Some students at a school in Potter, Nebraska got sick last week after they ate the chili in the school cafeteria.
And what was in that chili? KANGAROO MEAT.
Not by accident, either. The school’s head cook says he ordered kangaroo meat from their food distributor Sysco because it’s LEAN and nutritious.
Now, they’re pretty sure the meat wasn’t TAINTED and I guess there’s a chance it ISN’T what made the kids sick . . . but it really seems like there has to be a connection there. Their stomachs just weren’t ready to handle kangaroo.
And the school FIRED the head cook earlier this week so . . . yeah. The school also sent a letter to parents on Wednesday promising they would never, quote, “Be serving food of this nature again. Period.”

An ad on Craigslist by a man known as Emilio says he is hoping to hunt down a 2018 Porsche GT2 RS. That’s actually a bit more difficult than it might initially sound, thanks in no small part to the fact that only 1,000 of the cars were made, and they were all allegedly pre-sold before Porsche even publicly announced the car’s existence.
He’s offering up a private island valued at $555,000. The Porsche in question runs just shy of $300,000, which might sound like an incredibly good trade opportunity for any of the 1,000 owners who might want their own island.
The island measures just three acres, and its one of many small chunks of land strewn along a huge stretch of the west coast of Florida. There’s not much actually on the island aside from grass, a small wooded area, and a beachfront.

“Halloween” raked in $77.5 million to win the box office this weekend. That’s not only the biggest debut of all the “Halloween” movies; it’s also the biggest opening in history for a movie with a female lead over 55 years old. JAMIE LEE CURTIS turns 60 next month.
“A Star Is Born” was a distant second, making $19.3 million in its third week.
“Venom”, $18.1 million, was third.
If you played the Lotto Max game Friday night and bought your ticket in the London area, you may want to check it.
OLG says one of seven $1-million Maxmillions tickets was sold in London.
A total of 16 Maxmillions winners from Friday were sold across Ontario, with prizes ranging from $250,000 to a million. These winning tickets come as OLG prepares to offer a record payout in next Friday’s Lotto Max draw, with $115-million in prizes up for grabs.

TODAY’S GOOD NEWS
A Krispy Kreme van was reported stolen in Lake City, Florida on Tuesday.
Then cops found it a few hours later, about 200 miles away in Clearwater, Florida.
They called the manager of the store, and the van was still loaded with dozens of fresh donuts. But they would have been stale by the time they got them all back.
So the manager told police to KEEP them. Which is like a cop’s dream if you believe that old cliché.
But then instead of eating them all, they decided to hand them out to the HOMELESS.
They held back a few donuts for themselves. But they have a daily event next to the police station where they hand out food. So they made Tuesday DONUT day.
They had people line up behind the van, gave all the donuts away, and posted a few pics on their Facebook page.

LATE LUNCH – OR EARLY DINNER?
A Doctor who’s the founder of the Intensive Dietary Management Program says that the solution to managing your weight effectively is as simple as eating your last meal of the day at 2pm.
He says that one of the big differences between society before the obesity crisis and now is that back in, say, the 1970s, people generally only actually ate food in about a 10-hour window each day (breakfast at 8AM, dinner at 6pm). And the shorter your “window of eating”, the more likely that you are able to effectively manage your weight.
He points out that surprisingly, fasting after 2pm actually produces more feelings of fullness in the evening, once the body gets used to its new schedule after about four weeks. Most test subjects found the fasting period relatively easy to adhere to, but found it difficult to schedule dinner for 2pm…especially those with a family.

Getting Ready for Work Takes Twice as Long When You Have a Kid
A new survey polled 2,000 people, including parents and non-parents. And it found that having just one kid makes your morning routine take TWICE as long.
The average person with NO kids said they can get ready for work and be out the door in 22 minutes if they’re in a rush. But for people with one child it was 45 minutes.
And the more kids you have, the longer it takes. But it’s not a huge jump. For example, people with one kid said it takes 18 minutes to have breakfast, compared to 24 minutes for people with three kids.
Here are the top five everyday things that take longer when you have a kid . . .
Packing for a trip, 36 minutes longer . . . cleaning the house, 35 minutes longer . . . shopping for clothes, 33 minutes longer . . . ironing, 30 minutes longer . . . and going to the grocery store, also about 30 minutes longer.
The survey found the average parent has a TOTAL of two hours of free time a day, compared to more than three hours for people without kids.
Parents were also asked what they’d do if they suddenly had a free day without their kids around. And the top answer was . . . sleep.

The odds of winning the Mega Millions are one in 302.6 million.
Once again this week, no winning ticket was sold for the $60 million jackpot in Friday night’s Lotto Max draw.
However, there were also 53 Maxmillions prizes of $1 million each up for grabs, and 23 of them were won.
The jackpot for the next Lotto Max draw on Oct. 26 will remain at approximately $60 million, but the number of Maxmillions offered will increase to 55.
LAUREN ALAINA MOURNS LOSS OF STEPFATHER
Lauren Alaina is mourning the loss of her stepfather, Sam Ramker, who died yesterday (Sunday, October 21st) after battling stage IV cancer.
Lauren announced the sad news on social media writing in part, ‘My stepdad, Sam, went to heaven at one o’clock this morning. He was the purest example of how to love and live life fully. His last few hours were some of the most amazing moments I know I will ever have the privilege of witnessing . . . “
Lauren canceled her scheduled tour performances with headliner Cole Swindell on Friday (October 19th) and Saturday (October 20th) to be with her family.
KEITH URBAN VISITS HIS ‘BIGGEST FAN’ IN HOSPICE CARE
Keith Urban made the day of a woman he called his “biggest fan” before his show on Thursday (October 18th) in Toledo, OH.
Twenty-five-year-old Marissa English had tickets to see Keith, or “Mr. Hottie,” as she calls him, but her declining health forced her to miss the show. According to reports, English suffers from a “myriad of health conditions including water and an inoperable cyst on her brain, severe scoliosis and cerebral palsy,” and just recently entered hospice care.
English’s nurses at Mercy Health St. Vincent Hospital started a social media campaign to get him to visit her
Urban got the message, and showed up to spend about an hour with English, where he sang to her, talked to her and her family and took plenty of pictures.
That night, he told the sold-out crowd about meeting “a beautiful girl named Marissa . . . who I truly think is my biggest fan,” and he dedicated his concert there to her.
Loretta Lynn Had a “Brief Hospital Visit” . . . And Is Home Resting
LORETTA LYNN wasn’t feeling well last week, and couldn’t pick up her Artist of a Lifetime Award at the “CMT Artists of the Year” ceremony. She talked about it in a FACEBOOK post on Saturday, saying she went in for “a brief hospital visit.”
She was disappointed that she missed the show, but did watch it several times. She thanked all “the amazing girls” who performed. Quote, “I’m feeling better now and enjoying a weekend of resting up at home. Love y’all, Loretta.”
