Health Canada is recalling certain U.S. cauliflower, red and green lettuce products sold across the country including in Ontario, Prince Edward Island, Nova Scotia, and New Brunswick. According to the Canada Food Inspection Agency, certain products from Adam Bros. Family Farms, a farm in California, could be contaminated with E. coli bacteria.

The cauliflower products are clearly labelled with “Adam Brothers Family Farms” but the lettuce produce are not. Health Canada is urging consumers unsure whether they have affected produce to contact their retailer for more information.

Recalled products should be thrown away or returned to the store where they were purchased.

A woman in Nova Scotia accidentally shipped her one-year-old cat Baloo in the mail a couple weeks ago.  She was taping up some boxes when he climbed in, and got sent from Nova Scotia to Montreal.  He survived, and clawed his way out of the box while he was in the back of the shipping truck.  Volunteers drove him 17 hours back to Nova Scotia on Saturday.

ENTERTAINMENT

The animated movie “Spider-Man: Into the Spider-Verse” CRUISED to a box office win, earning $35.4 million in its first weekend.  Clint Eastwood’s crime drama “The Mule” was the runner-up, debuting with $17.2 million.

Meanwhile, “Mortal Engines” opened at #5 at the box office, making $7.5 million.  There’s just one problem with that:  According to reports, it cost well over $100 million to make.

That makes it a colossal bust, because it’s already opened internationally, and has only made $42 million worldwide.  So barring a wild surge of excitement for “Mortal Engines” over the next few weeks, it’s going to lose a LOT of money.

Former “Incredible Hulk” star LOU FERRIGNO went in for a pneumonia vaccination last week, and the shot itself ended up sending him to the hospital.

He posted a photo of himself hooked up to an I.V., and said, quote, “Went in for a pneumonia shot and landed up here with fluid in my bicep.

“I’ll be okay, but it’s important that you keep an eye on who’s giving the shot, and make sure they not only swab the spot correctly but that you watch the needle come out of the package.”

Obviously, it sounds like someone botched the shot, but it’s unclear exactly what happened.

TODAY IS……………….

2017 [01] “Star Wars: The Last Jedi” takes more than $450m worldwide in its opening weekend, the 2nd largest opening in North America ($220m)

RUNNING DOWN DREAM:
A 64-year-old man has set a record for running the length of his country – New Zealand.

18 days after Perry Newburn began his journey at Cape Reinga, he arrived at Stirling Pt, Bluff, breaking a long- standing record with just a few minutes to spare.  It was no easy feat: Newburn battled extreme weather, from heat to torrential rain and flooding.

It took him just over 18 days to cover the 2113km.  To do so, he had to run the equivalent of about three marathons a day every day for nearly three weeks, without a single day of rest.

And what’s more amazing is how he fueled himself:  During his trip, he frequently ate at McDonald’s, loading up on hash browns and chocolate milkshakes.  And he paced himself in his head, shunning modern GPS devices.

The run was done to raise funds for the Running on the Spectrum charity, which helps children with autism.

TODAY’S GOOD NEWS

A duplex near Milwaukee caught fire around 12:15 in the morning on Monday while a woman and her two kids were inside sleeping.

She woke up when she heard a loud POPPING sound, then saw flames in the living room.  So she tried to put the fire out but couldn’t, and suffered burns to her arms.

It sounds like she might have health issues, because the fire started near an oxygen tank.  But luckily no one died, because her 15-year-old son saved EVERYONE.

First, he got his 11-year-old sister out.  Then he ran BACK inside for his mom, and also called 911.

But he still wasn’t done.  Because after they were both out, he ran into the other apartment in their duplex and saved his AUNT, who’s legally blind.

Firefighters say there must have been quite a bit of smoke when he did it, and the fire was really hot.  So he showed a lot of bravery running back in.  Not once, but twice.

We Spend Nine Full Days a Year in a Food Coma . . Plus the Top Foods That Cause One

According to a new study, the average person spends 213 hours a year in a FOOD COMA.  That’s nine ENTIRE days.

After we eat a super heavy meal with lots of meat and carbs, it takes an average of one hour and 22 minutes before we feel sharp and ready to work or, really, do anything.

And we have about two or three of those meals every week.

The most common foods that knock us out are:  Burgers . . . pizza . . . mashed potatoes . . . burritos . . . fries . . . hot dogs . . . tacos . . . cheese . . . and potato chips.
