of the sailor kissing a woman in Times Square to celebrate the end of World War 2 in 1945. Sadly, that sailor died on Sunday. Today would have been his 96th birthday.
His name was GEORGE MENDONSA, and he was on leave at the time, after a stint in the Pacific. He was actually on a first date with one Rita Petry . . . who would later become his WIFE . . . when the news broke that the war was over.
Everyone started drinking and celebrating in the streets. That’s when he saw
GRETA FRIEDMAN, who he thought was a nurse. In an interview a few years ago, George said, quote, “We’re all drinking and raising hell . . . it was just plain instinct, I guess. I just grabbed her.”
His date didn’t even care. She said, quote, “I was in the background, grinning like a mutt. It didn’t matter to me.” They married in 1946, and were together until his death.
Greta didn’t mind either. She said, quote, “Suddenly, I was grabbed by a sailor. It wasn’t that much of a kiss. It was more of a jubilant act that he didn’t have to go back.”
The girl from the photo died in 2016. She was 92.
