Pickle Sliders and Pizza Ice Cream

Published On June 27, 2017 | By Carrie Buchanan | Carrie Buchanan

I do love pickles but I never would have created the idea of a pickle slider on my own.  The internet can be pretty amazing. My favourite pickle is the gherkin, and I love them cut up into slices on a Triscuit cracker, with mayo and cheddar cheese – melted in the oven.  It’s something my mom used to make, and even though pretty much everyone I know thinks I’m crazy, I absolutely LOVE them!

There is no denying pickles are delicious.  But who knew you could make them into a slider?

This recipe pretty much has it all.  Except for the bun. Which is really great if you’re cutting carbs!

Then there’s also this pizza flavoured ice cream.  Say what?  Ick. That’s my first thought.

Little Baby’s Ice Cream, in Philadelphia, Pennsylvania, has created this new flavour.  Pizza ice cream is made with tomato, basil, garlic, salt, and oregano. If that sounds a little strange, how about their sushi ice cream? Again.  Ick.  Double ick.

They have other wacky creations on their menu including Earl Grey Sriracha (made with Sriracha and black tea). Then there’s the Rose Pistachio which blends rosewater and crushed pistachios. Or, maybe you’d like to try the Irish Potato made with coconut cinnamon sugar balls and salty potato chips? Do you like bagels? Try the Everything Bagel made with flavored with pieces of everything bagels, dried onion pieces, garlic powder, onion powder, kosher salt, sesame seeds, poppy seeds.

Little Baby’s is a true American success story.

The company began as nothing more than a “multimedia” tricycle, a mobile food cart that played music and offered fun, wacky flavors of ice cream (including non-dairy options). But, it wasn’t long before their ice cream gained a massive following. Now they have two brick-and-mortar locations, as well as “pop-ups” at other locations.

And, of course, Little Baby’s also has a fleet of four totally custom, ice cream tricycles, which you can find around the city or even order for your own birthday party!
